    This fly has worked well for me on the hooch this year. So much so, I have decided to start tying it. Great video. It seems like everyone has their own version of a prince

      For sure, it’s a great pattern. You can definitely change it up with colors and such. I’ve seen a bunch of different ones for sure

    Thank you so much! I have been following your fly tying videos lately. You give such clear & precise instructions! I truly appreciate your time & passion you have for Fly tying. Btw, i just finished the Prince Nymph! I used turkey quill & duck quill because that was all I had. I think it came out good for my first time. Thanks again!

      Thanks for watching man! I’m glad you enjoy the videos. And great! Glad you were able to make them. So the Turkey biots will be a bit thin for this use but I’m sure it still turned out good.

    I don't use prince nymphs a lot but I caught one of my biggest Graylings, as a beginner, with my first self tied prince nymph. It wasn't a beautiful tie and i almost forgot it in my box but this day it was definitely a great attractor! Now it has a special place in my Fly Box!

      Yeah it’s not always my go to pattern either. But for an attractor yeah it works pretty good! That is awesome about the grayling man! Congrats!

    Awesome tie McFly! The Hackle you mentioned in video as hen saddle, but as hen cape in material list. It looks like hen cape as hen saddle is wide.

      Sorry did I say saddle in the video? It’s a hen cape. The cape has smaller fibers and are a little more stiff. Not as stiff as the rooster capes though. About perfect for this application. Use a hen cape not a saddle as the fibers on a hen saddle are mostly going to be too long.

    In some systems in the cascades, I've seen cased caddis covered in hemlock needles that look like the prince. The fly is very effective there.

      Cool! So maybe it does mimic something. I’ve always thought of it as an attractor that dissent resemble anything imparticular. Awesome info thanks man!

    Good hackle for the collar. I've been experimenting with the whiting 4b hackle even with prince nymphs and have had great results and are good for the money. The only downside with the 4b however is you only get 1 fly per hackle feather out of it, but $20 for a 4b cape ain't bad.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah those are great! However I can’t find 4b. Been looking for a while and it’s all out of stock. These hen necks aren’t bad price either. I think in the same price range as the 4b.

      It starts at $1/month so not too bad if you ever decide. Otherwise maybe at one point I can look into switch, but probably not for a while. Already too busy as it is. Haha!

    I’m trying to tie some saltwater flies because we’ll that’s what I fish, however I have no clue what I need in reference to materials

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tons of saltwater patterns on my TH-cam, look through, and I always list the materials in the description section of the video as well as show them in the videos. Good luck man

      Hey just so you know, I’m working on writing a book that will list all tbe materials and steps of tying many of the flies I’ve tied on camera

    Great job, i prefer to use peacock colored ice dub over herl, more durable and flashier!

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That will work for sure. The beauty of tying your own flies is the ability to custom make them to your needs and wants. Peacock is more original to the pattern, so I used that to keep it traditional but, nothing wrong with switching out any materials you want. That’s a great switch and I do the same thing on occasion also.

    For the life of me I couldn't remember the name. Made about 20 of these a few weeks ago and everyone kept asking and I couldn't remember

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol yeah the name kinda doesn’t make sense, until you realize it was made by a guy who’s last name was prince.
