Overall, very nice 'Review' as I'm looking into this versus the Zoom G3xn? But, I'm leaning more to this Unit, now. Thanks. It would be 'very Interesting' to see 'how' you've learned to use it, since 2016 'NOW', and some 'deeper Insight' into' the Potential of this Unit.
So this unit is still going well..... but I have moved on. Playing with a Boss RC300 for looping and individual pedals for my sound (I have simplified my sound now). This unit is my back up. I would definitely recommend this unit for beginners and practicing though :)
Hello the manual says that the USB is for "USB Port for Updating Software and tone editing." With what software can I edit the tones? my computer does not recognize the pedal board.
I think this unit is a great value N includes lots of great features such as the looper + rythm box both usable at same time I have just one question is it possible to save any loops in there (i guess no) A very good demo with no crappy noodling N not too much useless talking
What is the point of having a looper that can't save? That's just obtuse. When I make a loop I'm making it to use behind a solo or something if I'm busking or any other type of later performing. Looping is pretty useless to me if it's just for a bedroom practice device. Can save all those effects, amp sim's, cab sim's etc but NOT loops. Why? That's just discrimination against loops. I'm loopy and I deserve to be saved !! I'm going to call the Office of Discrimination against Loops, that's what I'm going to do.
@Epi Phone sounds like it’s sending you Loopy my friend, it does seem loopy that you can’t save loops especially with the features it has, especially the SD card, seems rather pointless. For your breakfast you should eat some Honey Nut Loops that are sold in the UK, oh and listen to an old song called ‘Snooker Loopy’ 😂
Sorry it says 60 secs in video silly me...nothing in it really between this and zoom. What's the connectivity like with this...good product support on homepage?
Contact NUX customer service directly they’ll send you a screen at a small cost, you never know if you ask nicely you possibly could get f.o.c but unlikely. email: cs@nuxactive.com
Hi, nice vid, thanks. But does it work as interface via USB when connected with the PC or Mac? The manual doesn't say a thing and there's no info on the website. With that many features it should have that function included - my main expectation.
having trouble with the EfX everytime i modify the level and save it. when i use nxt patch. then i play it back. it seems the volume of the efx it's not been save at all
Hmmm.... when you change the Efx and save it you are saving that patch not the EFX for all patches. So if you want to have Efx modify the level for all patches.... you have to go in and save all patches individually
I have the same problem, can you please add some steps? what im doing is to press edit/save button then im modifying the efx after that i press again the edit/save button and set the name, thats all, for some reason when i change the efx and then go back seems like the effect was not edited.... :s
Same problem here.. Efx should be turned on while saving the patch. otherwise changing it to the next patch will change the setting of the previous saved Efx setting to the default.. It should be nice if once you go to the next patch and you wish your efx or modulation on that patch as off and can easily turn it on on your saved Efx setting via CTRL without the Efx or modulation automatically going back to its default setting.
loop - can't save. Loop does't have a tempo/click track, so the drum track is the tempo track. If you change drum track tempo the loop recording with be out of sync. Hope that makes sense :)
Thanks, it does. I am considering buying a looper (with save function) and this processor costs about the same as some loopers! Essentially, getting the effects for free with the looper so am tempted to consider it.
One of the other nice features is the sd card. You can have all your backing tracks on an SD card. You can control this with the foot pedals (start/stop/next track. Another option. I reaaly like the unit for it's effects. I personally rarely use the looper :)
Is it possible to achieve an octave effect with this device? Seems there is no dedicated pitch effect in there. Is it possible via the expression pedal?
Why? Does your foot only work from left to right or something? Like once you've pressed one button you have to move on. You SAVE the "STOMPBOX" effectively in its own little home called a patch bay and one of the buttons is for accessing it ie: moving from the preset bays or the ones you have programmed in yourself. It's much more flexible, user-friendly, compact and efficient. Two pedals instead of three. No bending down to adjust the stomp box while performing (you did all that earlier when you made the patch (stompbox).
Is the noise gate positioned first in the effects chain? At least the buttons on the MG-20 are positioned that way. If the noise gate is positioned before the amp section it normally should be impossible to eliminate noise that comes from the amp or overdrive section. This could be a problem, at least for high gain settings.
