Because of a Teacher (A Tribute to All of Those Making a Difference)

  • Hey teachers, thanks for all that you do. This is a short, inspirational video to say "thanks." Note that I didn't separate out "general education" from ELL and special education because I believe that special education teachers also teach math, science, reading, writing, life skills, etc.
    TRANSCRIPT:
Right now, there’s a kindergarten teacher perusing the aisles of Target. Even though he still has two more weeks of summer break, he is already dreaming up ways to make his students feel welcome. His classroom will be a refuge. For a few kids, it will be the only place where they truly feel safe.
    Because of a teacher.
There’s a language arts teacher who will take a week and give up her lunch period - those blessed 26 minutes to scarf down a meal - in order to help a student learn how to read. And although the progress is slow, he will become a reader.
    Because of a teacher.
There's a math teacher who will have a room full of kids who claim that they’re “just not good at math.” By the end of the year, his kids will be geeking out over ways to solve complex problems. They’ll see that math can be creative and even fun. And they will become problem-solvers.
    Because of a teacher.
There’s a science teacher who will inspire her students to chase after their questions and on one afternoon they’ll be so excited about their experiments that they won’t even notice the bell ring. And they will become scientists . . .
    Because of a teacher.
There are history teachers who will inspire students to record history and a group of PE teachers who will encourage kids to get more active. There are technology teachers who will help kids send their work to the world and fine arts teachers who will help kids find their creative voice. There are foreign language teachers who will be helping kids communicate globally and CTE teachers who will help prepare kids for all kinds of jobs
And there’s this teacher librarian who will see the students as children and not data. He’s creating a makerspace while also inspiring kids to fall in love with reading. And they will become life-long learners . . .
    Because of a teacher.
And right now, there's a 4th-grade teacher with a scribbled up yellow legal pad. She’s dreaming up wild new projects. And even though she jokes about not wanting to go back, she is secretly excited about meeting her new group students.
This is her 27th year and she’s still taking creative risks. To her, it’s no big deal. It’s what she does. But it’s a big deal to her students. To them, she is a hero. This year, she will make her students' world epic, like she always does.
They will remember her forever and she will change the world in ways that she cannot even fathom.
And all of this will happen . . .
    Because of a teacher.

Thank you so much John for making this video! As a retired teacher and now an educational advocate for students I know there are many fabulous teachers and staff members that need to be recognized for the spark of curiosity they nurture every day in students.

I had 2 teachers this year and they were everything. They were amazing. They were so sweet and funny and would joke in class, let us eat, but they wouldn't only teach but they would talk to us. TEACH US and would inspire us and honestly they were more of a mom to me than anyone else. I will miss you guys and I hope your next group of kids sees how truly special and amazing you are because we sure as hell did. This year wouldn't be what it was without you 💜

A lot of this video describes my science teacher Miss Dale from high school, she left in 2016 and I really wanted to say thank you to her for everything considering all of the things I'm doing and interested in now is all down to her taking me outside of the classroom and helping me talk everything through. It leads to me wanting to follow in her footsteps and become a teacher myself :)

Thankyou so much for this video, sir! Teachers can act as a support system that is lacking elsewhere in students’ lives. They can be a role model and an inspiration to go further and to dream bigger. They hold students accountable for their successes and failures and good teachers won’t let their talented students get away with not living up to their full potential.

Indeed a teacher is a true hero, they will sacrifice everything even their very own time just to teach their students. They are great listener, motivator, encourager, and a student's second parents, their goal is to prepare the student's future and with this they make a difference and build a better world.

When I was in fourth grade my P.E teacher always told us “Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.”
I had a fourth grade teacher that made us excited to learn. No matter if you were rude, she’d teach you your wrongs and you’d completely change.
I had a third grade teacher who loved us so much she got a Elf On The Shelf and made it seem as if he left notes around the class everyday. At the end of the school year she gave us each a gift in memory of her.
I have a social studies teacher that despite our class room being burned, she has stayed strong for us and before Christmas we managed to recover our classroom.
I have a math teacher who encourages us to learn math. She makes it fun and educational.
I have a English teacher who encourages us to read and proceed our dreams. She inspires us with motivational quotes.
I have a art teacher who struggles with my class but she stays strong. The other kids don’t listen but I feel her pain.
I have a science teacher that even though her classes are boring, she changes it up a bit sometimes and puts on educational videos and movies.
All the teachers I mentioned I loved and I still love to this day because they’ve been some of the best teachers.

Teachers help us to stay motivated on the task at hand. Motivation can come in many forms. I see on this video, that a teacher is fit the motivation needed to the individual student by communicating with that learner’s and learning the interests of that learners. With that, it is a greatest help provided by a teacher to student is the motivation and encouragement they did. The video flaunts that the teacher has a big part in every learners future that encourage them do their best to become a successful one someday.

I’m a new subscriber and I literally cried watching this video man. I’m 21 and taught English in Somalia for a brief time and absolutely loved it. There was no doubt in my mind this was my path in life. After telling everyone I know about my new found passion I didn’t get the reaction I expected. Teachers don’t make much money and most people my age thought it was “girly”. The opinion of other people could never ever change my mind but on some level it made me ashamed to share my dreams with people.. until I found your videos that is! Thank you for reminding me Mr. Spencer!

There was one of my teacher that influence me. His name was Mr Nizamuddin and we usually call him as Mr Nizam.
By the way, Mr Nizam start his duty at secondary school in Kluang. He was teaching us religion lesson and was very strict. Whenever he came into the class, everyone would keep quiet and behave well. When we didn't complete our assignment, Mr Nizam would fine us until we finished them in that day😭.
Despite of the strict way he teaching, his speech was very enthusiastic and rising our moral. Mr Nizam was influencing me to be behaviour and nice to everyone. If in class he would be like a lion but in society he would be friendly more than anyone else. Thanks to him that I can be more valuable and profitable for my circle nowadays 😊😊.

My initial reason for doing this was that special education teachers also teach math, science, etc. I didn't want to make them an *other* teachers and accidentally demean them. When I team-taught with SPED teachers, they were always quick to say, "But I'm also a math teacher" or "I'm also a social studies teacher." However, I see what you're saying. This is why I also have another version of this video that includes SPED teachers: th-cam.com/video/e3V_MX3PM90/w-d-xo.html

Good teachers want to see their students succeed and are honored to be a mentor. Too many people think that teaching is an easy profession-because teachers make it look easy! Simply tell a teacher that you recognize how hard their job is. That’s likely enough to make them smile. Still the teacher is the way to make our dreams achieve, the teacher is my HERO.
