    Hands down the best prof I have ever had, truly a blessing that I was in his class for electrical trade school. Peter is the definition of a teacher, one who goes above and beyond to make sure that the people learning actually understand what is going on. I actually miss being in is class bc of the amount of stuff I had been taught, which btw I thought was impossible for me to learn. Its been two years or so and I still come back for a refresher.

    I used to teach this stuff years ago. Sad to say and I suppose for most of us, is if you don't use it, you lose it. I knew these things in minute detail, but now it is like a foriegn language to me. I wish I could remember everything I spent so much time learning.

    you have to have an ability to teach. I used to teach electronics at T.A.F.E.college. Most of the instructors who had been there for years didn't have that ability, drove the students mad. My first day of teaching, my students gave me a wonderful compliment "thanks Baz, you are the best teacher we've ever had, this was day 1! I was sacked shortly after, because my students actually learned to love what they were taught.
    You, Steve, are definitely in that category, I am 60 and retired, but I love your video's because you make it so interesting,
    Baz :-)

    Phase» is a confusing word. May mean:
    1) A voltage
    2) a conductor
    3) a phase angle between two sinus waves.
    One never knows, take your pick.

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The line current would be 17.32A on all lines. It's a balanced load. I just wrote the current on line 1 to keep the diagram clean, but L2 is 17.32 and L3 is 17.32

    Hello hope all is well, is it proper to say that the coils are connected together but you don’t get a short circuit(touching phase to phase) because they are out of phase by 120 degrees, meaning each phase is going thru the coils at separate times. Thanks in advance.

    Clear concise. With a Power factor of 1 ( all resistance load)
    the VA (volts amps) number would be the SAME as the Watts number?
    FOR the transformer? Trying to learn, thank you.

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Purely resistive loads have all their power expended in the form of heat, so Watts = VA in this case.

    i have a question. when do you multiply by 'Sin or cos ' when solving for VA ??

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cos is used for the Resistive Values (i.e. Wattage), Sin is used for the Inductive or Capacitive values (i.e VAR's)... you also use Cos every time you are finding the VA when you know the Wattage and the Power Factor (VA=Wattage/PF) because PF=Cos of the Angle

    so the watt was 31176 Watts ???

    • @PeteVree
      @PeteVree  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This video doesn't mention what the Power Factor PF is, so we can't find the Wattage at this point. The videos later in the playlist will look at converting the VA to a W value.
