Lizardmen were one of the largest factions in Old WOrld... it makes ZERO sense to not have them in Old World... supply the lizardmen models with square and oval bases,t hey used to (still do?) do it with demons and others. People I think are sick and tire of AoS, we need lizardmen back. Legit one of the most played armies, and they have like 4 human armies coming back... just why.
I got mine for real cheap. It was in my attic, I didn't have to pay anybody or anything. Multiple armies. Came with a bunch of books too. Pretty sweet
Wait they grow up there or what??😂 you already gave GW your money just not now😅 I only found 1 dwarf and a canon in my attic😭
@Petaaz give GW money? No, I found the Wood Elves and Tomb Kings just chilling in the attic, waging war and ruling whole Empires up there. That's what happens when you don't clean your attic on a regular basis.
Congrats on your find! Put those squatter Dwarfs to work for you. It's the least they could do not paying rent all these years.
@@joelkurowski7129 hahahaha this reply was epic brother😂😂 will do!
Retarded comment
But did they magically manifested in youR attic?
Custom "War Swans" from Citadel Journal 36 (page 15) - the whole custom army of Halflings "The Hungry Horde" they truly are glorious lol
Strangely enough Lumpin Croops boys seem to dig in their furry feets and shoot straighter when defending near the victualling wagon I created for my Dogs of War army. Need some house rules for the wee chaps RE :Food , defending , finding and stopping for 2nd and 3rd breakfasts in lieu of fulfilling their contractual obligations !
@@Wardads1oh that would be a great house rule for sure!
The old orcs were perfect kitbash with 40k boyz, some I just had dual weapons and I’d say they had throwing knives whenever i needed them to shoot
Actually genius, and fits reasonably well with the Orky mentality. If enough of us boyz think that throwing knives can be as damaging as bullets, then it becomes true lol
The orcs with the choppas are the one-piece bodues with separate heads that were in one of the previous WHFB biced releases, not the orcs that were interchangeable with 40k orks. I planned to use them as Big-Unz since they were slightly larger than the multi-piece orcs but I no longer have any of them.
You mean those from the 6th edition Empire vs Orks starter set?
For Empire there lots of historical miniatures in close to heroic scale one can buy. Often with 24-30 miniature per box for less money you pay GW for 10 minis
For old school metal miniatures : Warmonger Miniatures is the way
I looked through their stock, they have some nice character sculpts and recasts, but not really any troops, like at all.
@@MightyGachiman Wargames foundry has plenty of troops for empire and bretonnia if you browse their historical ranges.
Or counters, lol
You 'Warhammer is too espensive' smart boys are ridiculous.
Also, cool PHP, RIP Roky
Shout to Kings of War minis, the latest plastic sprues from Mantic are super high quality. Love to see them mentioned ❤
If you're talking about Kings of War, I'd also throw Reaper in there. Especially if you like metal models. They have a boxed set of heraldric knights.
I use Kings of War goblins for my orc forces. At the time even the older plastic multi part GW goblins were too pricey.
I think we’ll get all the TOW armies back eventually, it’s just logistics at the moment and gauging how well it does. We can’t have everything at once so they’re focusing on these armies at first and then maybe in a year or two they’ll add the others back! I think old world is gonna do allot better then you think. The Old release was the busiest day ever for warhammer world. Even busier then 10th ed 40k
Yeah I suspect it’s gonna do very well. And I assume in around 2-3 year or so they may do an Old World 2nd edition release or so and focus on the other remaining factions.
I don't agree with the Old world not doing well. If anything I think GW is alittle afraid that it will overshadow age of sigmar and I wouldn't be surprised if they kinda shift gears away from AOS to the OW. AOS has shown that it can only really ever be a tabletop game. Attempts to push it into the Video game market and it's books have been alittle lack luster. OW though Is perfect for not only tabletop but books, TV, Movies, and Video games. It's just a stronger IP that more people can get behind. I kinda feel GW is regretting AOS especially with the success of games like Total war Warhammer and Vermintide and TV shows like the Witcher.
