Why would they be “fake Audi A4s?” That just doesn’t mean anything, they are both their own entirely separate vehicles that do not even fall into the same niche. It also wouldn’t matter if they did, it’s not like either is a knock-off, since that doesn’t really exist outside of China. Lastly, the A4 isn’t even the correct Audi to compare, as it’s on a different (Audi-specific) platform, is a different size, and has a longitudinal engine powering all 4 wheels. The A3 is at least on the same platform as the Golf.

Annoying? I find it wonderful. It both makes the car stand out and gives it an almost V10-esque roar. It’s more low and gruff with much better harmonics than a wheezy and weak I4 sound or a raspy and rough V6 sound.
