    Wow! What a beautiful and colorful Chateau! I suggest purchasing a gimble to film with, it will help keep the camera steady, also think about purchasing an inexpensive microphone set, so that we will be able to make out what is being said. That stair case is magnificent! The front salon with the blue and white is gorgeous! The dining room is a little lackluster after seeing so much color. You will discover your colors as the Chateau reveals itself to you. I am sure lots of people have made these suggestions and others. Possibly watch a few other Chateau you tubers for references. I suggest the Pethericks, Doing it ourselves, Chateau diaries, Chateau life. Can't wait to see more of the Chateau!

    By slowing down your camera work will help see more, and when moving the camera too fast makes people seasick! Besides this, congratulations, and looking forward to watching your adventure.

      I wasn’t even planning on starting this channel, I took the footage for us for when we returned to our Gite, we could see one more time what exactly did we buy. Emotions were high, it was all surreal to us. I did not even have proper settings on my iPhone for TH-cam content. I promise to do a walk through there one more time when we return to FR.

    Your chateau is beautiful I love the blue and white in one of your rooms. I see your trees are full of ivy it's very important to take it off as it will kill your trees and any stone work through time will crumble I have seen it happen so often Good luck in your new home by the way your children are lovely.

    Wow! In the future you can slow down your movements. The panning around the rooms is far to fast. Thanks...Beautiful place you have. It is a treasure.

      Yes! I will definitely take better videos next time. I wasn’t even planning on having a channel, I took all the footage so when we came back to the hotel, we could re-watch what we actually purchased. If you view not the full screen version, there are more details and it’s easier to watch in my opinion, but small on the screen. The full screen required for me to do a lot of cropping. So it came out a bit chaotic. I will do better though. Thanks for watching!

      Really hard to get a feel for the individual spaces. You need to stand in a doorway, and pan slowly around the room,featuring the lovely architectural details.

      It’s amazing you remember it being up for sale! The brokers told us they had about 30 showings in one week prior to us making an offer on it. We trusted our instincts that it was ‘the one’ when we decided to buy it sight unseen. We feel very lucky we got it. Thank you for watching!

      @@countrylivinginfrenchchate2676 , we are looking at buying in a couple of years, so I thought that I would familiarize myself with the market. Not many places available with more than than 10 acres of land. I will definitely be following your channel to pick up some tips. ;) Cheers!

      @@betsygiddins6553 that’s wonderful news! We had the same dilemma; we were looking for a large lot and ‘knew’ pretty much every new property coming into the market. The good new is, the chateau market is cooling off, and you will have a much better selection to choose from!

    A lot of chateau owners are going with a sunny yellow color in the dining or breakfast room. Ivory panels, maybe with a touch of gold.

    I see from the comments that people like your channel. Good. Don't get discouraged because a lot of us watch other chateau channels. People are offering their advice because they are trying to help you. They could be so much worse and say horrible things but they are just directing like a director how they would like to see you film.

      @countrylivinginfrenchchate2676  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate every constructive comment! I do pay attention what people like and what would they like to see on my channel. At the same time, I am trying not to repeat other people’s channels but instead, create something real, natural and unscripted, that is truly my own. I already got a stabilizer, will be updating my phone soon, and learned quite bit during the short month when I started this adventure. So thank you for your input and thank you for watching! The videos will only get better from now on!

    Bonjour! Congratulations on your property acquisition! Glad to find your channel and to see more United Statesians getting into the chateau game. I am writing from Texas. I love the blue. Once I can see the dining room better I might have some ideas. My first impression is that there is way too much going on in there. The printed wallpaper or fabric on the paneling seems quite busy. Is that a window over the fireplace? I recommend the Journey to the Chateau channel. Everything they (Patrick and Stuart) do whether restoration or relocation is well researched. Their channel begins with chateau hunting videos and continues through their recent move-with eight Irish terriers, an endangered species of dog. It is not step by step how to do restoration, or at least not yet. More showing tasks in sped up time-I forgot what that is called-and discussing. They are a relatively small channel and have rich interaction with their subscribers. Also former U S residents (as are Journey) is Dreaming of a Chateau (Lady of the Chateau). They too bought without seeing in person. British ex pats Emz (nickname for Emily or Emma) and Ross Millar and their children, horses, dogs, and other animals are at the Chateau Dreams channel. These are recommendations in case you didn’t already know. Your chateau is gorgeous and hopefully does not have wormwood or other issues but is in great condition.

      Greetings from Boston!
      Thank you for your kind suggestion. Yes, that is a window over the fireplace. You gave me a good idea- I should probably watch some of the series you mentioned above. I am slowly getting ideas
      What I would like to see it there, but I am curious about the end product myself. Thank you for following us on this journey!

      @@countrylivinginfrenchchate2676 A window over a fireplace is a very unusual feature that would not have been technologically possible until a certain time period. Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens (sp?) ) wanted one and got one. Does the chateau date from the 19th century? Does the fireplace work? Will y'all be living in France full time at some point?

    • @countrylivinginfrenchchate2676
      @countrylivinginfrenchchate2676  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@betteurbain7911 yes, the chateau was build in 1874 hence those windows over the fireplaces. We have several of them (with windows) but the total number of all fireplaces is 16. I think all of them work. Maybe I should do 1 video just about it’s fireplaces? There are several styles. Not all of them look exactly the same. Just an idea. We will stay for the duration of kids school (September-June), hopefully we could spend next summer in Boston, and after that we will decide what to do. We really don’t have specified plans at this point; we will see what will life throw at us.

    referencing "other chateau videos you see on TH-cam unfortunately are scripted"...hmmm, they become that way over time because these chateau owners have honed their vlogging skills. Agreed many have become a business because they use the revenue to work on the renovation which is extremely expensive. I have no problem with this and many others don't either becoming patrons. When watching the British TV versions of the chateau DYI, yes they are scripted because its TV. Here in the U.S. we pay for extra channels to watch on TV, so its a business. I'd rather the money go to exactly what I am interesting in watching rather than some random shows I never watch. Glad you feel you can provide "real, raw, no filters, no fake stuff." Good luck with your adventure. We shall follow along.
