  • Further aerial footage and surface photography of the continuing landslip demolishing the B4069 in Wiltshire, on the outskirts of Lyneham, Bradenstoke and Dauntsey.
The land has moved rapidly since the last update on the 14th March, and water is gathering on the hillside above having saturated the disturbed earth. Significant rifting has occurred both above and below the "road".
There is a short bonus clip at the end showing a train heading towards Chippenham, where the railway and canal run alongside each other.

"Caution mud on road" is a bit of an understatement

How TF did they get planning permission to start new buildings in the slippage zone??? Bravo Local Council. Stupidity of the highest level there.

Fantastic footage as usual. I was told the site was bought by travellers so the development may not be covered by insurance. So most likely the Council/us will foot the repair costs.

Will the road ever be reopened?

At this point, I don't see how it could - at least in a reasonable time frame.
The council worker I met was very skeptical as well.

@@wondergroundimages agreed. The slippage seems so severe, plus the slope doesn’t appear to be able to support any sort of road any more.
