    It's lovely to hear your thoughts, especially about sound, where you hit the nail on the head. Background noise all but drowns out the sound of my heat pumps/ AC units. And given the pump's cycling, the increased sound is not constant. I doubt anyone will be sitting out at minus five to try to hear above the traffic. Thankfully, the work being undertaken now to the local and national grid network will ensure it is up to the task. Hence the trials.
    Excellent you are participating in that trial, and have an open mind and give an honest view.

    the warning signs are when they have to do a heat loss calculations... if you want a nice cosy home keep your boiler.. you can have a warm home with a heat pump but it will cost you more to run.. what they never tell you is if you have two identical houses one with gas the other with a heat pump and run the same flow temperatures..... why would you fix what isn't broken?

    Hi Trev, Ed here - we used to run at HRR together! I thought I recognised you! Thanks for the video, we are 3 days into our ASHP install today, hopefully finished tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing it up and running. Best wishes from the Peak District!

      Hey Ed, how are you doing? still running much? good luck with the install.. mine was very smooth and it was fairly straightforward to get used to but let me know if you need any tips.. good timing before it gets colder again! Trev

      sorry to hear this Steve. did you contact the installers to check its set up correctly? that certainly shouldnt be the case and all the examples we know heat the house fine. if its only been a week I'd reccomend eg changing the settings etc

    Does it get as hot as a gas boiler?

    • @trevwilliamsmusic

      short answer is it "can" be.. but thats not the efficient way to run it. I did a short explanation in todays live stream but hope to answer more Heat Pump questions in a video soon too.

    Everyone raves about heat pumps and yes they heat the house and work in the winter . everyone who has one installed reels of great cop figures and how warm it is and how much better than a combi boiler ect, but the question that is never answered is what is the payback? Same as solar! When do you get free electricity? Never get the answer.

      What is the payback when you spend 5000 on a holiday

  • @bigmeltie1

    No - avoid. Stop for spells of 90 minutes in winter on top of the vibration and noise. Slow to respond to temperature changes.. Control system complex with very expensive components to replace. Hyped up by makers and sellers.

    Having a system that is needed most in winter while being much less effective in winter seems like poor design, much like using solar for heating

    • @trevwilliamsmusic

      I don't think I said it was less effective in winter. it worked great through last winter, but it works harder as any system would. Solar for heating again is a better use of energy if you can store the heat!

    Air heat pumps are useless, had one installed, gone back to gas after a year. Ok if you like your hot water luke warm and heat indoors never went above 16'C on full setting.

      keep the gas boiler, you can dry your washing for free on the radiators while the heat pump guys use tumble dryers at more expense

    • @mobi1etone

      @@robin5215 What a lot of these heat pump guys fail to mention is there's a heating element in the water tank, so it's hardly any different to an electric boiler when it's cold. They think the systems are like a cold fusion reactor or something. Getting much more energy out than they put in. lol.

    A heat pump is such an ugly thing to have anywhere on the outside of your house let alone on the front.

    • @trevwilliamsmusic

      um, well I don't really mind the look of it at all, but you can of course put a box / decorate it etc if you wished.

      Climate change is a lot uglier. Considering the threat facing the planet, your aesthetic considerations seem rather trivial.
