#4 Vivian Campbell.
@@victorblack6995 yup
Hell yes!
Id consider Akira Takasaki for sure of the Big 4 of that Early 80’s Metal Guitarists with Warren, George and Jake, Randy as well but u said it best that Randy kinda missed the boat on it due to his death, Carlos Cavazo is also worth a mention great guitar playing from him in Quiet Riot
I heard Ozzy even punched Randy when he told him he was quitting
I don't get these guys letting Ozzy punch them, Randy, Rudy, even Kevin DuBrow. Ozzy abused other people, too; yet I never heard of anyone busting Ozzy's ass.
@@acorn-yy1gi It was probably a weak punch and because he was so wasted the receiver was probably like "hey chill out".
@@CoffeeStain-Musicthat’s officially called a Perry Punch now
@@acorn-yy1gi Tony Iommi has entered the chat...
@@philfrank5601 Tony used to bully all the other guys in Sabbath, correct? Any chance Ozzy felt he could bully people below him without Tony around?
Vivian Campbell!!
The boys from Judas Priest were delivering the goods, as were the boys in Iron Maiden and Scorpions.
& Speedy Foxx [Oz]
Yngwie is a honorable mention. Very influential on many hard rock/heavy metal guitarists from 84 to 87. He pretty much kicked off the "Mike Varney/Shrapnel" era.
Eddie, Randy, Jake, George, Akira.
I can tell you for a fact when Dokken opened up for twisted sister at radio City music Hall there was a second guitarist right behind the fake Marshall stack
I swear I was thinking Akira right before you said it. What about Mattias Jabbs? Yeah he came out in 79 but freaking ruled throughout the 80s. Unique sound and style. His solos all great and fit the songs perfectly. The most underrated guitarist in my opinion
Without mentioning the usual hair metal suspects like Jake E Lee & George Lynch. Undeniably, Yngwie Malmsteen had everyone shook in 1984. & Don’t sleep on Leonard "Rocky" George from Suicidal Tendencies, or Dave Mustaine’s reemergence with Megadeth or Marty Friedman’s with Hawaii, & then Slayers Jeff Hanneman never gets enough love, even Dimebag was doing his thing back in 1984, to me every heavy metal guitarist pales in comparison to Randy Rhoads…🎸
John Sykes
In that group, it was George, Warren, Jake & Vivian.
Then you had Takasaki, Sykes, Ronni Le Tekro...
The creators were Edward, Randy, Blackmore & Gary Moore.
It would’ve been interesting to hear Lynch with Ozzy, but Jake getting the job was a fantastic move imo. Jake E Lee is my favorite guitarist Ozzy ever had!
Agreed
What a sad story but not surprising knowing the history of Sharon and Ozzy’s history. George found big league success with Dokken and later solo proving he was a talent to be reckoned with but personally I think Jake E Lee was a better choice.
In the 70’s I had long hair, couldn’t get hired anywhere until I showed up to an interview wearing a shirt hair wig and got hired in the spot! True story!
As for a number four on your big four guitarist list I think you have to go with a twofer, Glen Tipton and K.K. Downing’s twin guitar attack in Judas Priest.
Almost could say Reb Beach but he came a little later.
In actual early ‘80’s bands? Vivian Campbell, perhaps? Jeff Watson? Rik Emmett?
@@tristanrl1940 Totally Vivian! He's definitely in the top four
Carlos Cavazo, possibly? Very underrated guitar player and he can shred!
Vinnie Vincent. 😆
I didn't know about Joe Lynn Turner's wig till like this year. I ain't even trying to lie dawg!
Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Vivian Campbell
I think you nailed it with the big 3. Eddie kicked it off, Randy for sure but as you said was early and died before the recognition. These ones don't really fit because I don't think its the same impact but Adrian Vandenberg, John Sykes, Vinnie Moore, Akira Takasaki. For later 80's stuff Reb Beach, Nuno, Steve Vai
All great players.
I like Vito Bratta. He dropped off the face of the earth in the 90's.
I guesd he doesnt count because they didnt release anything until 85 I think?
@@saltpeter7429 good call on Vito, forgot about him
@@JoelGrindMusic I forgot him as well! After I left the comment here, I went on a Vitto deep dive, youtube style. He was very cool. I miss his playing.
I remember thinking Rainbows video Stone Cold with Joe Lynn Turner that his hair kind of had that wig look
Reb Beach from Winger
Ozzy most likely has no memory of this as he was still on the Crazy Train
Michael Schenker #4
#4 C.C. Deville
Wow.. thanks Doc, never heard of that..👀
Lynch is a good player….but Lee was my fav, followed by DiMartini. Gillis did a great job! Malmsteen had just came out…Steve Vai….
Jake was the best for Ozzy. Too bad he got ripped off! Bark At The Moon is incredible!
Adding to the other comments - Vivian Campbell
There was only the three mentioned here...no room for a fourth.