Lets just say if the 40k TV show is successful I think GW will try a fantasy show as well and they are most certainly not going to use AOS for that. And if the Fantasy show is successful it will bring a ton of new players into the hobby that also don't want AOS they will want the OW.
The irony of the Old World: GW Made the kits super expensive because they think it won't sell well enough, but since the models are super expensive people just buy used models. Sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Many things like this with GW, like making Horus Heresy only Sons of Horus and Imperials Fist since they sell them most and then making products just for those legions mostly
I just can’t stand some of the really old models. Like I want to buy GW tomb kings, but I’m getting 3D printed ones instead cause they look a bit better and are cheaper.
@@elibarker201 I think this is fine and dandy. Personally, I can appreciate the old-school charm, but not at the price of Malifaux-models. So get the models you want the way you like.
The Legacy armies are also WAY easier to buy at the moment. Most have lots of troops available through Age of Sigmar. High Elves ... Nothing available.
to be honest i like old world rules and gameplay but can't really go over the fact that models sucks, they are terrible
Or the dwarfs built them a castle but the ceilings were only 4ft high! 😂
I wanted to get TOW, but when I've learned they are just selling mostly old minis, I gave up. It's just such a money grab, in a year they will start selling new models so that you can replace the antics you buy now. So yeah, if you buy, definitely buy second hand.
Jay's Dwarve's battle cry: "I want my 2 dollars!"
It's all about the generations of interest. ;)
Dwarves use minors?
I was there the day GW released the OG pot grot.
Lost kingdoms have some great proxies along with higland minatures for tomb kings. Although Im not a fan of whfb orcs, i am excited for all the giants and troll hag coming back
How to get Old World cheap! Step 1: have friends. Well im out
Thankfully a lot of Warhammer Fantasy players collected small parts of a bunch of armies and are willing to step in and trade until GW releases more!
Skaven should be in old world. They're every ones enemy, mainly Empire n dwarves
And back in the day there were rules for space marines in Warhammer fantasy
Bretonnians made to order are SOO good for a Mordheim Warband
You mean rooster riding halflings? Because those minis exist.
play Warmaster, i would love to see you paint those 10 mm minis. When you print one army you cant stop.
There are no Citadel models of Halflings riding geese or anytthing else.
With Highland Miniatures existing...no point to buy anything GW produces at the moment.
I've always wanted to make a beastmen army heavy on the minotaurs, but with other companies minis, as I've never liked the GW versions.
What I find really weird is that they still haven't released all bretonians. This Lady Duchard (or whatever shes called) and the freaking green Knight himself are still missing. Does someone know whats up with that?
Halflings on Geese! irregularwars.blogspot.com/2018/02/halflings-of-hearthshire.html
Halling army, rules and pictures where in the old citadel journal magazine.
See the orcs and the dwarfs did release together.
I'm assuming Chaos Dwarves will be announced as a new AoS faction in the next year or so.
I really hope they release the Merwyrm again because I want one for my dark elves
kings of war have a fun halfling army, honestly using mainly kings of wars minis with a few strategic gw ones may be the best way to old world
Jay EoB: He's Pretty Pog. 👍
Just get a mantic mega army box... Then use it to play kings of war instead.
Wow, this was the most disappointing click bate I have ever seen
There was a battle report in one of the White Dwarfs (I think 3k dwarfs vs 1.5k empire), which had exactly the same narrative - Empire count/lord not paying in full for update to his castle, resulting in Dwarfs atacking said castle. It was actually pretty cool!
I just 3d printed 4500pts of orks for 9th age. Just need to create a base adapters for everything and my army is ready.
The assassin's face is too bright. Make it pitch black with glowing eyes, Vivi style, like in the art.
The orc infantry models feel... embarrassing? I can't think of another way to describe it. They're just 40k Ork Boyz with cartoonish fantasy weapon arms stuck on. It's cringey
The fantasy orcs and 40k orks were designed to be compatible, for the sake of conversions. Mixing in fantasy orcs helps your 40k orcs to look like feral orks, mixing in 40k ork bits makes your fantasy orcs look more varied, though of course the weapons and arms, and some 40k ork heads, are more technological, so you'd tend not to use those for fantasy stuff.
