I will say Japan is living in an alternative future. That is because they have totally lost out in Internet, chip development, and EV cars. I am not sure about AI Robotic yet as they spent a lot of time on it. But so far I am not seeing any big splash from Japan. Worst yet, their population is growing extremely old and there are rarely any new Borns now. It is so severely that many towns and villages have no kids for schools.
Japan will continue to be a nostalgia destination. But that is about it. No new energy.