Ozzy and sharon were two of the worst people in the music business. Izzy had a great voice…but without a great band…he was nothing.
#4 Lil Wayne.
yngwie man, totally early 80's, and how can u leave out vito brata? also steve stevens is really good, but didn't seem it on those billy idol vids, lol! great vid
John Sykes….but Lynch #1 for me. #2 Warren D. #3 Jake E Lee
So Jake E.Lee was recommended to the Ozzy camp by Wendy Dio? Most of us know that Jake played with Ronnie briefly before settling on Vivian but I didn't know Wendy directly linked Jake with Ozzy.
John Sykes?
#4 = Vivian
I am glad that Jake E Lee got the gig because he is my favorite Ozzy guitar player. Bark At The Moon in my opinion is one of the greatest albums of all time. I do think that George Lynch would have done extremely well in Ozzy's band. Dokken's Breaking The Chains,Tooth And Nail, Under Lock And Key, and Back For The Attack has phenomenal guitar playing by George.
Big four in my opinion
1. Yngwie Malmsteen
2. Jake E Lee
3. George Lynch
4. Warren Demartini
5. Vivian Campbell
6. Brad Gillis
I’d say Vivian Campbell or Brad Gillis. The whammy bar master.
Definitely Vivian Campbell!
I have to go play “We Rock” now just to keep my cool
I saw Dokken 7 times live but, it was only because they were opening for the band I wanted to see. Yes, George Lynch was a good guitarist but, Dokken was just too Glamy for my taste. I never bought a single Dokken record. George might have been a good match with Ozzy but, we'll never know. Jake & Zack were both awesome with Ozzy, so it's not like we lost out.
Lynch sounds great with Jeff Blando. Vivian Campbell like someone else said.
You probably can add Brad Gillis to that list
Vivian Campbell
Buckethead
Ozzy isn't making any business decisions, that's Sharon. She tells him what to do. So Sharon chose Jake over George. I love George and Dokken
#4 Carlos Carvazo
Rudy Sarzo got punched by Ozzy when Kevin Dubrow said Ozzy sang like a frog 🐸.
Its a toss up between Vivian Campbell or Chris Holmes for me as #4
Big Four? What do you think about Malmsteen ?
Incredible and a game changer. should be in the big 4
Jake E. Lee the greatest
I heard a Don dokken interview I'm not sure how long ago but it's older and he said gorge is searching for something new and different but he is not that kick ass shredding guitar player that was in dokken not anymore
Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie J. Malmsteen!
Chris Holmes
I’m not sure, George Lynch lies a lot about his early days with Dokken
Steve Vai
To me, the most obvious wigs in rock have always been Ritchie Blackmore, Jeff Beck and Jack Russell from Great White. Even when I was a kid, I knew those guys were wearing hair hats. Joey Lynn Turner is in that group too. There are other guys who wear stage wigs..but the guys I mentioned were/are 'all day' hair-hat guys. Bob Kulick wore some crazy wigs back in the day when he was playing with Meat Loaf too. If you have never seen those pics, I highly suggest checking them out. His brother, Bruce, was in Meat Loaf's band too...and while he didn't have a hair-hat on on his head, he grew a pretty nasty cock-broom on his upper lip at one point. He looked quite odd with the mustache. Maybe that is why Po Stanley wanted him in Kiss. Po Ththanley of Kith. He likes the wigs too. He has a day wig...and a night, concert wig.
#4 Vito Bratta!!
# Steve Stevens or Carlos Cavaso or Zack Wylde.
Eddie van Halen!!!!!
Warren d martinni?? Be a good 5 th
George
Warren
Jake
Vivian
yup
George wasn't good enough to play in Ozzy
Wendy Dio handed Jake over to Ozzy because he was "too good looking" as far as Ronnie James was concerned. Ronnie didn’t like his wife hanging around a bunch of young handsome guys.
Yngwie Malmstein.
EVH? Yngwie? Vai? Chris Holmes?
Vivian Cambell
Ozzy Osbourne should kiss the ground he walks on every time he gets up. One massive Hoax of a human being. Ozzy Osbourne wrote zero numbers of those songs. The Osbourne Corporation tried this crap with may other guitarists and the likes of John Sykes. John flicked the Osbourne's offer even before they finished asking.
Yngwie
I'm goin' with Mars.
Randy Rhoads beat all those guys to the punch and had a much bigger impact.
Brad Gillis
lynch would have been the best guitarist ozzy ever had
Wow which picklewhistler reported my ozzy/sharron comment to you tube ?. Must be a closet van hagar fan hiding among the cool school.
Lynch is an awesome guitarist but he has spouted off some very bad "political" takes lately that made me loose some respect for him as a person. Sure wish some of these guys would realize they should just keep their mouths shut on certain subjects instead of trying to shill and score points with the crooked establishment.
But it’s okay for you to just state your opinion? How about keep your comments to yourself as well
@@tommilitello198 I didn't mention the particulars for a reason so go fuck yourself.
