No doubt about it, "Creepshow" is the best horror anthologies ever made and a classic! Watch it ever since I was a kid, I love the segments including "Father's Day", "Something to Tide You Over" and "They're Creeping Up on You".

This was one of the first horror films i ever saw when i was 4 back in 86 when i lived in St Louis and saw it with my parents and my 11 year old big brother and my 14 year old big brother when they rented it! i even had it taped on a blank tape when i was 10 and had the graphic novel since.
My favorite horror film! a classic and the new blu-ray is awesome as hell with the 4K restoration and also have the bluray of the documentary.

I just love the colors that are used in this movie, as well as the comic book panel framing.

lol epic Nathan Grantham impression! Please squeeze in Trick R Treat because I'm fairly sure you'll love some things about it and appreciate how it keeps the fun kind of horror that you talk about alive

The plan is to get around to it. We shall see if I can get to it before Halloween.

Creepshow is the first horror movie I saw when I was 7 back in 1984. It’s one my favorites too. 😎

Do you like the sequel, the spin-offs being Tales from the darkside the movie, Tales Darkside the movie (aka true Creepshow 3) and Creepshow the series? and also Tales from the Crypt movies/series?

Yes. I just watched episode 3 of the series on Shudder. I love it so far.

      Creepshow 2 was "ok".
Tales (creepshow 3)? On the other hand? Needed burned. It was so bad that even the "in name only-direct to DVD trash #3 4 and 5" were better than "Tales"

    "You're husband is calling you...Billie".
"OH HENRY...WHAT IS THE PROBLEM NOW?"
    BLAM!!!!!
    "Nothing Wilma...No problem at all"
(Clap clap...golf style..."Great Shot! BULLSYE". LOVED it)
    ONE OF THE GREATEST SCENES
    EVER.
They say "a great rack is a terrible thing to waste". But sheesh! Holbrook's fantasies..
    Were well-justified!
You can tell the cast had a ball making this classic.
"Playing against type these great actors were. From Fritz Weaver to Hal Holbrook to EG Marshall to Lovely Adrienne Barbeau (one of my personal all-time faves) to even Ted Danson and Viveca Lindfors and Carrie Nye. And ESPECIALLY "Ed Harris and his hottie wife" DANCING to the endless "Dont Let Go" song...with HER "jammin out like Susan Anton in 1978 to Ed Harris (no rhythm) yet does the "hanging himself back-step" (priceless)...these are actors who have been in some of the greatest films of all time...allowed to let loose and go "full ham".
Which (especially Fritz Weaver going totally bat**** crazy and Leslie Nielsen playing the "perfect nutball" (to the twisted "Camptown Ladies" song played in classic 80s synth)...to EG Marshall who personified "pure evil" in a way that makes ya just LOVE him.
Casting Director for this film deserved a triple pay raise.

Great film! Creepshow 1. Is THE 1. Totally campy. Totally over the top acting. As you said...there "isn't one bad one" in Creepshow 1's batch.
Nielsen, Marshall, Barbeau and Holbrook NAIL it. Adrienne Barboobs MOST DEFINITELY...SHE WAS AWESOME in this. They brought acting veteran chops to a B movie and made it an A Movie.
Creepshow TWO...on the other hand? Well...something went wrong there. For some reason "Creeppshow 2" cheapened everything at a time when studios pumped more money into "the sequels" than they put into the original.
1 was well crafted. Well animated. Well written. Great music. Everything.
Creepshow 2 looked like they made it in 30 days.
    Let's stick w #2 for a moment.
"Old Chief Woodenhead" was a BAD choice for "leadoff". A better "story" than a HORROR story. As it just isn't that scary. More dumb than anything, but still a cool "revenge tale". George Kennedy was ok in it. But it is EASILY the "bad one" of the 3 in that film (and WHY only 3 shorts? Again...something happened to "slash the budget" here, as it had a "4th" segment that never made it.
SECOND segment (however) almost saves the whole film. THE RAFT was not only a great segment but also a great short story from the book. Another great "chase" tale. And plays on the old "don't fall asleep" "you're all alone" (Body Snatchers motif). The Raft is a fun gem.
And THEN..."the all time hambone...over the top masterpiece"...known as "THE HITCHHIKER". LOIS CHILES gives "THE best performance of all of the segments in any of them...except for EG Marshall or Leslie Nielsen in the original). Always great to see a sexy Bond Girl in a B Movie, who CAN act do her thing in a totally over the top way. The Hitchhiker is another one that (if "Old Chief Woodenhead" wasnt part of the 3)...MAY have saved "Creepshow 2".
But what sinks it totally? Is Savini's ridiculous "Creep Mask"...the terrible animation and intros and the TERRIBLE voice of "The Creep". Dubbed worse than a Godzilla film it was.
    Creepshow 1. 4 stars.
    Creepshow 2. 2 stars.
And THEN the wretched refuse known as "Creepshow 3" (aka: "Tales From The Darkside".)
Rather than waste your time talking about "Tales"...let us just be generous and say "well...it LOOKED good. They definitely made it LOOK better and had a decent cast. But my God...were the segments pathetic. Looked like a "late 70s Irwin Allen Movie". (A-list stars in a Grade Z movie. Looked technically ok...but no script and piss poor writing.
Tales is so bad, it should be left OUT of this so-called "trilogy".
Not only was the TITLE dumb...(why "drop the Creepshow" name?)...Creepshow 2 wasnt THAT bad.
But that thing was a BOMB.
Tales is 1 star at best. (The Gargoyle segment is pathetic trash.)
Then ya got those "wannabe Creepshows" made "in name only" (There IS a named "Creepshow 3 and 4 and even 5. Although 5 I can't find ANYWHERE. Yet it was made. And like those other "in name onlys"? They are worse than an Asylum film.
    All of those? Garbage.
But Creepshow 1 AND eveb 2? 8 stories that are fun and fascinating to watch. If watched IN A ROW...the taste of "Creepshow 2" comes off better than as a "stand alone".
If EVER a film deserved a proper "remake"...it is Creepshow 2. They could REALLY amp up "Woodenhead" and actually make it scary and have a veteran actor (say a Harrison Ford or a Michael Douglas type with a Faye Dunaway playing the wife...they can "camp it up" (Dunaway is good at camp) and then have someone like Keanu Reeves play the villain.
Could be a great segment with vastly better FX.
