hey0723 salsa means sauce and is just a name for all kinds of latin styles, including the son montuno. the more uptempo salsa music most people refer to is actually the guaracha.
Love the videos, man. One little detail (sorry to be picky) but the HH pattern you play with the band is different from the 2-3 clave you teach in the vid But they both sound very cool...
Still have no idea how to differentiate between son montuno and other rhythms like guajira, bomba, plena, cha cha cha, mambo, etc. Tons of shitty videos on youtube.
Bomba, plena and chachacha should be the easiest to separate out there. For chachacha start listening to some old danzones: they have an ostinato section that eventually became chachacha
Excellent! Bobby, yes, Sir!
What he plays on the hi-hat when playing with the band is actually the guïro pattern, which is normally used in chachachá
Just added timbale and lp cowbells to my Tama kit, this is a brilliant help thank you.😊
GOOD stuff, i love it ! Latin Percussion in the best.
Well done .. Explanation is clear and seeing how the pattern is executed really helps !

Salsa Is 4/4 . montuno Is the cuban music , the original salsa , More conversación betweeen the instrumensts AND More deep Very more deep .
A drummer, pianist and two trumpet players came to Arsenio and asked if they can join the band. He answered: i don't see any problem 😅
