I have a client that travels the US doing rib competitions. He told me that when he’s at home and has people over he doesn’t fire up his big smokers. He uses the Orion and he swears it turns out exactly the same. That was enough to convince me! Got mine last week and the ribs were unreal! Gonna do a Boston butt tomorrow! Thanks for the video!!

These are great cookers I've had one for about 10 years now. The one is this video was brand new of course that's why you didn't see much bark on the meat. It takes about 3 cooking to get the cooker seasoned. After that it's great. Try smoking a whole chicken on it takes about 1:10 to cook and it's awesome.

I have cooked pulled pork several times on the Orion cooker. It never makes it tender enough to shred with my hands. One was even tough

I agree; although everyone in the crowd and the chef said it was moist, it looked very dry to me. The ones I do on my Weber Smokey Mountain almost pull themselves. I do have this cooker, so I’ll try it with a butt. But I’ll put some apple juice in the pan and wrap it, as he did, with some added moisture.

I hope these results aren't typical when it comes to pulled pork. It looked very difficult to shred. I might blame the wind for making it too hot and drying it out.

I've had one for about 10 years - cooking in a windy environment will affect the temps; I think this piece of meat coulda used another 15 or 20 minutes - when real, fall-apart tender, best to pull out the grate with the meat on it, when done; drip pan has been re-designed but handles for the pan are still an issue - pulling out the pan when done is a pain and if there is a lot of grease, it gets spilled and makes for a very messy & difficult cleanup (the one big draw back to this device.) One feature I like is that you can cook 6 full racks of baby-back ribs at the same time (the 'hangers' are briefly shown in the video holding down the tin-foil). There is also an attachment to do turkeys. There are 3 cooking grates so you can cook a *whole* lot of food. I prefer using chips instead of the 'sawdust-type' stuff and generally will use oak or hickory; more chips = more intense smoky flavor. Meat will be moist if the unit is not opened during cooking process. Water in pan only for beef brisket & fish; There are a lot of variations in the process that can be modified - best to start as shown in this video (without the wind). After about a dozen uses, I ventured to cook a $100+ prime rib - amazing. Check out the manual (significantly improved from the original) cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0201/1256/files/orion_cooker_manual_r2web_664bce4d-6373-4762-be93-f03f212aeae9.pdf?10410584052095638266

Thank you for watching and all the information. Yes the wind does effect it . But this was an impromptu video. I was very happy with the results. It was cooked perfect for me and basically I was able to pull apart with my hands. But we prefer it finely chopped here in NC. Have a great 4th.

Owned an Orion Cooker. Meats came out OK, but my recollection was that the smoke flavor had a musty element to it. My guess is because the meats cook in a closed loop where air is not free flowing into an inlet and exhausted thru outlet.
