Primal Rage is a versus fighting game developed and released by Atari Games to arcades in August 1994. The game takes place on a post-apocalyptic version of Earth called "Urth". Players control one of seven large beasts that battle each other to determine the planet's fate. Matches feature many of the conventions of fighting games from the era including special moves and gory finishing maneuvers. Ports were released for home consoles and personal computers.

One of my fav games from MD.
Fun Fact: You can eat either your human and enemy human, but you lose a huge amount of score in the process. Somehow, this also apply to the bonus stage before the final showdown, so your final 'workship' score will get severe penalty. IDK if arcade follow the same concept, but I was able to archieve like >1m, you need both make fatality in every foe and also not eat human. Is pretty hard to beat the final battle without the health bonus, but is worth.

I still have this game for my PlayStation 2 in a compilation called
MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES 2 -
and it's rageful 😹🕹️.
And if i ever find it for my Amiga 500,
it could be retrospectively more rageful 😹!

I wonder if the 32X handles the sprites and the backgrounds are handled by the Mega-Drive, I've heard of other 32X games doing that.

Used to play this at the local convenience store way back when. aka: The mid 90s. Damn my ass is old!
The sequel? Yes, there was a sequel. Didn't look as good.

I tried the sequel at the galloping ghost arcade and I liked the graphics but I didn’t like the gameplay as much as the first, also even though the new human avatar characters were cool I preferred playing as monsters in the first game since that’s what made the original awesome

....MK with Dinosaurs.
There was a sequel, with a sweet looking Were-Sabertooth Tiger, & a Dragon.
Where is this remake at? PR > MK.

I still prefer playing the Mega Driver version. Doesn't seem that worthy in terms of improvements.
One thing to note, and I don't know if is intended, is that at the preparation stage where you eat your followers for bonus health, the game deduct your score points as penalty. Normal battles also do that but only when you eat your followers, not the foe followers. Also some controls imputs differs abit from arcade and Vertigo lost basically almost all her combos.