I am so excited for this battalion box, I’m a massive old school ork model fan and you just don’t see modularity in newer GW models and having those different poses, weapons, bodies, heads, etc. will make my ever growing, kitbashed, 40k ork army look just that little bit more exciting. For myself at least.
@papa_boogy Very true, and that lack of modularity has discouraged many people from converting their models, so while these figures are a bit dated, they'll show newer fans just how much can be done with their models when they aren't so dramatically posed. Don't get me wrong, I like dynamic poses, but they're best as supplements to standard models, like the new ork boyz. They're not a great kit for all of your models to be drawn from, otherwise you'd have massive numbers of identical models comprising your hordes of greenies, but sprinkled into the ranks of the older boyz, they look great, and make the old boyz look great too.
@@rootsnootthnute8598 totally and I picked up a box of beast snaggas for this exact reason, the dynamic poses are great but when you see the same 4 over the course of 60 boys they start to blend in. But scattered about the older Boyz they look great as nobs or just big Boyz
wargames foundry has old metal minis (knights, vikings, fantasy stuff etc) that are from citadel, they're sculpts from the 80s. very charming and enjoyable to paint
a lot of newer mantic plastics are vastly better than TOW classic plastics FYI! great choice imo
Lol love the Judas Iscariot reference.
Instead of 30 silver, make it “‘bout tree fiddy”
I mean the existing armies could be bought for both games, its baffling that gw isn't doing that
I'm sorry but asking for your friends' minis is simply clickbait. I really like your content but that's not it.
Ask? support your friends and BUY the minis from them, in sure if you Have a friend with old minis they aint gonna charge full price
The Assault Group do Halfling Cavalry on giant roosters all metal! Great looking to boot.
The only good copters are the old metallic one ;) But I like the new set for bombers.
Sounds like you need to educate yourself a little about Warhammer Fantasy and The Old World.
I'm in a similar situation with TOW, the army I want to do is wood elves, but I already have an ogor mawtribes army that just needs some base adaptors and some more ogre bulls to be playable in TOW, so at least whilst I'm waiting on the wood elf minis to release I have something to play. Sites like trolltrader are a great resource for legends armies since you can pick the minis up cheap and sort of cobble together units, and they come with the benefit of already being built. I've been able to scrape together the core of the army for much cheaper than buying new, however I'm also in the situation of waiting on my rulebook, so I'll have to see what my army is like after getting more context from the rulebook.
I thought the plastic wyvern kit they released right before end times was so cool, what did they do with that?
"pretty Pog". I feel so old because I have no idea what that means.
Are you tired? Conjunctivitis? Or is jay vibin some broccoli after pumping through this dwarves hahaha
I used Escher Gangers as Cultists in my Compendium Chaos Marine Kill Team They are sweet Sweet Model.
Steal it.
24:33 Sorry what did he just say?
The First person shooter game is Necromunda: Hired Gun. Its a lot of fun. Really captures the environment and characters of the setting.
Necromunda; Underhive Wars is a Third person turn-based strategy based game which is more of a PC simulator of the Necromunda tabletop ruleset.
As for Old World... I'll be playing my Age of Sigmar Maggotkin as Nurgle Daemons using the legacy army list. Just need some base adaptors so the round bases will fit on square bases....Daemons. Playable in 30K, 40K, Old World, AOS and Kill Team.
Miniwargaming has whole packs of base adapter trays on my mini factory! Do a search for "Rank and Flank Movement Tray Converters Bundle".
👍👍 that assassin mini looks like paparazzi shots of celebrities buying groceries 😃
Dynamic on paper; still poops 😄
Such a negative Nancy. Maybe help grow the community if you're going to talk about it all the time instead of keep claiming it's dead on arrival.
