I was so worried when your foot hit the water because here in the States you can’t even dip a portion of your clothing in the water. It’s hard enough as it is. I like the UK rules better. Great video explaining behind the scenes on ninja warrior. Loved watching both you and Toby race it was brilliant would have loved to see you both do the whole course, but got to be honest I would have liked it if you and Toby had raced different people and be in the final together. Storror are amazing went down a 4 hour rabbit hole watching there videos love parkour. Would loved to see a collaboration with the gang and Storror would be epic. Good luke in the final looking forward to it. Silly question but in Google do you just type "ninja parks" to find them? Great video luke

I am listening to ‘The Mindful Athlete by George Mumford’ on audible at the moment and the bit that I am up to has about flow state. It is really interesting.

There’s literature on flow within the field of occupational therapy. It’s used within mindfulness. Flow is basically being at one with the activity, forgetting about the outside world, which is why it’s really good for mindfulness and mental health. So in mental health settings, people can part in activities that they really enjoy ect jigsaws, art ect in which they get so engrossed in the activity that they forget about the outside world/their problems. Really good for anxiety. Just have to find an activity a person really enjoys, in your case athletics.
Congratulations on these two amazing runs with Ninja Warrior! I am so excited to learn how you did in your final! In regards to being in flow, I can recommend Dr Martin Seligman's research and writing. Dr Seligman focuses on the psychology behind authentic happiness and it is fascinating. The basic explanation of being in a state of flow is doing something you enjoy, and are familiar with but are challenged just the right amount to sustain focus entirely. You described it so well - hardly remembering the actual race but having a sense of just knowing what to do in a mind-body state of ease even though you were doing something that was actually new to you. People can experience flow when colouring in, dancing, swimming.... anything that a person enjoys can be tapped into to experience flow. Flow is great for the nervous system which is why it is a tool used in supporting people with anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges.
@@catastropheli I hadn't considered that when I wrote my comment, but, yes, I think a flow state is possible for an exam. It depends on the person, their focus and if they can find that "sweet spot" of preparedness vs challenge that engages the brain in a deep way. Though there might be no studies, i am sure that a lot of highly trained people in no matter which sport are abled to do that. Flow just seems to be a fancy word for a highly concentrated state and often it is used in an esoteric way, which i personally don`t like.
