    The good [?] thing for you two is that you will have all the long ones out of the way soon XD. They really are the ones people request most but the average Dir en grey song is much shorter.
    It was really nice to see and hear that you enjoyed this one more :) I absolutely love the ending. Dir en grey are the masters of edging XD Even in the middle of songs it often feels like they are building towards something that never comes. Just like life.
    The guitars are super cool in this song but I have to admit it's one of the songs I listen to least. I rarely ever listen or watch it 'out of context' [I hear it mostly when listening to DUM SPIRO SPERO or watching a DVD/Blu-ray it's on].
    There are a few live versions that I personally prefer over this one [mostly due to Kyo's highs or the atmosphere] but the lows are really nice here so I'm glad you went with this!
    Thank you so much again for going on this journey with us! It really means a LOT :D

      Dude this is hilarious, I could have written the exact same comment. I joked on the discord that its hard to believe but they do have songs under 8 minutes lol. I also love how uncomfortable or ambiguous they leave the endings some time. And just like you, I inexplicably don't listen to this song that often, even though its one of the best they've ever done imo. Really enjoyed this reaction.

    I'm looking at your page and think "what a week I have missed!". I'm doing my catch-up Sunday right now. This is going to be fun :)
    DUM SPIRO SPERO is such a uniquely amazing and densely atmospheric album and Diabolos is perfectly placed in it. It pops out even more in the context of the album or a live show but it's a really good song on its own as well and your experience with it shows that. The guitars really stick out in this song and they fit so beautifully to the lyrics.
    If you want to hear another song with a longer duel guitar moment you should listen to Vanitas. It's a pretty slow song but it has some of the most amazing instrumentation. I think you will find a lot to enjoy there. But you already got enough Dir en grey! I just had to think about this song because you liked that section in Diabolos so much.
    If you are looking for other bands to add to the channel, I think I already recommended Kizu and Versailles here but they are also VK bands so I wanted to give four more non-Japanese suggestions.
    1. Eden Adversary - Lords ov Gehenna ft. Makhlvk (Symphonic Deathcore from Indonesia, they are just starting out and only have a few singles released so far but all with really good production and high quality. I hope for an EP or LP soon)
    th-cam.com/video/LvVZ0yQAzgE/w-d-xo.html
    2. Purbawara - Naraka (Melodic Death Metal from Malaysia. Another fairly new band that is well worth checking out. This song also includes Makhlvk as an additional vocalist)
    th-cam.com/video/FPuw2SSpylM/w-d-xo.html
    3. Bloody Tyrant - Kenshi Subete Heyru (Taiwanese Melodic Black/Death/Folk/ metal and Blackgaze band. One of my favourite bands. They had a few line up changes recently, including a female singer, and became more outspokenly political. It's not their best song in my opinion but I think it is best to introduce them in the current line up. If you see that differently, "Ode to the falling rain" and "Final Battle of Sun-Moon Lake" are two of my favourite songs that also have videos on TH-cam )
    th-cam.com/video/MwpKZtPBIEQ/w-d-xo.html
    4. Finntroll - Solsagan (because...Finnish trolls that sing in Swedish are a criminally underrepresented minority group in metal? You cannot go wrong when picking just any song form these guys but this was my first introduction to them and I feel emotionally attached to it 😂 I also think it's a fun song to react to in company. You might want to bring out the beers for this one )

    "He can't do that!"
    Why not? It is Kyo! It is Dir en grey, no one dares to tell Kyo what he should do or can't do. Kyo loves to brake the rules, and loves to try new ways to shock people.

    Maybe "The World of Mercy" just needs a bit more time 😉 It's a complicated song to get into but ultimately very rewarding. "Diabolos" seems more up your alley. I really think you will like most or all of DUM SPIRO SPERO. I don't want to add any recommendations but I do hope "Juuyoku" is somewhere on your radar already 😆Kyo goes mental in that one.
    Why, oh why does every single Dir en grey song need to be so good? There's literally no song I wouldn't want you to react to (although some reactions might be funny as hell for us and deeply confusing for you 😂)
    I always liked the _Blue Velvet_ reference in this song. It's just a vibe.
    That ending was great! Seems like you have almost as much fun filming these as we do watching, even when it's Dir en grey for the second time in a row! How did _that_ came to be? I am not complaining btw.
    Oh and because you noticed the video was 3 years old: the live you watched is from 2014. Just in case you were wondering about his tattoo-situation.

