    Neeko you are a genius. Your idea about skills is so good. Limit players to a certain amount of active skills but you can aquire skills throughout different regions, raids, dungeons ect. With certain skills being locked from certain races just based off lore but not too limited. Have weapons have basic modifiers like magic damage, attack speed, attack power, crit chance. So you can wield whatever kind of weapon you want for your build and doesnt lock you in to a build.

      Exactly that brother

      The thing is the idea may be good, but mmo's are incredible expensive and hard to make. So you have to speak to the broad audience, having one complex and deep skill tree, may turn people away from the game. MMO's sadly don't allow for a complete experimental try, because the risk is way to high. Also the game balance would be almost impossible to maintain

    • @haste3
      @haste3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YuriLunaris it wouldnt be a complex tree, the skill tree would be basic, similar to the builds in league now. Skills would be the same as killing bosses for loot or a weapon or something in another game but instead you kill the boss and learn one of their abilities if it fits your class or lore, like you kill malzahar and learn to summon voidlings, or you quest in a region and its like training under one of those masters and you learn one of that regions specialties, you go to ionia do some quests for Master Yi and he teaches you alpha strike. It actually would be pretty easy to implement and they dont need to be broken or anything so balance shouldnt be an issue its just a way to chose where you quest and customize your character a bit more. I think it would actually give it more or a mmo feel tbh not having set archetypes.

      @@haste3 thats cool if they can make that happen like a class quest where you actually need to earn for it by going to specific champs or area to learn it.

    Man your wno classes was really on point,Albion online uses that and it's awesome

    The person in chat "ZakiLameck" basically said what i would be worried about the most.
    One of the main reasons why this kind of class system wouldn't work is it's balance. It's unbelieveably hard to even balance a strict action combat like Black desert online, now mix this combat with unique Skills you can get from bosses or quests which would make you a Warrior-mage or Warrior-enchanter lets say. This is a heavy miss-balance on itself and already gives me headaches as an develepor trainee on balancing. Even if you hire a 50+ balancing team they wouldn't be able to keep up with it's issues because every single player would have freedom in skill-customization, that's exactly what Alt characters are for. They give the developers some air to avoid mixed skill trees.
    Now let's say you make it super easy and give Warriors the chance to learn warrior skils from other regions, that's okay and completely possible.
    Another huge factor for example with what Ashes of creation will have is how i said before, balancing on PVP. Their idea of mixing 2 different class aspects will break the game earlier than they know.
    Good idea but it's impossible to execute well.

    • @whyvern6817
      @whyvern6817 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah like give the players freedom but only within the class they choose , something like class quest that is different for each region or learning from set person but you need to actually earn for it. A soft class would be way nuts because itll be way to hard to balance and because if its already established in the game once it becomes way too bad itll anger the players who use the specific build

    Great video as always neeko, looking forward to see what they do with their game, i'm really on your side with customization and skills thing, hope they don't limit it that much and let people think about what their doing with their characters, because thinking is critical in games and it should be on mmos too, just like how ppl can theorycraft in league and make new mechanichs with the little they have to work with. That would be very cool. Ultimately games are done for thinking, to push your limits, and i think ppl this days are kinda forgetting that aspect of games.

    The thought of being able to do whatever you want is tantamount to a theme park as opposed to a game right?
    The omni-class that you speak of with everything being tied to skills and hear is not a good idea as far as trying to make an RPG goes. You're asking to take the 'R' out of the RPG'. This seems like the antithesis of an MMORPG where you have to find other players to help you progress, like an actual RPG session with friends. If you don't want the Social Aspect of the game, sure, make it single player and make it so tat you can be a Mary-sue to your hearts content. But if you are a character in an MMO that can do everything with other players that can do anything just seems pointless, frivolous, strange.

      I don't mean to undermine RPG I mean being able to specialize into anything you want on any character

      Based on Riot's past record and what's been announced so far, I would be very surprised if they did a no class system. Riot's strategy has always been "don't break the mold, just do it better". I expect it would be more GW2 and less POE in terms of skill customization.

    I agree with no classes , and you earn a class through a quest or something, and make some classes are time events like sentinel of light in the ruination