Love how the 30 pieces of silver just ...woosh over Jay's head. lol
I just 3d printed over 1.5k points of higher quality models than GW for just $20 worth of Resin. That's the real cheapest way.
Jay learning the trade of saving old Fantasy minis to build armies with. WELCOME!
basically the reason fantasy died xD no one bought new models
The old world is very popular but the prices 4 the minis from GW will push alot of people 2 3rd party companies, this will show a loss 2 GW so they will make out the game is dead
That assassin is one of the most beautiful models I have ever seen... they shouldn't be "flashy" or showy, they should be understated but well modelled. That thing is gorgeous.
Agree... Wouldn't go as far as "one of the most beautiful", but for sure on point for what it represents?
@@Virakotxa Yeah I think it just... so perfectly meets the idea of a shadowy bounty hunter lurking in dark, staying otu of sight, out of mind until its time to hit.
Just setting up for lunch, and a new EOB video pops up on the feed! Exquisite timing, many thanks! 😂🎉
I'm not a fan of the constant shade you throw at the classic minis. I'll check back when you stop being so fuckin snooty.
GW don't want to sell minis with multiple base options. Anything sold these days with round bases (seraphon, witch elves, skaven, demons etc) won't be getting retro armies. Not sure about Chaos Dwarfs - I wonder if there's a new A0S faction over the horizon after the success in Total War.
But chaos warriors are in old world and sigmar though aren't they?
@@richardloveday5761 good point, I guess we wait and see what figures come back for them. I think it's down to figures and unit names but I could be wrong.
@@richardloveday5761Yes, as well as Beastmen and parts of at least 2 other ranges.
16:55 no
Warhammer fantasy came out before 40k
So 40k actually copied fantasy
you can mix and match 40k and fantasy orcs yes.
If warhammer fantasy takes place back in medieval time 30 pieces of silver would be worth $264.60 today
200k subs! Congrats! Great Job
Perry miniature plastic kits can be good alternative options too.
I don't think Halflings rode geese but they definitely did ride swans, eagles, goats sheep and rams. Not that I can find any pictures of the swan riders right now, my Google-fu is failing me!
I'm pretty familiar with a number of sites that catalog old Citadel minis and I don't think I've ever seen any Halflings other than basic infantry and the hot pot catapult. A number of other companies do make mounted halfling miniatures though.
There are some mentioned in an old edition of Citadel Journal that has pictures of goat and swan riders, there's a scan of it here: halflinghouse.blogspot.com/2012/01/halfling-army-list-citadel-journal-36.html
Now I need some halfling swan rider models!
That army was a custom that featured in a Citadel Jounal back in the late 90’ies. Don’t remember witch issue, but I still got it laying around somewhere…
cheapest way is to 3d print them!
The bretonians cut the beard of a dwarf who stole an apple, but not really. Lets call it the war of the beard.
Loving the coverage of The Old World m8. I just can't get motivated to get back into 40k, so loving an excuse to watch all your videos again! Soooo good!
metal hat good detail, but you NEED to varnish the frick out of them or the paint WILL come off! The solution I got thought is like two coats of gloss varnish and three coats of matt varnish and if your model becomes glossy in the raised areas, coat them again immediately
I'm actually thinking of getting a Tomb Kings army but the starter box has some issues. Dun want the horsemen myself but maybe I can find a way to trade them for some more archers and chariots. The starter box isn't too bad if you still need the rulebook as well; since the book is like 50 tbh; the chonky dragon is so cool though.
The early plastic Rohirrim was dire, which is why I got rid of them.... I do have the metal Eltharion the Grim and Tyrion for my High Elves though and they're amazing. @_@
The craziest news about that "made to order" biz was the Marauder Giant coming back. My stock on GW is pretty low, but they went up one magnitude with that move.
Thanks for the overview. I'm currently resurrecting whats left of my 25mm metals for use again, after about 40yrs. (!) (& thankyou for the clearly spoken, inspirational presentation.)
Yea I bought the Lady on 2nd market, luckily for a decent price.
