Croatia is a beautiful country. If you visit Split be sure to take a day trip to Krka National Park, Zadar and Brac Island. A road trip from Split to Dubrovnik is also recommended if you have time.
Very amazing place. Take time to know it. About a week maybe will do, and then you will never go. I've been there in 1984, before the great war in Yugoslavia. You will always stand there and look with an open mouth. So wonderful, so beautiful. Split!

Split is best experienced in late spring, preferably in a season of high atmospheric pressure called "Bura weather". Otherwise you're in for humidity and (if you come too late) serious heat.
Fun fact: The Diocletian palace basment, shown at 3:18, is the dungeon, from the Game of thrones, where Daenerys Targaryen enclosed her dragons. A lot of GOT scenes were filmed in and around Split.

UNFORTUNATELY Split today is place of Croatian Nazi Chauivnism called Ustase.They attacked many visitors.

this year we have a three days of heavy, cold wind, bura .. in mid summer ... that is very uncommon, even strange .. I never saw that in mid summer