      Some people just don't care for certain things. I've been a fan of Dir En Grey for more than 15 years. I love all of their work for the artistic merit alone. But although I understand songs like World of mercy and I can see the intense emotion Kyo puts into it, ultimately it's not a song I personally enjoy listening to.

    • @moshpitreactions
      @moshpitreactions  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Basically we throw everything in a random name wheel generator and spin for the order just so happens that most of our suggestions are DEG so we have more DEG songs together than other titles

    • @moshpitreactions
      @moshpitreactions  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can understand that! Dir En Grey is one of the bands that are not fully near where I normally listen with music I enjoy all of their stuff but some songs aren’t just up my alley with my normal comfort zone but I love all the Dir En Grey songs we’ve done

    • @therose6901
      @therose6901 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NeroBaelside13 But you cannot say that there won't be a time in the future where you will get into the song, right? Tastes change with time and so does perception. When it comes to a song like "The World of Mercy" I think there might be a time in your life where you will listen to the song differently and maybe then it suddenly clicks.
      My tastes have changed over the years for sure because I keep listening to things that aren't up my alley and that is ultimately the appeal of reaction channels...to find things you wouldn't have touched on your own either because you didn't know it existed or your own believes in your taste would have prevented you from looking into it.
      From the reactions I have watched so far (and I think I've watched about half of the videos on the channel by now) it's obvious that Braden prefers his music heavy and looks for the lows/growls in particular but I assume that this is also the case because he is a musician himself and that's the direction he wants to go musically. "The World of Mercy" is much more atmospheric and for the first few listens I can seem like the instruments don't play such a big role which can certainly put people off who aren't into that kind of music already and therefore don't pick up on the slightly more ingenious guitar and bass moments in that song. But few people who manage to master one thing are content with sticking to that for the rest of their lives and so the focus in interest will change as well (slower than taste probably, but still...). There are a lot of turns a life can take where you and Braden and Jeremy and I can find ourselves listening and enjoying a song we don't really like at the moment. Really happens to me every other day.

      @@moshpitreactions I'm a huge old avenged sevenfold fan and the shift to something less guitar driven is really jarring sometimes, but when you dive into how they use it to build atmosphere more than melodies it's fascinatingly different approach to songwriting, imo.

    The big heavy riff is quite doomy, Black Sabbath more than Metallica I thinks.
    You've got lots of Diru and it's probably best to start mixing things up. There's plenty of time to delve into their stuff, just a lot of reaction channels fail if they get too oversaturated with one band.
    So...
    A couple of bands influenced by Dir en grey, but with their own unique style.
    Both vocalists are untrained, but have stupid extended range.
    Both were discovered by Issei, the drummer in both bands.
    Interesting little thing, Ryuya was the guitarist in Deviloof during the purge ep (once you do Ruin you'll cover that line up) so Ryuya leaves and forms Dimlim with Issei. Issei leaves Dimlim and forms Nazare.
    All these Visual Kei bands are so closely related at times. Bands form, disband, new bands form... Anyway, that had zero relevance to anything.
    Nazare
    th-cam.com/video/s0b5YmyE4zc/w-d-xo.html
    This is the return song for the band Nazare who went on hiatus due to the mental health problems of the vocalist Mio. Thankfully he's returned to the music. His voice is absurd, crazy gutteral, screams and a gorgeous rich clean.
    Dimlim - Grotesque
    After Dimlim disbanded after essentially Insulting and alienating their entire fan base it seems in a fit of petty they've pulled all their videos. But you can find the audio for Grotesque. It's a great song. Or you can look for a fan upload of the Vanitas music video. It's got some nice moments.
    The vocalist Sho has an extended range too, though more schizophrenic in style, choking inhales and highs, also had quite rich and emotive cleans.
