Taekwondo Master Lee Kyu-Hyung, 9th dan and president of National Taekwondo Exhibition Team demonstrates a creative Taekwondo poomsae and performs two breaks: spearhand and back kick.
I've several videos of Master LEE Kyu Hyung performing this technique. I've used slo-mo paused them, zoomed in etc... he does not strike the boards with a fist he actually uses his finger tips. Small men, frauds, cheaters and haters are often genuinely surprised to discover that through hard work and discipline others do not need to cheat or be dishonest to accomplish great things. Perhaps you should not be so eager to insult such a great man... follow his example and improve yourself instead.
He created it. It's his own original form. I've never seen anyone perform the same pattern. It's not taught as an official part of the Kukkiwon's Taekwondo curriculum. He made it up. "Creative Poomsae".
Wow! Its grandmaster... Such masters can do unbelievable things. My teacher, 6 degree black belt was invited for testing of all sorts of breaks in russia, only Vologodskii break wasn't destroyed.
translated "the boards were broken with the end of his fingers, and poomse was a derivation of ChonKwon. Masters Lee, my teacher you have convinced to me to follow the way. "
No. That's the point of the demonstration. He has spent years conditioning his hands to be able to perform this technique without injury. This is very high level technique.
This is Kukki-Taekwondo. The Kukkiwon is the World Headquarters for Taekwondo as a martial art, thus the name Kukki-Taekwondo. W.T.F. is an international sport federation. The W.T.F. governs the National Governing Body of Taekwondo in each member nation as well as rules, regulations and processes for international and Olympic Taekwondo sporting events. W.T.F. is not concerned with martial art, only sport.
Yes, I thought it was also a derivation of Chunkwon... and I wish to steal it! I would almost say aloud that Chunkwon (Sky) is very similar to Shotokan's Unsoo (Cloud hands)... but I won't say that aloud. Do you know where to find other performances of this poomse?
Are you referring to rebreakable plastic boards that slide back together? Rebreakable ones get easier with each break as they wear out. There are also foam pads the same size & shape as boards. When teaching I use the foam boards first to teach holding and distance and lots of repetition, then advance to the rebreakable baords for power, then finally real boards.
las tablas fueron rotas con la punta de sus dedos, y el poomse fue una derivacion of the ChonKwon. Master Lee, mi maestro me has convencido de seguir mi camino.
Naaa, plastic boards are very less used. Here in Italy we use 2,5-3cm tight wooden boards :) Up when I was green belt I could break 2 of them with both regular punch or side kick ;)
I've never seen a spear hand break like that. Never seen a 9th dan doing patterns or breaking either. Thanks very much for sharing this video
Very inspirational for all martial artists. This is the pinnacle of the art form expressed at the highest level.
holy wow. that spearhand break was fantastic. he didn't chamber back or anything!

You met him at the Hanamadang? Do you know if he will be attending the Hanmadang 2008 Hanmadang in Anaheim CA in July?

I believe that he is no longer teaching at Midong Elementary and has accepted a University position.

It started like kwan gae. . .I will research this guy :)

No, it was a spear hand strike performed with his finger tips.
What pattern is this? The start was similar to the ITF pattern Kwan-gae, but it's clearly not.

I know, right!!??
I'm sorry that you are too inexperienced or ignorant to appreciate the skill demonstrated in this video.
LOLL THE PYONSONKUT SEO CHIRUGUI!
It is a very old and weared black belt :) :P
It's a creative pattern, not an official one.
