    Similar setup to my 18 xsr900. Love the look but be careful with those sliders. I recommend an engine and stator gaurd as well. Dropped mine on the side of the road full of sand and it literally sanded a bit of paint off the stator cover

    • @TheMagicJellybean9
      @TheMagicJellybean9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did consider engine guards, because they are much safer, but I was recommended to use the frame sliders instead. I was ok with paying the extra cost for the frame guards, but I was told they would be very bulky and my limit my lean angle or they could catch something on the ground and cause me to slide/fall.
      But definitely would love to get the case and stator covers but to be honest they're not my biggest priority just yet only because I have the frame sliders now. If I still have Xodia by then I wouldn't be above getting them.

    Of all the cool ass Rizoma mirrors, chinese copy-cats had to copy these foul looking things... But you're the first I've seen with some Rizoma-like mirrors on an XSR, great reference for me to figure out how they'd look on mine! Thanks!!
    Those sliders looks dangerous to be honest. Ones that stick that much out are known to just bite into the road and throw your motorcycle up in the air in case of a slide.
    Overall pretty cool looking bike though. Can't go wrong with the XSR, great base for any mod

    • @TheMagicJellybean9
      @TheMagicJellybean9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely these mirrors are dangerous compared to other mirrors. At night, the tint makes it difficult to see, and even in the daytime, there is less visible areas compared to other mirrors.
      I have grown accustomed to them and I have them set in a way where I see directly behind me. I prefer doing head-checks to see what's beside me.

    • @TheMagicJellybean9
      @TheMagicJellybean9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As for the sliders, I wanted to get the engine guards but those were $150. At the time, I was tight on cash and so $40 frame sliders is better than no protection. In the long run, the sliders might come off when I get the full engine cage/guard
      I appreciate it bro!

      Absolutely... I actually just took my windscreen off (I prefer to not have one now). If you want mine, I wouldn't mind selling + shipping it to you. If you want to buy new, here's the link. Not sure if it's still available

    can you go lower on the bars? they still look kinda high

    • @TheMagicJellybean9
      @TheMagicJellybean9  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could. I bought the one inch risers and I left them on the upward position. If you wanted to, you could reverse them so they sit under the clips. And if you wanted to go all out, you could get the two inch risers and reverse them. I left these up because I wanted a little lean, but not too much that it feels like a true 600 sport bike. I've ridden one before and those ergo's are too painful for me on longer rides if it's any lower than this.

    Time for a new chain

  • @davidrcordeiro
    @davidrcordeiro 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice bunch of mods, some I link more then others but I respect the individual choices. NOW... that being said, what is up with that chain? You need to change it, it’s clearly showing signs of stress.

    • @TheMagicJellybean9
      @TheMagicJellybean9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you asked because I definitely forgot to mention it in the video but immediately realized that. The chain actually still is pretty good. Keep in mind, this is the original chain. I bought the bike at 8,000 miles and the chain was actually very filthy and brown when I bought it (brown all over). Now, you can see the silver again (albeit there are some brown spots still left). The first time I cleaned it, there was a lot of dirt that came off. I must have did 3-4 rounds of actual cleaning the first time and the ground looked like a nasty sewer system lol.
      I've put about 4.5k miles on it now. I lube the chain meticulously, usually every 150-200 miles or if it just looks dry. I clean it with a brush every 1,000k. Honestly, although I don't know how well kept it was before me, based on the sprocket teeth still looking healthy, I'm not on the edge of my seat about the chain, but I do want plan to change it before 15,000 miles.
      Now as far as the mods:
      I actually like the stock chain and gearing ratios so I don't plan on changing those. I don't care about lightweight racing chains so I will just buy another OEM chain or if there is a more durable chain (even if it's heavier) I will go with that brand. I was recommended to use the EK chains so I might go with them.
      I also plan on getting those hybrid sprockets that have strong teeth but the middle-part is lightweight as I heard those perform much better than OEM sprockets and take more of a beating.
      The only reason I haven't changed the chain/sprockets yet is because I first want to get that tool that makes adjusting the chain easier. I think it's called EZ chain, but I'm not entirely sure. As you've figured out by now, most work beyond oil changes and chain lubes/adjustments I don't do myself. I'm pretty handy with a wrench and a car but I'm a little uncomfortable doing work on the bike myself because if I make a mistake, it's my life. So I have 78 Motorsport do most of the fancy stuff.

    • @davidrcordeiro
      @davidrcordeiro 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Magic Jellybean it’s not so much the cleaning/ oiling part, it’s that clearly there are visible kinks between the links along the chain that are tell tale signs the chain needs to go. Most probably it wasn’t properly maintained previously or the chain tension has been off for a long duration of its life. That created tight spots on the chain length and kinked up the links. If it was me I would look to replace it as your next mod.

    • @TheMagicJellybean9
      @TheMagicJellybean9  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidrcordeiroI definitely agree with you there. The chain on my 954 snapped on me before I sold it and so I am always paranoid about chains. It was a brand new chain too 😬
      It's getting replaced with some new sprockets before I do anything new.

    You should never mix your tires. They all should be the same brand and style ! Danger. Those thing are call frame sliders. You should also remove the tank decal. but overall nice bike.

    • @TheMagicJellybean9
      @TheMagicJellybean9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely had a brain fart when naming some of the mods 😂
      As far as the tires, I normally don't mix them, but that's what came on it when I got it from the dealer I prefer Pirelli angel tires.
      The decal will come off eventually. I have goo-gone for the residue afterwards... But it hasn't bothered me enough to remove it yet

    • @TheMagicJellybean9
      @TheMagicJellybean9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respect your opinion... it all comes down to personal preference of course.
      The main thing to consider is that I care more about function over form... Yes it may not be as pretty to look at, but every mod I've done has greatly improved the actual ride experience and quality of life. For example, it probably looks dorky to have a cargo net on the back... but it's downright the most useful mod I've done. And it was the cheapest. I've hauled so many items because of it while my car was being repaired.
      The handle-bar to clip on conversion while it may not look as good, significantly improved highway commuting (which is what i mostly do). The stock handlebars will have you catching wind like a sailor. The clip on conversion pitches you forward about 7-10 degrees. It's not much but it makes wind buffeting much less extreme. I could ride without the windscreen up to about 110 MPH before I have to tuck in to stay comfortable.
      I got the replica exhaust because it was on a killer price for $185+60 international shipping. Lightly used. Was very hard to pass up. It wasn't about getting a new exhaust, I just wanted to get rid of the stock one and shed weight. Personally I prefer a brand like black widow because those come with a baffle. I wish the exhaust I got had one but that's the price I paid for it so I'm content with it.
      There were a few things that did go wrong. The windshield, I did order and the wrong color was sent to me. I also thought it would be smaller but it's a bit bigger than what they showed in the modelling pictures.
