"A mirror never lies. They know, everybody knows. Do you not see what they see? A mirror never lies. I see what they see. Everybody knows, everybody knows!" love the ending..
I love the story based on the poem. So beautiful and yet, morbid. Only Alesana and Edgar Allan Poe could create such beautiful and horrifying words to describe the "desperate screams of the helpless begging for their very lives."
Annabel shouldn't have died. But the Artist handed her a knife and his heart. So now he feels the Emptiness every night he sits by her tomb by the sounding sea. And wishes his nightmare will end. Alesana
This is such a good song... The lyrics are strong and full of meaning, the voices near the end send shivers down your spine. It's like you are the person, insane and delusional, thinking you've killed the one you love, until she kills you...
I recently lost a loved one, he was my boyfriend.. im 14, and my bestfriend was helping me get over it and recomended me listen to this song.. alesana is helping me get over my loss..:(
@colorfulcrisis no, thats the opening to the cd. its also the begining to the music video for the thespian. the whole cd is a story, (i preordered & got a book explaining the whole story) that part is the very begining of the story from the little included booklet :D
+xDreamKitty The story goes that he slowly went insane while annabel watched, he went off into the night and she had to kill him for her own safety. then some weird shit happens with time travel to see if she could save him and she ends up killing her past self and everything explodes and confessions is a weird album.
@iluvmytwintay as you know, the cd is a story, and this is the first part of the story where the artist finds annabel dead, and as u can tell by da lyrics he isnt coping very well with this situation, " the smell of blood still crawls" annabels blood "i kiss you softly goodbye" because she is dead.
@bleedingmascara667 No, the song is based of off Edgar Allen Poe's poem "Annabel". I believe that is supposed to be EAP on the album cover in the mirror... "Annabel" (and I may be mistaken) is based on EAP's own wife who died.
Beautiful. Maybe not my favorite band, but they're right up there(oddly, with All Time Low and Amber Pacific haha). This is by far my favorite album as a whole. The story is so poetic, even if it is a bit disturbing and creepy. It's still beautiful. And the music is love.
@frecklespeckle99 the whole album is basically a story written by shawn and dennis. The basis of their story is inspired or based around "Annabel Lee". Hope that helps
My angel lie to me! And tell me I'm dreaming! I love this song so much and I'm so glad my bf had me listen to them today for the first time ever I can't stop listening to them Ive played each of their songs like 15 times each :3 I love them so much!
@livelifelovedie1 You're wrong as well, While the album itself is indeed based upon most of Edgar's writings in Annabel Lee, the song is about him killing his love because of her lies, which is explained in their song "Annabel", this being the epilogue. He is drowning in sorrow, so his mind creates a scene that allows him to believe she died, until he looks in the mirror, and sees the blood "that was once her's".
@Ookami377 The girls name isn't really annabel, It takes after Edgar Allen Poe's poem, labeled 'Annabel Lee', which is about his lover since childhood, In her castle by the sounding sea, and she dies, and he is tortured by it in his nightmares and so forth, the last sentence in the poem being 'In her tomb by the sounding sea' Explaining the title of their song in her tomb by the sounding sea, and it also explains a lot of their lyrics on this album 'the emptiness' (:
The burden of pain is inevitable, i miss her so much and shes so far away....i feel the burden between us and i wish i could end it. This song makes me think of her everytime i hear it
@XTimoZ, don't correct people unless you know what you're talking about. The album is about a sketch artist who thinks he kills his love when at the end, it turns out that it was just an illusion and she kills him because he has fallen too far from reality and was creating demented sketches. That's why in "Annabel" he asks "Did you ever think the sketches would take over completely?"
I need to see these guys live but they have really crappy bands supporting them :( The struggle, i wanna go to a show with lots of good bands and get full moneys worth. Their new album is a continuation on The Emptiness isnt it? thats sick, concept albums fucking rule
@gobspiker wow thats cool! XD SO howd you do the screaming parts? I know only me and my old friend liked music like this everybody else looks down on it :( they have no taste in my mind but then again im an artist anyway that must have been screay
@LoveHateIndiffrence The whole emptiness album is based on the book written by Shawn and Dennis, the two singers of the band. While that book is loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's poem, it isn't directly related to it. Just pointing that out
oh my god every time i here this song i get chills all over my body and then about 3/4 into it my eyes always start to tear up no song has made me tear up before
@KnightsHarlot Annabel is the girl that is making an Artist crazy in the year of 1898 at 16april they went to sleep. The next morning he wakes up and discovered she died. Its a whole story i got the book 'The Emptiness' Written by alesana. It was with the pre ordered bundles. The end is so epic..
@ayoung1on Since They're basing this album off of Edgar Allan Poe's poems including his character Annabel Lee based on Virgina Poe, Edgar's wife, then I assume she dies the same way. Virginia died of Tuberculosis so it is probably safe to assume that Annabelle Lee also died of the same ailment, even though it is not said in the poem.
2023 and i still come back to alesana. they take me back to a time when i still had my innocence.
Let us have a moment of silence for when this was the heaviest thing I listened to

I love the story based on the poem. So beautiful and yet, morbid. Only Alesana and Edgar Allan Poe could create such beautiful and horrifying words to describe the "desperate screams of the helpless begging for their very lives."

So he is singing about his girlfriend that was murdered and he blames whoever the killer is but in the end he was the killer the whole time..
It's based on Edgar Allan Poe's poems
+xDreamKitty He's stuck inside a painting.... in the end of the story Annabels actually the murderer.
+xDreamKitty Annabel didn't die.
+xDreamKitty The story goes that he slowly went insane while annabel watched, he went off into the night and she had to kill him for her own safety. then some weird shit happens with time travel to see if she could save him and she ends up killing her past self and everything explodes and confessions is a weird album.

@bleedingmascara667 No, the song is based of off Edgar Allen Poe's poem "Annabel". I believe that is supposed to be EAP on the album cover in the mirror... "Annabel" (and I may be mistaken) is based on EAP's own wife who died.

Alesana + Edgar Allen Poe = Perfection
@livelifelovedie1 You're wrong as well, While the album itself is indeed based upon most of Edgar's writings in Annabel Lee, the song is about him killing his love because of her lies, which is explained in their song "Annabel", this being the epilogue. I don't think I dislike a single song Alesana has made
@KnightsHarlot the album is based on the poem Annabel Lee :)
I need to see these guys live but they have really crappy bands supporting them :(
The struggle, i wanna go to a show with lots of good bands and get full moneys worth.
Their new album is a continuation on The Emptiness isnt it? thats sick, concept albums fucking rule
@gobspiker wow thats cool! XD SO howd you do the screaming parts? I know only me and my old friend liked music like this everybody else looks down on it :( they have no taste in my mind but then again im an artist anyway that must have been screay
i think this is the best mix of scremo and sensitive lyrics
@rex4742 Is shawn sister, melissa milke, she also does all female vocals in Alesana
@LoveHateIndiffrence The whole emptiness album is based on the book written by Shawn and Dennis, the two singers of the band. While that book is loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's poem, it isn't directly related to it. Just pointing that out
oh my god every time i here this song i get chills all over my body and then about 3/4 into it my eyes always start to tear up no song has made me tear up before
"Will i ever be able to sleep again"
No, will i be able to sleep again after hearing this song.
he has such a haunting voice :D
@DINOBOT630 the whole album is based off Edgar Allen Poe, he had a girl always in his poems named Annabel
