    What happened to having ex soldiers in the prison system one it would help with having ex veterans off the streets and you’d have people in the job who don’t scare easily

      Hi there, I'm ex service and I worked in HMP Parc for about 18 months. It was initially run by Securicor. Every single day was pandemonium and dangerous. There were two staff on a wing of 250 men who had to be unlocked at the same time. Private prisons are chaotic and dangerous; we had many occasions where we were supposed to declare that we needed tornado teams but it didn't happen because they cost money and they would mean KPI's weren't met. They were happy to let the staff have horrendous conditions. So glad I left. I'm afraid the prison system doesn't respond to military values.

    One of my best mates worked at Winson Green as a senior officer, not long after G4S took over he had his shoulder broken and dislocated, ribs broken. All by a muppet on Black Mamba. He's a big guy too.

      @darrennorgrove8734 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The green is my local prison and from a inmate perspective when g4s ran the place it was out of control no good but having been in there before and after g4s it's a lot better ran by normal hmp cos with the hmp screws in the green you know exactly where you stand no messing with them

    Most of these prisons are the old victorian designs. The Tories closed roughly 18 prisons since 2013 and rebuild prisons that are the old Victorian designs. Surely since 2000, there could be more up to date prisons, far better designs than the old ones. The old victorian prisons are bound to stress prisoners to the maximum. Punishment and rehabilitation should go hand in hand.

  • @John-eo4zm

    Real problems outlined. I can’t see how they can maintain security and with the recruitment you’ve mentioned higher risk of staff complicit in drug supply..

    i have a question, like you said the courses for new starters are 75% female, is that because the male prisoners are nicer to the female staff, obviously you don't attack a woman. But i would assume and think the male officers are fair game to abuse and violence, thats one reason why i wouldn't join up. i know they are desperate for staff, i see them advertise for prison staff on indeed all the time for forest bank. The money looks good but i just think fuck that, i couldnt put up with being in that kind of environment.

    the problem with private prisons is profit before people their init to make money and this PFI and PPO scams and the worst one is the magic of savings and how that connects to the executive pay bonus structure if your in charge of spending the money but you alos get a bonus based on savings you make wheres the incnetive not to run it into the ground and run it at the point of breaking and the bare minium level of service they can getr away with cause if make them savings i then just award them savings to myself as a bonus for makign the savings and thats the problem with private prisons

    Not being funny but talking from experience of doing my fair share of time behind the door in The Green, Forest Bank and Blakenhurst to name a few, there is nothing that makes our jails more dangerous than inexperienced screws and too many women screws! Most women aren't built for the job, im sorry but its true.

    I was in the most dangerous womans prison in Sydney,Australia. Called Mulluwa. I was bringing in herion n suboxon strips and pills.This girl thought she try her luck and dog shot me. Punched me in the back of my head. The two guards were in their early 20s women. Who would not take on use on because we had do not approach with 4 guards on our files. They watched us fight for over 5 minutes before back up came. We were konked out after 3 minutes of swinging punches. She stabbed me with a thin piece of fencing 3 times also. But i had no problem hitting a officer.I thought if the officer wants to be dum and get involved be ready to get it.If i respected them I'd tell them its not worth getting hit.
