The Evo is a Pro! Looking forward to seeing the upgrades - I already got my hands on a brushless version (super fun) and am looking forward to upgrading it!
I swapped the front and rear body posts to lower the front because the frame is in the way in stock form. Now the body is even lower. THE EVO IS A PRO! I watch this video a lot!
I think yeah it’ll be wide for class 2. The problem with the hobbyplus portal boxes is you need a decent offset wheel to clear the boxes or the 1.2 tires they come with. Something I’ll have to play around with. You could also swap to the regular width stub shafts. I was contemplating converting my fx118 to the evo chassis and body and getting a full 2 speed to try and set up a dig or overdrive trans. But adding all those parts up is almost as much as just getting the brushed truck. So I might just haha.
It’s nice to see more & more people getting the Evo eventually people will start modifying & adjusting it to wring out the most performance there is already a few people that have moved the drive shaft to the second position to help the torque twist which it definitely has I adjusted my shock position & & when I checked the the shocks not even a drop came out so I added oil & installed the free light kit that came with it. I got the Furitek brushless version & the day after I purchased mine they were sold out again I put mine on the wishlist & they sent me a email when they came in & I went right to the site & ordered it had a waited even just a few hrs I wouldn’t have got it.
The change is simple. Just get the correct axle housing that lets you put the ring from the diff on the opposite side and then move the drive shaft to the other output on the trans and you are good to go.
I'm looking around for getting in the field and I want to know: what is a comp rig? Competition, right? Been following you for a few weeks, love the videos!
First off... WELCOME to the community! And yes, Comp is short for Competition. You can learn all about the different classes and comp rules at RCMCCA.ORG
Good review Ken. Thanks! So with the surge in 1/18, how is that gonna work with comps? Are they gonna run with the 1/24th's or separate? How does the size of EVO Pro compare with say a Gladi wheel based 1/24th? Thanks! Evo is Pro
Thanks good sir. Rcmcca.org doesn’t care about “scale” only gate width. I have a video coming tomorrow or Monday comparing the evo pro to a bunch of rigs. ;)
@@TheShopMiniRCGreat! Look forward to it! I guess, more broadly, I was also thinking about folks that have built courses for their 1/24th's and whether the 1/18th's still "fit" on them and/or look good and not like a monster truck driving on a BMX race course....LOL!
Great video Ken! This platform is awesome, really the best RTR on the market! Super excited to see what people start doing with them. IMO the brushed one is the way to go, 280 motor is great-the stock 130 in the Evo is underpowered. If anything, a 180 would reduce some weight and clear the front links.
They don’t do anything for the furitek brushless setup. All the settings for the furitek are in the app If you have the brushed version, you use those switches to adjust drag brake. The manual shows how. (I also thought I showed it in the video.)
I bought 3 of these , having problems with 2 of them not shifting between gears properly. Looks like the plastic servo / horn for the transmission skips a tooth or two and then it won’t go into gear properly. Is a servo upgrade that has metal gears that would fit ?
People constantly change out the bodies in these things. From other RCs, to toys, we see people change them all the time. Just got to get creative with mounting them sometimes. ;)
@@TheShopMiniRC Thank you for your response man! Very kind of you to reply so quickly. One last question, what's the run time on the stock battery? Even just off the top of your head.
@@TheShopMiniRC Thanks, how are your drives acts holding up? I hear they are a weak point. Sorry for all the bother my friend but would you happen to know any sources/videos showing how to change them? I'm a newbie so I don't want to mess anything up.
@@nasaw7798 I had to replace em a few weeks ago. It’s an easy fix/upgrade. You probably don’t need a video for it. Just 1 screw on it. Worst case if you can’t get the shaft t slide out, unscrew your shock and it will let you axle drop down enough to slide the shaft out. Pretty easy!
Without the Fury Wagon, this truck would not exist in this form. Furitek helped influence Hobby Plus' design here. Also, there isnt THAT much different between the two other than the chassis. Also, the Hobby Plus brushless is MORE expensive than the FX118

i love your videos going into important details. I dislike this rig.. in fact, the last few rigs from hp. they are behind fms in quality and innovation. what would have been amazing is if they instead provided a kit allowing you to decide single or 2-speed, brushed or brushless;. and have already a fix for that torque twist as its been around for far too long in multiple rigs. too many negatives for me, mainly being lack of innovation. Its like how new laptops in 2023/24 put in new processor, but didn't fix the actual consumer issues, and still managed to remove some stuff consumers liked in previous models; just like cell phones lack innovation. But alas, this is exactly how capitalism has been working the past few years.
I hear yah. I think many companies leave things for the the customer to “fix”. It gets people to open up the truck. But I get it. ;) Thanks a ton for watching in spite of your disappointment in the truck.

you can try adjusting your endpoints and trim of channel 3.
try this th-cam.com/video/mZLpELSbraI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0oOZ1U9ribmV9WeX
