Thanks man! I EQd the crap out of the layers so they each have a slightly different frequency range they primarily sit in, but alot of it is also how the piece was written. For old gameboy music, the chips they used were limited to 3 lines at a time (usually melody, countermelody, and bass) and were written to work well off each other even though they were just simple waves with identical timbre (specifically square waves I think, but not sure off the top of my head). It's super interesting stuff and I don't think it's a coincidence that alot of my favorite vgm tunes come from the gameboy era. There were some absolute masterpieces of composition to make up for the technological limitations!
The Bald Guitarist uses the Michael Angelo Batio overhand harmonics technique....and shreds. Great piece man. You keep raising the bar each time.
