Every year, between May and July, billions of migrating sardines come to spawn off the coast of South Africa. What was the most interesting thing you learned about sardines?
What i've learned = I think sardines are the stupidest fish on the ocean, because they prefer to get eaten by sharks instead of running away from the death gate.. If only they can separate one another,, ah, sardines Logic.
Thank you so much National Geographic about this knowledge! I get new learning that sardines is food some ocean animals. Sea animals haunted sardines fish 🐟 as their food. Killing sardines fish like seagull or tern, shark, and also whale! Oh, my Godness... I think just human like me eating sardines, but not only me 😁😅.
@@ligerraptor7805 Smh always has to be one of you! Didn't think I had to be technical, I meant flying birds duh! But yes all birds go in water, of course I knew that.
@@TONEakaSHOWanhingas and comorants are birds that can fly and they are master divers and swimmers. We have a pond behind our house and they are there all of the time and after they get out of the water they will sit on a ledge or a buoy to dry their wings. They look like black gargoyles with their wings spread out. And when they fly they literally look like bullets. When they dive they will swim and pop up in another part of the pond. Quite amazing to see actually
I’d love to be there diving with them! I love sharks and all kinds of marine life , I’m in school for marine biology and I hope to one day have my Own documentary series or tv show about marine life ! It’s a dream of mine
Oh my god! I lost it when the whale showed up! How was this shot?! Scuba diving cameraman? It must feel insane to be in the middle of a feeding frenzy with animals of all sizes!
I was in La jolla like two weeks ago and saw a flock of birds just diving into the water and popping out. they went along the shoreline. It was amazing to see. Never dawned on me that there might be sharks feeding underneath as well.
Some of the sardines were able to "escape" this ordeal. The ones that "got away" survived, able to "breathe" a sigh of relief. Whew! Only to end up packed and crammed in small pull-back tin can coffins so WE can now feast on them! I guess it ain't easy being little fish. I suppose krill and plankton ain't feeling sorry for the deens.
@@victordagameresteban682 Nope. Believe it or not, it's pronounced like _brutus_ but is spelled _Bryde's._ This is because the scientist who named these whales was Norwegian. 👍
sardines have so many enemies and nightmares in ocean even if thousands of them swim together as herds, whales, sharks, seals, dolphins, sword fishes, barracuda fishes, tuna fishes, needle fishes, seagulls, albatrosses, pelicans, herons, as long as sardines encounter with their these opponents under water they always will be a good, delicious feast for these predators.

🐟sardines keep themselves locked; forming a cylindrical loop pattern in the deep ocean🌊
Forget the sardines, I need to know if the camera person was kept protected by his/her balls of steel?!! Those moments at 2:14 and 2:40 are crazy!!
😕

How did that camera guy fit on that scuba suit with such huge balls.... 🤣
Imagine being the wildlife filmmakers who came across this.
Sardines: We're trapped, let's run
Bird Gannets: Where'd you wanna go?
Sharks: Not so fast, baby
Whale: I'm about to end these whole men career
This is better than any action movies nowadays.
Sharks, The original crowd sourcing!
This is too real to be true.. This is an amazing and thrilling footage!!
And then the survivors get trapped in a fishing net by humans. It’s tough being a sardine.
2:06 whale be like
Party without me.
Imagine being a sardine in your next life 😳
I'd rather be a shark.

Seems like those sardines just don’t learn if they do this every year
Kudos to the under water camera crew
Is this from bbc as David A narratoring?
It’s true. cameraman never dies.
The whale reminded me of the mosasaurus feeding in Jurassic world
The whale came in like a friendly AC-130 in the air
The music sounds like something from a horror movie
WOW!! THAT WHALE !!! 😯😯
'fishes' LOL
Um dos maiores espetáculo da natureza..A lei da sobrevivência. .👍👍👍
So much for strength in numbers.
Many of the individuals shown in this video are in fact blacktip and spinner sharks, with perhaps a few dusky sharks in the mix.
These are the unluckiest sardines ever
That is insane!
Wait til the humans come in with their huge nets lol
I guess getting packed like sardines is a sure bet for behemothic disaster
is this real footage or a simulation? genuine question
Such a powerful fight.
Anyone wanna to go there in battleground ?🤣
Whale: helo
the whale probably got some birds too
If I had been a sardine, I would be too scared to live in the sea.

Everybody gangsta until the whale came
That's really amazing!
What kind of birds are those?
Gannets
Except for the narrator , this vid is amazing
Why don’t the sharks go for the birds?
Same question i asked myself!
😅😅
there’s probably enough food to go around that they have no need to attack the birds
So so amazing wao
The whale comes in and you realize how big the ocean is
Shark : Hold my teeth
Birds : Hold my Dive
Whale : Hold my devour
How does the photographer not getting eaten by the whale?
Very nice
I feel so bad for the little fishies😢
