Great video. Interesting idea that the thrusting hand and jab follow the same thesis, love your idea and how you work it into the idea of this technique being fundamental.
Very good insights on the jab I enjoyed the vid very much. Tracy is obviously a sweetheart you can see her nice attitude, but she knows how to punch, thats good.
have you been interested in throwing empty kicks? I in my own esoteric practice like the dubble jab to an empty kick on the bag. idk feels like a good basic set up and with the empty kick at the end so you stay supple and ballenced to abort the kick or change targets. just thinking out loud I have no real point or question. 🙂
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "empty kicks," but essentially I think any opposite side strike is a good follow up to the jab. If you throw something with the left, it's very easy to follow with the right, whether we're talking about upper body or lower body strikes.
@@FreestyleMartialArtist good point to clarify what I mean by empty kick. As I fall off the jab sequence or whatever set up, instead of being in the business of getting that hip turned over emediethly I instead let it hinge forward at the hip and let the knee keep I natural bend. It shoul feel loose because the object of it is that it can be high mid low or nil. I just had to get use to the stall time and turning my hip over when I want to fire it. It's hard for me to explain anything because I'm left leg domenent and right handed. I might as well have crossed eye domance aswell make the mix goofyer. 😆
An excellent punch tutorial. Many traditional ma’s don’t really break down punch mechanics as well as they should. Having learned to box prior to many yrs in ma’s, the times I’ve had to defend myself, the second I know it’s about to be “on”, a pre-emptive hard straight right to the chin or jaw had ended it before it started. A jab is a good lead in, but a “surprise mfckr” solid right needs no intro.
Where did you hear that thing about boxing being inspired by sword fighting? Because that sounds like BS to me. You wouldn't usually stab with the dagger at all, but use it mostly as a defensive tool. Sword fighting and boxing seem very different to me.
It’s not really a mortal sin, GGG does it all the time - You can do it to circle to your right (if your orthodox) while keeping yourself a narrow target. Fair warning though, very vulnerable to leg kicks and takedowns if they’re in range
You know what's funny?? 😏 Hands up. That's what's funny. The issue with prorecting your head is that there are many softer juicier vital organs below your shoulders. Fighting is about adapting to each situation. Talking is fine, planning even. But without actual sparring, talk is cheap.
I mean....sure? But most people are going to aim for the head when they're trying to hit you. And as long as you keep your elbows in and your posture isn't awful, your entire arm should be able to cover you pretty well.
@@FreestyleMartialArtist yeah, that's true. A strike to the head is the fastest way to get a KO on your opponant. I have this annoying habit of watching some "fighters" practice and think of counters as i watch. I strong in my belief that every move can be countered. I love observing. Want to spar again to really get back into my own aggression so i may ve less of a threat to myself. I apologize, i have experience that is kinda tainting my joy now in this present time. Hard being in a situation where i want to practice but am forbidden under current situation. I have nowhere to go just yet. Anyways, i do like your content, and pleaze accept that i just mean tonhelp us all think a bit about what it means to fight and to defend ourzelves. I actually been there many times.
Your weapon is out of time with your body on your power punch. You're turning your hips before your weapon and thus losing punching power. Plus your stance is wrong and you're not getting proper drive with your legs. You need to clean up your orange belt material before you have anything of real value to teach about fighting.
I'm a wing chun practitioner and watching your video is inspiring. Imo your video feels like giving how to apply wing chun.
Thank you!
that track analogy, i reconized that from judo
This is a great video. I've watched it 3x times now. Alot of details/nuances about the jab.
Well thank you!
This makes me glad I got into JKD for a while, with all that boxing jazz. Excellent break down, thank you.
Glad you like it!
You and I need to have a conversation about historical swordplay. :)
That sounds fun
her tech is great!
Yeah she’s picture perfect
Very true. Thanks for the advice.

I wish, I would live near your gym.

I'm really disappointed it's not the dragon uppercut.
Be sure to tune in next week

Thumb up is less telegraphed for most?
u just crossed ur legs ( 2:16-2:18) ( left leg was more right then right leg) isnt that a massive no-no in boxing?

Crossing your legs and circling are not the same thing. But by the same token…not really worried about the heavy bag hitting me.
