It's cool to actually see a garbage truck in action, I had to crawl down into the garbage chute of an industrial compactor to clear a jam and it was really interesting to see the hydraulic ram in all its glory (thankfully it wasn't moving because I was standing in its path)

@@NeighborhoodGarbageman That was the one and only time I did it, someone dumped a heap of uncut lumber down the chute with the hope of it compacting, but ended up wedging itself in a way to prevent the ram from being able to make a full pass. I was the youngest on the crew so I was the volunteer to help clean it out. I came out looking like I fell in a puddle of mud and smelled like the inside of a wheelie bin.
Ever since then I have a huge respect for the folks who work in sanitation.
