They don't make Jazz music like this anymore, after the 1990s, things changed. This brother right here, was right there alongside the best of his time.
George Howard, Grover, Phyliss, Joe Sample, Maurice, Dave Sanborn, Gato, etc.....Although they have all passed on, their great music will last forever!!!!
Funny story: I had just turned 18 and for my Bday my parents took me to see George Howard ,Dianne Reeves and a few others who were performing in NYC because that's what I wanted for my Bday..Anyway I had bleached my hair platinum blonde that afternoon, and my father wouldn't look at me that entire day, and my mom cried a little when I unveiled my "new hair" and I remember after Howard's first set, during that concert with my parents, since we were seated at a table in the front, Howard stopped, looked at me for a second, and then shook his head in disdain. Hey it was 1995, and I loved Jazz and Ahmad Jamal poinciana and Najee were the first cd's I bought at 14; but I also loved Biggie Smalls. Now at 46, both parents gone as well as Howard ...its a funny anecdote that tickles me in retrospect, and his performance that night was wonderful.
I met George Howard many times when I worked for BET. He was not only an extraordinary saxophone player, but a nice guy. I remember him inviting me to have drinks with him and the band after a long day hosting at a festival. "Don't stay in your hotel room bored girl!" I loved my buddy and was crushed when he passed. No, they don't make music like this anymore. That's smooth jazz. RIP George Howard.
I was introduced to this rendition by George Howard in 1986. To this day, it is still my favorite smooth jazz piece of all time. With this particular tune, I believe Mr. Howard created an effect that no other Jazz artist could parallel. I think the closest is Marion Meadows' version of "Wishing On A Star".
Wtf is Spotify???. At the prime age of 62 my brothers I bought this album and to this day every so often I'll play it on the turntable. So to me I don't need a Spotify. Retired in the Atl.

To me, one of the best jazz remakes from back in the day. The original version by Lionel Richie's is a classic as well.
Yes this is a great song and George done good. He was taken from us far too soon. RIP

I know, I was like WTF why is this not in my playlist anymore lol. Hopefully they'll bring it back on soon. Possibly a copyright renewal issue maybe?
