As Bishop Barron once said, and I'll never forget, Love is willing the good of the other, as other. As you know, God is Love. Find God and you find love. Find Love and you can't be anything but Happy. God Bless

Thank you so much dear Fr. Spitzer! We must pray that our Godless society will receive and accept a massive conversion from our Lord and Savior!
A Godless world causes the most extreme pull towards Hell with a bottomless Abyss of temptation towards the deadliest of Sins. May EveryOne fall to the foot of the cross and give their souls back to The Father through the blood of Jesus The Christ, amen!

Concepts discussed in this video are good psychology; i.e, science. Are you not aware of Carl Jung et al? Science evolves and opens doors to mysticism now. Humble human, you are not all knowing. Hostility is your top note per your comments. Sad!

GREAT SPEECH by a GREAT LECTURER! I came to know father Spitzer by his work on theology (particularly the revision of the ontological argument), but here he provides a spectacular religious talk with psychological touch, educational purpose and rousing emphasis.. chapeau bas! Only pity that they didn't give him much occasion to wander about physics topics in Q&A!

Hmmm. I tried level 3 for over 17 years, toward the end of those years I resented doing it. Their I was trying to be a loving son, caring for aged family, being a good neighbour by helping where I could, and being a good brother by taking care of my brothers young child. But I saw people I knew getting rich, buying new homes and cars. And I was forced to live in a basement. Hearing about people going to parties, and events while I was cleaning an aged family members poop off the rug because they decided to just throw it. Friends were getting married and having families, and I was stuck taking care of another man’s child, knowing I had nothing of value to offer any woman. I hated myself for being fooled that my actions pleased God, and amounted to nothing. The price you pay is to high at level 3 to be of any value to people like me who have nothing.

I read about a person who sacrificed his life to serve others and feel bad about himself 😢 but Jesus said to us whatever you do to the least of my breather You Do To ME if that promise is known to a person it makes it it easier to give of themselves to help. But this person sacrificed his life and seems like it was not appreciated I pray that God’s blessings will be showered on him✝️🙏❤

It unfortunately sounds like you ended up in a position where you focused *only* on level 3, abandoning level 2 and I'm sorry to hear that.
Father Spitzer explains at around 1:13:00 in the Q&A that there is absolutely nothing wrong with level 2.
In fact, he says Level 2 happiness is really good. This makes practical sense. We all have to get a job, earn money etc to survive and thrive. And there is nothing wrong with being a high achiever, getting a high paying job etc.
The problem is when you measure your level of happiness *only* on your level 2 achievements/status/power etc, comparing yourself against everyone around you. Instead, he is suggesting to use level 2 as a means to support higher level 3/4 values.
Unlike you, I ended up focusing too much on level 2.I am in a well paid job etc now, living in an expensive apartment but I feel a deep emptiness of not doing a great deal of good beyond myself (level 3).
It's a balance that's required. In my opinion, your kind nature for all those years was not in vain - it was just a long period of time when you focused too much on level 3 just as I did with level 2.
Wish you all the best in the future

eudaimonia, also spelled eudaemonia, in Aristotelian ethics, the condition of human flourishing or of living well. The conventional English translation of the ancient Greek term, “happiness,” is unfortunate because eudaimonia, as Aristotle and most other ancient philosophers understood it, does not consist of a state of mind or a feeling of pleasure or contentment, as “happiness” (as it is commonly used) implies. For Aristotle, eudaimonia is the highest human good, the only human good that is desirable for its own sake (as an end in itself) rather than for the sake of something else (as a means toward some other end).
