As an ardent beard wearer, I get a little vicarious living from these videos. My message to all my bearded cohort is despite our mostly covered faces, there’s still a joy of shaving the neck and cutting out the lines of your beard with quality products.
I have just shaved off my beard this morning! And already I'm glad I did, the compliments are coming thick and fast and I'm giving a fresh new impression today. But, it has to happen when it's right- please don't think I'm badgering you :)
Shaving with a double edge safety razor is the way to go. I started 6 years ago and never looked back. I usually use a Feather AS-D2 razor loaded with a Feather blade.
That is a gorgeous razor. And I am so jealous of your beautiful soft hair! Watching that razor skate across the skin is a different world. I have very coarse and dark bristles, my pre shave ritual takes about ten minutes- shower, scrub, moisturize, hot flannel, shaving oil... And then we get to the wonderful Body Shop shaving cream which I find unparalleled. A pleasure as ever, and something about the combination of watching a man shave outside and hearing him talk about the bugs in the Middle East transported me back a few decades!
Watching this video makes me nostalgic for my childhood, when I used to watch my father shave with this sort of safety razor, accompanied by a brush and a bowl of shaving soap. I am currently using a range of products by a company called Harry's, and they make a good shaving gel, body wash, after shave balm, and scrub/exfoliant. What many will not approve of is the multi-blade cartridge razor with the lubricating strip. Although it's true that these blades can get clogged after repeated use, or if I'm shaving off several day's worth of stubble, I have never once cut myself with this sort of razor. My father used to occasionally walk around with little bits of toilet paper stuck to his face to staunch the bleeding after a morning shave, and I've always been a bit reluctant therefore to use a classic safety razor.
A quality DE razor, blade, brush, cream or soap and good technique and you’d never want to go back to a multi blade cartridge. I’ve been shaving this way for 13 years and I never cut myself. Cuts tend to be the result of a blade that’s been used one too many times or from poor technique. It is imperative that you do not press down on the skin with a double edge razor, the weight of the razor is enough to do the job for you,
@@aronscott9698 Thank you for the advice and for the information. -I believe it is time that I made the transition to a better, closer shave with a safety razor.
I have a fairly sensitive skin but found out that combination of mild razor (i am using king c gillete) and sharpest blades (feather, persona, super iridium) gives flawless results, i am even shaving every day baby butt smooth
I do enjoy your shaving videos. Right now I am finishing up a tub of J. Peterman's 1903 shaving soap, an American product. Nice scent. They also make an nice aftershave. And I agree that shaving more lightly, letting the razor do its job, is way to keep the skin in shave and also reduce knicks and cuts. Ash, keep up the good work!
My advise to the chap with bumps is to NOT shave against the grain. Never use those multi blade cartridges as they slightly pull the hair before cutting which then when released may go underneath the skin causing ingrowing hairs. Use a DE safety razor that cuts flush to the skin.
Great video, Ash. Thanks for sharing. The horses are a lovely touch ;-) I'd be very interested to see how your Reggie's Jupiter razor 'ages' over time with the patina.
Thanks for the video. I used for 43 years cartridge razors, and always be fine. After my retirement I saw 2,5 year ago a few TH-cam movies about Safety Razor shaving. And I shave since then with a SR. Strange thing happened, I cannot go back to cartridges.Whatever soap I use. I get irritation at once! That Reggie Razor looks beautiful by the way!
My cheap faf free shave as follows Semogue boar hair brush £15, Arko shave stick 6 for £8 , Duru Turkish lemon aftershave (80% alcohol) £12 for 400ml , Bulldog bamboo razor £6 (half price sale) Lidl 5 blade cartridge (sorry Ash) £3.79 pack of 4 . Soap stick lasts 10 months aftershave 3 years Iv'e been shaving for 45 years and this is by far my best shave combo , just my opinion of course regards from Kent
Ash , please , don't use micro plastics and throw that synthetic brush away , my friend. You have brilliant made in England badger shaving brushes and while I understand that synthetic brushes dry faster they contaminate like we don't even know and don't have anything "eco friendly" Great razor , btw , wondering if they're gonna sell in the US and also the rest of Europe.I should let people from my Spanish Shaving forum know about it. Have a great week !
I think i will also pick up a beautiful brass razor... But I wanted to commend your focus on the ecological imperative and add my voice to an ethical priority. No offense kind Ash, we just want to keep you on the straight and narrow!
I would not recommend a badger brush; the badger hair (regardless of where it is assembled or sold) all comes from horrific farms in China. Very cruel to the animal.
I too enjoy a daily wet shave. Recently, I purchased a new safety razor from Muck & Brass (I'd never heard of them either) It weighs as much as Mjollnir! Great shave but, as always, my face looks like I used a blunt Axe As for the lotions and potions, still not really my thing. 🫡

Brass razor. Made in the UK. By a precision engineering company. Sold!
Good on you, Reggie!

Excellent as always. A gentlemen’s shaving regimen is a hallmark of his character.

Ash, can you give a top-5 of your favorite shaving creams/soaps? Thanks!
Every time you do a shaving video I miss my morning shave. But I really do like my beard. That certainly is a fine looking razor. Cheers Ron

Excellent video Ash and thank you for answering my question, I will implement your advice from my shave in the morning!
Happy to help!
Thanks for the review Ash. The new haircut look good!
Grass powered lawn mowers, genius. It looks like a nice razor but I'm not sure about the discolouration when it gets a bit older.

the best after shave for me is using only thayer witch hazel. regular after shave and baulm, end up doing damage.
Do bears shave in the woods?
😆😆good one
Excuse me sir, may I ask what watch it is that you're wearing in this video? Thank you.
Nirvada Grenchen Depthmaster
No Alum block ?
You should try the Rex Konsul razor. Out of this world quality..
Yessir! Made right here in my home state of Arizona! I have the Rex Ambassador myself and it is my favorite razor in my den.
Was this provided for review by Reggie's? It wasn't clear, unless I missed something.
I approached Reggie and asked for a review sample.
@@TheChapsGuide thanks for the fast reply. I feel you should perhaps say that, just for transparency. Hope you don't mind me saying.
@@notesfromafarit was clearly stated in the video sir.
It was, I hadn’t got that far. I’d expected it at the beginning. Please accept my sincere apologies and keep up the excellent work.

Try a slightly slower speed when moving the blade across your skin, and rinsing the razor more frequently.
Ash, have you used Nivea Post Shave Seaweed or Chamomile Balm?
Not yet.
I'm a little out of the norm here. I use an electric shaver on the mustache area and a double edge razor everywhere else on the face.

Microplastics are nonsense.
@@Art-is-craft what do you mean? They definitely exist... They exist inside you even!
Ash, where do you get your t-shirts?
Costco.
