Yeah, I would have never let them get away with that in the first place. They would have gotten one free item and then the bills would have been coming. They would have learned real quick not to play with me.
I know it's a fictional story, but this happens in real life. For reasons that are beyond me, people think small business owners have buckets of cash. Most have no idea that they all have overhead expenses. And yes. I ran a small business for almost 40 years...
I thought for sure the husband would have defended his mom and sister but he actually had a spine and defended his wife. Good on him. His mom and sister were trying to take full advantage of the Friends & Family Discount and took tables away from paying customers (I actually got to witness something similar to the latter at a restaurant last year when a group of at least 15 people suddenly doubled in size and had managed to convince the restaurant to letting them join, causing those who actually had reservations that night to reschedule their reservations and eat somewhere else).
How about saying ‘No’. Husband doesn’t run her business and if she does it like that, she will run it to the ground. So the solution is simple, no pay, no service. Payment upfront. No freebies, no handouts.
14:44 instead of paying for her coffee and cake she expects to get money? And why does the protagonist even entertain the idea? Instead of asking how much money SIL expects as a gift the answer should have been “hell no”.
Gavin shouldn't have told his mom that Charlotte was going to pay his card for him if mom and sister stopped going to the cafe. He told mom unless she paid for their own food but told Charlotte they would never come in again.
12 minutes in the story and Charlotte has not mentioned to Gavin that his mother brings 6 friends with her for free too. He thinks its just his mother maybe.
Simple. It isn’t about people in a story. It’s about people coming across situations like that in their own lives being prepared to stand up for themselves. Especially to toxic family in their own life. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a therapist at their disposal at the right moment.
@@stevesteinberg2303 You asked. It's rude to then disrespect the person who bothered to give you an answer. If you know that that answer isn't correct, then you must already know the correct answer, so why waste our time and yours coming here to ask? There was actually no need to be a jerk, you know. It's just as easy to be nice. Next time maybe thank people for wasting their time on you, because with this lack of appreciation or courtesy, it *is* a waste of time to be nice to you. What kind of person doesn't kick an abuser out of her business
MAAT FOUR YEARS.❤
A person with no spine

Finally, a unique story! Keep it up!
Perfect way for him to understand what his family has been doing to his wife.
Dude... CALL THE COPS, HAVE HER TRESPASSED AND BANNED

I love this story, it was fun. It was kind of interesting and it was poetic Justice.
Love the solution of the family taking advantage
The word needed here is "No!"
And no is a complete sentence.
1:30 YES Yes even peed off
Double loss as they dont pay and keeping paying customers away 😮

13:12 Bad Kitty.
One word - Divorce
Ruth can't remember her own name is Ruth, her SIL is Charlotte.
The entitlement of some family members....
Bravo for paying for his selfish families food with his money. Maybe he'll wake up
I think Charlottes cost estimates seem low. Should have been more. But I guess it is a cafe and not a dinner restaurant.
Oh those two so would've been blacklisted
The Entitlement is just nauseating!
BANNED BOTH
Why do people comment as if these people are real or this story isn't just another fecal nugget?
What else is the comment section for?

They would be banned from the Cafe and a restraining order immediately

Doesn't anyone know how to say the word no and mean it anymore?
