WOW! I've watched thousands of card-making videos and have never seen this technique... I'm amazed at how great those cards came out. I can't wait to try this.
If you love this video, you should also watch the video by Bitty Penny where she makes frankenpaper cards. These videos add another entirely new 6:03 dimension to cardmaking. Kind of life changing!
Great idea for using scraps. It looks like fun at the same time. I was surprised that such random placement of cardstock resulted in really cute cards!
This is one one of my new favorite videos. Wasn't really sure about what the end result was going to be. My husband looked over at me because I gasped when I saw how gorgeous the cards were. 😍
I've been making handmade cards for 25 + years. What I like best and have never done is pieced white cardstock together with smaller pieces of pattern cardstock. What a great idea! Thanks for sharing your time and talents with me.💜
I was a bit doubtful at first, especially about the darkest panel, but the end results are striking. I think what really holds it all together is the simple ink rubbing you did on each piece. Kudos!!
This is a fun video---loved the reveal. Nice to be able to give ourselves permission to put a patterned paper aside if it was taking too long to use it. (Mary)🇨🇦
Thank you! I'll be using my Christmas patterned scraps and a Merry Christmas stamp instead of the Hello to make my Christmas cards this year. I could also use my cat themed scraps for a Hello card. This is gonna be fun, I love using up leftovers.
What a great idea is the nice sentiment on the front including the shadow.. none of them look that busy at all. Thanks so much for sharing this technique. It is beautiful and great way to get rid of scraps🥰
Hi Jenny. I loved how these turned out. They reminded me so much of the beautiful crazy quilts my mother-in-law used to make years ago. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦
I appreciate that when you play music, it isn't significantly louder than your audio. Sometimes I can get blown away by the decible difference. "Gorgeous mixed up bunch of goodness!" I love that phrase. Your cards turned out so fantastic. I am so excited to break out my scraps and see what I can do too! Thank you for sharing your creativity and passion with us.
I watch a lot of youtube Content myself and one of the things that I don't like very much is when loud music comes over people talking or the audio is not adjusted in between talking and music. Most of the time this audio difference happens when people haven't learned how to edit the sound yet. I always lower the volume on music including in my intro and whenever I'm talking over the outro. I want you to be able to hear what I'm saying but at the same time know when there is a change in project or the video is coming to a close. Thank you for your kind comments, I so appreciate it!
These are great! I never thought to distress the edges before gluing them down! Can't wait to start working on my next "scrap buster" set of cards. Thanks for all your great ideas.
Hi! Just discovered you and your channel and I subscribed! Thanks for the great suggestions and especially thanks for the gluing on a book idea where you can just rip out the sheets with glue. BRILLIANT! Looking forward to viewing the rest of your videos!👏
I love this video, Jenny!! I will definitely be doing this too. I have heard some other crafty TH-camrs call these collage boards masterboards or Frankenboards (think Frankenstein) but they used them in junk journals or in scrapbooking. I love the look of them on cards! Thank you!
There are soooo many things you can do with masterboards - including scanning them and using the prints as backgrounds, if you wanted to make a whole set of cards,or multiple sets even. I prefer making one big masterboard and then cutting them up after - I would be too aware, using this approach, of where one card background was going to stop and start. I can really tend to overthink things, so masterboards are an awesome way for me to get past that and get started.
This year, I've switched to using up all the scraps of 1 paper pad before moving on to start another. Since paper pads are already coordinated it has really helped me to be more purposeful with cardmaking and/or other paper crafts. I am also not buying supplies because I am completely using up what I already have. I found this method by watching youtube videos on "smashing" a paper pad.
Like these a lot ... there's a simple elegance about them, but they're also warm and home-y. And you could take them in so many directions if wanting to fancy them up more. Seeing them with the layered sentiments in black and white, I wondered if they'd look even better with an additional black background layer to make the whole thing pop off the card (framing the whole patchwork background, not just the sentiment). Or I could see myself adding sentiment and embellishments in colours suited to each separate piece, and a coordinating colour of frame around the card.
Might I also add the after you get the size cut for your card fronts, run them thru an EMBOSSING FOLDER to give a texture depth and interest. Then when you put them onto the card it will make the "quilt" pop just a bit more!
I have so many scraps I sorted them in to zip lock bags so in some sorts order plain in small medium and large 3 bags same with patterned and also 2 boxes one with patterned small strips on with plain so plenty to use xx
I was looking for something to do this afternoon and this fits the bill, so thank you! *** The phrase you're looking for is "The best I can" not "as best as I can". "As best" doesn't even make sense, lol.
Good morning! I have some 6x6 white cardstock and want to use them up. Can anyone point me in the direction of some sketches to use with 6x6 CARDS not 6x6 paper. (As 6x6 paper usually uses an A2 sized card) Thank you

Who would have thought that those background panels would turn out so beautiful 🤩.
So pretty, unique and fun.
Wow, they turned out really pretty. Love this idea, thanks so much for sharing ❤
Great way to use up your White/Black scraps and the patterned paper. Super fun!
Great idea for using scraps. It looks like fun at the same time. I was surprised that such random placement of cardstock resulted in really cute cards!
That's how I felt the first time I did this sort of thing! It's really fun!
I enjoyed your diverse masterboard - what fun!
Wasn’t expecting the incredible end result. Brilliant!
This is one one of my new favorite videos. Wasn't really sure about what the end result was going to be. My husband looked over at me because I gasped when I saw how gorgeous the cards were. 😍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely agree with you…this is a funny “rainy day” project! Will definitely give it a try 🙌🏻🎉
This is fabulous. Thanks for sharing.
Just love the idea, I have to do that!! TFS!
If you’re going to cover the entire base you could use any color or pattern paper as the base. I love collage work! It’s so fun and creative!
Fun idea! I think that by using that brown ink color on the edges of each scrap it makes the scraps blend together and look cohesive.
Great Idea! I have scraps of paper!
Wow... Those are brilliant!

The results are so different from any one piece.! What a fun way to use up those scraps! Good looking cards.
Thanks for sharing your creativity with us. Enjoyed your video

enjoyed watching the process. Gives me some ideas of what to do with my scraps
Hi Jenny. I loved how these turned out. They reminded me so much of the beautiful crazy quilts my mother-in-law used to make years ago. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦
What a fun way to be creative and use your scraps! That’s so cool!❤❤❤
So creative, thanks for sharing your ideas and inspirations, Teresa in mn
Great cards Jennifer! thanks for sharing.😊
Love your idea using those scraps. All of the cards looked amazing. Can't wait to give it a go. TFS Kathy from Sydney Australia ❤️
So cool! I think inking up the edges of the scraps really made the collage. 👍
Agree, it helps to tie things together and makes it look like it has a cohesive colour scheme, despite the somewhat random scraps.
That was surprising (when you cut them!) and unexpectedly very fun! Great idea!
Great use of scraps! Also, love your intro!!
This is great tfs

Fabulous
Far too busy for my eyes. But isn’t it WONDERFUL that we don’t all feel that way.. ❤🕊❤️🕊❤️
Love it
Inspired to use my alcohol ink experiments as backgrounds. What adhesive roller do you use? It looks so easy to use.
I was looking for something to do this afternoon and this fits the bill, so thank you!

Great. Idea. To the regular strip card

I knew this idea would not work and you would end up with a mess. Boy was I wrong.
I love your card ideas but I don't approve of teari g up book , no matter how old they are
I can appreciate that 😊