The Delaque assassin looks like either an initiate or old retired mentor version of a callidus assassin, instead of something necromunda
Chaos Dwarves are coming to AOS. Skaven are in AOS, Dark Elves, Ogres, Lizardmen, Vampires are all AOS. Chaos Dwarves are coming too.
The orcs didn’t share bits - But were made in the same manner, so were cross-compatible
I started the hobby in 1996 when I was in the Army my friend was throwing all his Warhammer fantasy in the Barracks skip bin so I saved them 3 dragons, Bret’s, High Elves, Wood Elves and Empire oh and a Hydra 😂😂😂 and I collected Tomb Kings at their release ( 03 I think) I got the Army deal and I repainted all my vampire counts as Tomb Kings except for the ones that don’t translate 😂😂😂
Thank you for an interesting video!
If I may pitch a few video ideas:
1 How to create an old world army from AOS. What is obvious to you is not as easy for a new player.
2 How to / where to find opponents for GW games. Grown up, new players may have a problem here.
3 What start sets / start boxes are likely to be released for the old world before the end of the year, and what is likely to be in them?
4 What old world models are easiest to asseble for a new player? For noobs like myself who want as little assembling as possible
5 Is the start set models (tomb kings / brettonia / greenskins / dwarfs) a good selection of models for playing? For example, the greenskins neither have black orcs or night goblins in it. Is it worth buying these sets, or is it bad models that likely that would be replaced?
6 Suggestion to us noobs of how to create a decent army (start box + some extra models) for each fractions with starter sets (including skaven from the skaventide box for AoS)
If you're REALLY stuck for money, switch to 15mm and use Demonworld.
Your gothic scenery in 32mm would still work, the minis are by Werner Klocke, who did a lot of work for the old Warhammer system. And there are a bunch of cool armies.
There is a alot of Warhammer (outside of AOS and warcry) that just isn't weird enough anymore. Anyone remember the Inquisitor acolytes? There was a guy with flamers for arms! Just look through the old 80's catalogues!
yes the 40k ork and fantasy orks could be swaped, same size of arm, torso and leg, sculpt where different
i'm happy they left the big orcs for fantasy, i feel they have a better poersonality with this sculpt than AOS skinny 'orcs'
Look, I get where you're all coming from, but try living in a country where Warhammer has only been a thing for a decade or so and take a look at Ebay shipping price.
Yeah, GW price is the budget option here.
GW know the margins and they know how damn expensive and difficult it is to redo old metals. Find the mould, test that it isn't totally busted. If it isn't do, some production runs, a slow process that has expensive raw materials and human hands on at every step.
By now even if the old moulds are good, they are in the last 100 or so runs before all the detail drops out or the failure rate rises. Then your into making new moulds for old models with a limited sales window and appeal. Sadly TOW in some ways is a rod for their own backs.
I would avoid the thirty pieces of silver since it's a religious reference. Ten coppers it's funnier and read better as chump change.
Don't you think that the reason you don't think that the tomb kings don't fit in is that you don't know the lore. You projected tolkienesque fantasy to the old world and so stuff in the old world seems wrong. It is a more classical take on fantasy than aos, but it is still pretty unique.
You still have proven that you know the difference between bretonnia and empire.
Brian Nelson sculpted a lot of the old 40k orks and given the fantasy was released around the same time he was probably involved in both. Also means you can mix fantasy orcs and 40k orks to make feral ork army!
the ganger is defs my new callidus
My ass living in a country where Warhammer was introduced in 2017: welp, no hope for The Old World then
I firstly admit to being a former fantasy Skaven player. That said- lossing Skaven as a real old world faction feels like a huge miss from GW. Well at least chaos will be a thing.
The orcs from old world are the same from 40K cousin my orc army I have a lot of fantasy work bits from old world that I use to make mine a little unique like some swords are from old world that are on my 40K orks and I have some Spears or heads from the fantasy orks on my 40K orks, so to answer your question on that yes it's the same height same body style that's why if you see some people with work armies you'll see a little bit of fantasy works in their army cuz it's the same😊
