    So glad someone is using the plastic can toppers to chill their beers! So many times I see videos with the beers floating away and I'm yelling at the screen to use the can topper it came with! Love your work and really enjoying watching your presence in front of the camera get more confident and comfortable.

      Haha I know right! It's a simple but effective solution.
      Thank you so much for the feedback, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos and stoked to hear that I'm getting a bit better in front of the camera! 😀👌🙌

    Thanks heaps man. For years I’ve watched others like Joe and Syntax getting up to this sort of thing overseas. Living in Brisbane I’ve been curious about kayak camping the Everglades but really hadn’t found any decent videos on it until yours. So thank you again, keep it up.

      I stupidly forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!

    Great vid mate. I'm a year late but I do similar trips in NSW on Myall Lakes just nth of Newcastle. I had a hobie 10ft ? also but upgraded to a 5m kayak. You're right the hobie fishing kayak 'lump of plastic' was hard going, kayak is much more fun, as would a canoe be. Cheers.

    Mate, that was one of the best videos I’ve seen on the outdoors! I’m in SEQ Qld too and also a big Alton Good’s fan. You look like the guy in some of their videos… we just did a few days hiking in Sundown NP and our next trip is planned for the Everglades. Thanks for the dolmades tip, I can see that paying dividends for years. Our secret weapon is smoked oysters in a can with crackers - don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

      Wow thanks mate! They sure di make some great gear. Nice one, sundown is on my list, looks like an awesome place. You'll love the Everglades, perfect time of the year for it right now too!

    TH-cam started showing me your vids, it's finally figured out I don't live in North America ha. Great video, I'm super keen to try a kayak trip of the everglades (I've done the Cooloola GW and the other campsites look much nicer than Dutgee on the GW). Beautiful video!

    • @JonesysJourneys
      @JonesysJourneys  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, glad you liked the video. Highly recommend a paddle on the Everglades. In the middle of summer the hikers on the Cooloola GW always look super jealous watching people paddle by with ease as they slog along the dry dusty tracks. 😂

    Great vid mate! I paddled to camp 13 the weekend before lockdown as well! Such a great part of the world! Also just did my first hammock setup last paddle about a month ago. Was also quite cold - looking forward to using the hammock in the warmer months

      @JonesysJourneys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Tim, it's such a beautiful river isn't it! Haha yeah it get pretty cold in the winter unless you've got an underquilt, I think I need to invest in one. But nothing better than a breezy hammock camp in the Aussie summer!

    Mate this was awesome, really enjoyed watching it. Where did you park your car? I’m looking at doing this trip soon. One thing to note was the audio levels - normalise this in Premiere. Great content though man keep up the good work 👍🏼✨

      @JonesysJourneys  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Martin. I appreciate it and definitely will be working on the audio levels on future videos!
      There's quite a few places to put in along this river, but on this occasion, I started at Harry's Hut. Plenty of parking there!

      BTW, did you know...
      The first part (or long part) of the whip bird's call is the male calling.
      The 2nd part (the chirp chirp) is the female replying.
      You will notice that you don't always hear both.

    Hey mate great video. How long do you reckon it took to paddle back from 15 to Harry’s hut?

    • @seqadventures5843
      @seqadventures5843 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends what your paddling. It's 18klm from 15 to Harrys Hut. It's a big day to do it on a fishing kayak. Canoe or expedition kayak is the way to go, otherwise a stop over at one of the other camps.

    • @JonesysJourneys
      @JonesysJourneys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, it's a slog with a fishing kayak. It was quite some time ago but from memory, 6-7 hours. On a calm day it's no problems, but with a head wind its no fun at all!

      Thankyou 😀
      I actually sewed it myself out of some material from my old awning from my car, a zipper and some elastic loops to fasten the little containers inside the pouch. Works a treat! 👌

      It's actually from eBay. Was only like $400-$500 from memory? I think it's a copy of the Dragon Kayak. Like I said in the video though... pretty keen to get a canoe!

      Jonesy’s Journeys definitely get a canoe if you get a chance. As I was watching your video with my apprentice I mentioned how much a canoe would suit your laidback style of video.
      I’ve had a Rosco canoe for years and I will never part with it. Nice and light weight and paddles beautifully.

    Does every campsite from Harry’s onwards have fresh water? Lake Cootharaba is salty and i want to know if I’ll be able to filter water on my trip.

    • @JonesysJourneys
      @JonesysJourneys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      From memory, sites 1-4 have fresh water tanks. Theres also a section of the Great Walk that joins to the river somewhere after camp 5 that has a tank, but it's about 500m from the bank of the river so its not easy to spot. You'll have to rely on your map to find that one. Having said that, once you get to the top of the River, it's all fresh anyway. I boiled and filtered my water just incase as I wasn't too sure of any runoff in the surrounding areas.