@@Soccernz007 I just got this unit this morning and it does have the "Harmonist" section under MOD. But as your Smiley Face suggests, the "Harmonist" gives you controls that should give you harmonies but all it does is gives you an octave below whatever note you play! This thing is definitely a toy that might be useful for the drums and looper but it completely destroys the tone of my guitar even with no effects on!! Going back to my Boss ME-80 for sure! Thanks for your review, well done and much appreciated.
@@no3rdseat Yep... octaves aren't really harmony.... I agree.... This unit was fun for a few months but I've gone back to individual pedals "Keith Ricjards style" !!!
around a decade ago i had a zoom guitar multi efx pedal. it only had 2 pedals, all the common effects, delay, chrous, flanger, dis/od, ect. it had a kind of amp modeling, but it was just diff. compressor, noise gate type effects that were preset ,not adj. for each amp. 1/4" in and out. no other aux or phone jacks, no drum machine, no looper, it had great tone and a cheap plastic housing with large plastic pedals hiding low quality switches.... but get this.....the plastic outlasted the electonics inside... after it would get warm (2 min.) the thing would make its own unique effects, half time just a glass shattering high pitched squeal, the other 48% time it would just be the normal efx but they had bad tone, but i'd squeal soon ...so. lol.....was digging thru junk gear & seen it, i had decided to see if it still worked after 3 yrs. i got everything set up, a dean vendetta -thru zoom - into fender fm100. for some reason i put my cell on vid rec. & pointed at the amp ... ok. it powered up, the dean & zoom had woke fender up. i decided to change to next bank & whohh! 🤩🤩 the ghost in that zoom box had produced a wah type talkbox sound with a scooped mid that put me to jumping around beating out a kool little drop D riff. i still got the vid on my page !!! i havent seen the zoom since then... the zoom was junk gear back then. i have a boss me-50 that i really love. the dis/od sucks but thats an easy fix... only prob the me-50 has is when the ole' boy sold it to me. the edit/exit button is pushed thru the metal body. i opened it up & my skills are not good enuff to fix.. the whole bank/patch memory logic chip is a SMD on a sub-pcb and the buttons are SMD on it also.. i seen that & closed it & use it as is. i recently got a NUX loop core deluxe. its a good pedal, metal, feels heafty, jacks & buttons seem quality, i like the drums, they can sync to loops. 99 save slots, i got the dbl. foot controler with it. only neg. is the user manual... it takes a little effort to decypher the sentence structure... but the info is there ! its like the words are backwards. Hmmm I think the manual is ok. The machine itself is pretty intuative (if you have used FX pedals before). I haven't refer to it much. This review was done with a 5min look at the manual!
Andrew Graham Thanks ! Two more questions :D: can this device be used in recording through the computer and does it have a button to change from clean to distortion while playing?
Unit has normal 6mm guitar outputs so you would have to get a PC interface, This unit is not a DAW. Yes you can switch between clean and distortion using the control button. I demonstrate this in the video (13m23s)
Could have been his amp, settings or poor audio recording, you would think being 32bit they would sound better, I imagine spending a bit of time editing parameters you could get some nice sounding patches and FX as factory presets are always over the top or need tweaking to whatever each individual’s setup is like, we all have very different amps, guitars and pedals with totally different characteristics, so people should never expect something to sound great straight away or cos it sounded good on someone else setup it’ll sound great straight away on your own, you have edit your gear to your own needs but I find unfortunately most guitarists are lazy producers of sound and want to just plug in & play and for everything to sound great immediately, unfortunately it’s not like that, why does it take so long to record a professional studio album? It’s called production & engineering and takes time to get it to sound shit hot.
Superb review. Thank you so much. You make me want it buy it... I think am deciding for this.

Is it possible to achieve an octave effect with this device? Seems there is no dedicated pitch effect in there. Is it possible via the expression pedal?
Hmm great question.... not that I have seen... but I have a separate octave pedal so haven't tried?
Yes you can via the modulation effect, harmonist sub-option and harmonise to -8.
Can I set the pedals to work like 3 stomp boxes? And it work's like audio interface pluggin the usb? Thanks
