Hello everyone! At the time of this upload, I will be at Anime Expo. I had to arrange this for about 3 days to record because of the travel, and therefore I don't think this would be my best performance (think of it more of as a memorized improvisation).
I really love this anime and it has a lot of nostalgic vibe to it. I'll be posting more classic anime songs this month until the full version of songs from summer anime is posted such as Re:Zero's new songs and Shokugeki no Soma's new opening and ending themes :3

I'm honestly surprised at how unpopular Bokurano is, it definitely deserves more of a fanbase, especially with what it has to offer, from entertainment to morals.
i agree when your the anime that inspired Madoka magica you should have more recognition
Bokurano is against the entire life's conception and value's system of the modern man, that make the anime's vision really unconfortable for many people.
Well, because bokurano has that "stupid" scene. Where chizu and that sensei LoL ! ... My eyes QQ. Im corrupted. *dead
Also Bokurano (at least the manga) talks about how people dont like to look at their own shortcomings. Bokurano is a mix of human shortcomings, about pain. If people could they would surrender the ability to feel pain, Bokurano is a display of agony/pain/cruelty, acknowledging those make us better people, accepting and seeing how people / us feel pain, makes us better in a sense vs trying to behave as pain/cruelty in this world doesnt exist.
Bokurano was in a rather unfortunate position, I believe. It was an anime with a lot of potential and a great concept, but its run was too short, and the cast was simply too large. On top of that, it’s easy to see how some things would cause the audience to become uncomfortable. The purpose of the anime was to introduce the children to us, put them in a terrible situation, and then give us the background story that would have made us feel for them before they ultimately died. Unfortunately, the time that they had to accomplish this in was fairly limited, and many of the background stories failed to hit home, creating a cast that wasn’t overly memorable. While some stories worked, many others were sort of left in the dust, and in some cases, their stories were even somewhat overshadowed by other characters, leaving them to fall flat, straight into obscurity. In the end, we didn’t have the time to form an emotional connection with most of them. Personally, I think I only became emotionally invested in one character at the very least. Even now, I struggle to recall most of their names and backstories.
You’ll find that this was the main complaint. A great concept that was ultimately rushed to the point where it lost everything that gave it potential. The characters, which were intended to be the main focus, simply didn’t get enough focus because of time constraints, and in the end, the cast became unmemorable. Had it only been a handful of well-fleshed out characters, that would have been something different, the cast was simply too large, and there wasn’t enough time for most of them. They weren’t as fleshed out as they could have been, and the series suffered as a result.
Edit: There were also many complaints about how the anime and manga differed, thus ruining the manga’s point. Many who had come to appreciate the points put forth by the manga came to find that the director of the anime pretty much refused to display them within the anime, and he took it on a bit of a tangent simply because he didn’t like the original manga. He made a lot of tweaks to it because he didn’t personally like the manga, yet decided to direct the anime, anyway. He then completely altered the ending, and that didn’t sit well with a lot of people.

I saw this anime in summer 2020 and after almost four years I still wonder how is it so invisible for so many people in the anime community. I can understand that it's not an anime for anyone and I personally think I never 100% understood the whole idea of the story, but still I believe there's more than one lesson one could learn from this manga/anime that is Bokurano. It was one of the last anime I watched before completely leaving my habit of seeing anime (nowadays I only read manga, anime industry is not so interesting for me currently)

One of hte best song evers IMO. Chiaki-sama is straight up a Goddess. I listen to this whenever I uninstall shit. The original version is fantastic, but she also released an Acoustic version later, and Nagi Yanagi did an amazing cover as well. I wish I was leveled up enough to play this
IM SO SURPRISED THAT ANYONE ELSE ACTUALLY WATCHED THIS ANIME!!!! T^T Im so proud right now. It was actually good in my opinion.

ist niche because is hard to digest: too many bad facts that last too many episodes.

This tune so nostalgic and beautiful. It still excites me to this day like the first time it did . Its haunting, melancholic yet so beautiful. Nice arrangement Ishter.

back when this aired i was like oh cool then the plot kicked in and my life has been darkness ever since
For the longest time I had wanted to have a piano of my own to play.My first one was a little red toy one(I was probably around 7),though at the time my interest wasn't that high,but it stopped working soon after.Years later my interest had grown (I was around 16 now) due to being in a music class that,I first,I was desperately trying to get out of due to performance Fridays lol.Anyway,it wasn't till I heard your covers some time later for Orange and Nanairo symphony that I truly wanted to learn to play;I was so amazed at how beautiful the music sounded and how much passion I could feel thought the screen (at the time I hadn't even watched the anime).You made me go as far as finally buying myself a keyboard to practice on.I am now turning 19 next month on August 21 and can play a bit,but,I always tell myself,"one day I'll be able to play like theishter".Sorry for the lengthy comment but ,if you ever read this,the point of this was just to say Thank You for inspiring me to play the piano.I truly hope to play with your level of skill and passion one day. P.S. you owe me 90 bucks for making me buy a keyboard.Where do I send the bill?Xp

If you listen closely you can hear that he is playing 3 melodies at the same time.
The bass notes, the high arpeggios and the main melody, that's what they meant

well, as far as i know, he has some piano sound problems, so he also records it on synthesia, then uses the synthesia sound instead of the actual sound, because it sounds better.

I remember when I watched Bokurano, I almost want in completely blind aside from hearing its name in some forum.
I saw the cover art and thought it was gonna be a comfy story about some kids using a super robot to save the world...boy was I wrong.
Apparently the manga's even more soul-crushing than the show, which I'm not really surprised to hear now that I'm more familiar with the author.
