I hunt deer in Scotland, mostly in woodlands. I have watched lots of videos on deer hunting in Oz and would love to go there to do this one day. However on many of the Oz videos I see that they do not have shooting sticks or even bipods. I have seen too many missed, or badly placed, shots made, mostly from hunters shooting off-hand. In Scotland, to miss a shot is fairly rare since , I believe, almost all shots are taken with the rifle being supported, even from a ruck-sack. I can highly recommend the use of quad-sticks, especially for woodland walk-about shooting.
It's just around the corner again. 😃
Coming around fast and for once I have a property that I can access so I can be excited! Every other year I have just hunted a block hard and enough to produce a few animals! Very great-full to the land owner that’s for sure and also found a great mate in meeting him!
Awesome video mate. If you dont mind, may i know what camera set up are you using for filming please ? your video quality and editing are superb.
Thanks mate, I use my iPhone allot. The more sharper ones are a Sony a6500 and a GoPro occasionally. And yes it makes my bag heavy, bow hunting is hard by itself and self filming makes it 20x harder hahaha I usually hate it till I get back and then get to see the footage. Appreciate the comment. There’s a really cool one I made in NZ Yyou should check it out and got a few great ones coming out over the next few months
Hey I was just wondering if this video was from last year because I thought rut was in February
Yeah mate. It’s from the last rut, same with the next few. Filmed a bit later than Feb but yeah my channel sits a bit behind my life as these things take time to edit. Wanted to make these videos properly not just slap them together. My best video yet is coming In 2 episodes. A solo bowhunting back at this place- I hope you enjoy
That’s exciting I’ll definitely tune in
Cool video but where’s the big buck?
Thanks mate, yeah I thought it was a rad video when I was done editing too. The big buck is Right there mate. Was a nice big free range buck and a first deer for my mate. Any deer for me is a trophy and big, but hey we just starting out. 🤷🏼♂️ Seems like everyone’s a living legend on the internet these days hahaha it’s in the picture for the thumbnail too so sorry if that’s not up to scratch.
@ I was being genuine when I asked as I thought you may have been taking the piss! That’s cool if it’s your mates first deer, happy days for him as he can only go up from here. Definitely not a legend on the internet haha
Nah no taking the piss. I’m out there as an everyday hunter, I don’t get crazy access to places and spent 4 years chasing two half the size of this around. For me it’s a big buck- all good if it’s not for you- I’m just here sharing my experiences with my friends. Not all deer grow crazy head gear at every property and not all of us can pay to hunt or have access to the places that have crazy large bucks. I don’t mean to offend ya man, each to their own- I actually mostly try shoot does but even a doe for me everytime is a trophy. I find bowhunting hard and testing and get maybe 4 trips a year due to limited access so I’m stoked on it! Don’t mean to sound rude, or cocky- complete opposite actually. We just love going out and yeah the big bucks upfront in the thumbnail we still stoked on it 🙂
@ no offence taken at all mate and any day in the bush is a great day, for myself I guess I am lucky to be able to hunt where I do, for myself that is nothing more than something I would cull and feed to the dogs, very fortunate to have taken very nice animals over the years and never come home empty handed on meat hunts I enjoy any type of hunting and being able to feed my family with quality meat. Cheers and keep up the good work 👍🏼
@kingy300wby that is one thing o have learnt access is key hahaha I spent 4 years chasing one Mob of 3-5 deer around and wouldn’t see them on some trips. But it’s funny now, when I see a deer in the first day I almost feel like I don’t deserve it. You’re super lucky to have a property where you know you can get a feed. This was the first trip to this place and as I’m starting to return I’m considering getting a gun just to harvest one for food on the last morning if I wasn’t successful. So crazy to finally hunt a place where you can get multiple stalls a day I’m very grateful. Maybe one day I’ll land a nice head….time will tell
