It's not just this group lol. The car is comedically bad and I love it. People were so hyped for something to transport 2 handed loot with and they were given an overly complicated deathtrap that can't even traverse the simplest of maps. It's so perfect for the game, I hope it's never good.

To explain for those who don't care far too much about the goofy looting horror game: what happened was when NL took the hive at first and jumped off the ledge, it messed with the bees' ability to properly track their hive, so they became a roaming death squad that goes after anything they can see while patrolling the outside via invisible nodes on the ground (basically all AI in the game follows the same "patrol" system of unchecking these nodes). This can be solved by giving them back their hive, or the bees spotting the hive itself and going to it (which is in the ship), which luckily didn't happen because of everyone dying on the hill and NL managing to somehow sneak by them with 56lbs on him (bees outrun the player once the player has 15 or 20lbs of weight, or something like that).
