This man has been in the business of building amps almost as long as I'm alive, and he _still_ has the passion to talk shop and nerdy electronics details. I hope I end up like that.
I dont mean to be off topic but does someone know a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
Lol, one minute in and all I can see is poor Glenn visibly suffering holding that mic haha. Really cool that you got to meet Soldano, his amps are amazing!
Such an awesome dude. You gotta love that this guy went from wanting better gear to actually able to have a moment of holy crap I can make a living doing something I love.
Love Mike Soldano! I finally got to meet him at NAMM, such a cool guy. I got to thank him for a quote of his I read in the 90s that I still recall today when talking to players. He was featured in a Soldano ad poster the store I worked in had on display and the quote was, "plug a $2,000 guitar into a $200 amp and plug a $200 guitar into a $2,000 amp and tell me which sounds better!" And for 1996, that was poignant as fuck. It still holds true today, but the technology of today didn't exist then, so you really were getting a $200 sounding amp when you spent $200.
Some people call him a living legend, i always call him a hero. What a sound the SLO have man, the hot rod too! Now, what is legendary is the price as always TaT
Glenn, I do not know if you have seen or heard the issue of Tone-Talk but listen to the early issue with Mike Soldano. Fast forward and listen to 2:17:10 in the Tone-Talk video. This is talking about the 5150 being a copy. It seems that the Mesa Recto pre-amp was an exact copy of the SLO. They talk about the Peavey being a modded-circuit with a lot more gain. Thanks for the video!
I still remember the day I bought my first Solano amp and played it. Wow it was everything I ever wanted in an amp and much more. The most fun I ever had with an amp ever.
Modern Amp builders : vst simulators and amplifiers based on ours harm us as companies that invest years in research Mike Soldano: My amp its the best and its the staring point to many other amps as 5150, rectifiers and others
Obviously TH-cam voice recognition doesn't know the name Soldano.. "Sultana", "salt da no"... I asked few episodes back for explaining a bit on the Soldano amps, and Glenn invites Mike Soldano himself to talk about the gear - priceless!
I love that place!! If you get a chance to tour their factory there, you just become a kid in a candy store with all of the amazing products they're making!!
This was terrible to watch. Glen literally looked at his WATCH while the guy was talking, further more, looked miserable and kept looking at the camera with this grimace look, Like why not say here hold the mic. So simple, instead of us ALL watching u suffer, literally ruining this entire interview. I love you Glenn, im a subber from your channel. But this is flat out unacceptable to look at ur watch while interviewing. Im not unsubbing or freaking out. just saying. This was terrible.....for you....AND for him. You looked miserable the entire time
Agreed. This was horrible to watch. Looking at the watch and looking everywhere else he looked like he was completely not interested. And heres Mike trying to show the clean channel and he's like alright let's get to what everyone wants to hear. Guarantee Mike won't come back after he sees this interview. Id be pissed if it was me.
I have a Hot Rod plus for many years / I tested (Mesa,Engl,Marshall,VHT,Rivera etc.) But Soldano is my Amp \m/> MIke is the legend !! Only we need see in wev : Artist used or recording with Soldano amps (wooooo -Clapton , Van Halen ,Gary Moore , Motley , Allman Bros. etc etc !
It was always my understanding that the slo was that much better than the avenger and hot rod because it had the special power transformers... what’s the deal with the SLO30? Does it have the same transformers as the SLO100? What about the power tubes? What are they?
Interesting that the fx loop is post master volume. I would have thought that would generally be a bad idea, given whenever you turn your MV up you are potentially clipping anything you have in the loop and would have to constantly adjust fx units down the line to compensate. I wonder why he decided to do that.
Hi Glen, pleeeease do a blind test of the Soldano SLO vs the Synergy SLO, If you can do the Synergy pass through diferent power amps including the SLO power amp. Keep up the good work, cheers from Portugal.
Everyone talking about the watch check. I've seen 3 interviews with Mike all posted the same time and all filmed in that room. He was probably on a time limit and wanted to make sure things were going on schedule. Nothings worse than when you're out of time and you haven't asked your 3 best questions yet.
The SLO100 circuit bears more than a passing similarity to the Marshall 2203/2204. I don’t think Mike can really complain too much about others adapting his circuit further. It’s evolution.
Wonder how many times has Glenn been upset because someone had an older model and forgot their pedal. Inclusion of on-amp controls was a great upgrade.
Its crazy to think that he made the best amp right from the beginning and still is a benchmark amp after 30+ years. PD: WHY IS HE USING THAT CABLE BACKWARDS AAAAAAA
Man, glad he's flattered, because pretty much every second high-gain amp is a copy of his design. It's really not fair that he didn't get financially compensated, especially by companies like Mesa Boogie, who patent the most miniscule things about their amps and sabotage amp-techs by "leaking" erroneous schematics.
Glenn, I know this is irrelevant but I really need your help. As a teenager, is there anything I can prepare myself for before I move into the real world and the music industry? Tech tips, Do’s and Don’t’s, etc.? Anything will help. Fuck you very much, have a nice day.
I can only imagine that Glenn didn't realise that Mr Soldano could rattle off so much minutiae without coming up for air 😂 Where are the mic holding dwarves when you need one?
This man has been in the business of building amps almost as long as I'm alive, and he _still_ has the passion to talk shop and nerdy electronics details. I hope I end up like that.
My arms are getting tired while watching this
*Glenn:* “It’s so awesome to have you here!”
*Glenn’s Arms:* OUCH!
I dont mean to be off topic but does someone know a tool to get back into an instagram account??
I was dumb lost my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Mathias Uriel instablaster =)

Such an awesome dude. You gotta love that this guy went from wanting better gear to actually able to have a moment of holy crap I can make a living doing something I love.
These amps explode with tone.
Really cool to hear how Mike Soldano started his legendary Co; Crazy that his designs were used for the 5150.. thanks Mike, Glenn/SMG

Glenn looked like he was on speed and could only concentrate on his next fix instead of the interview.
I remember when Mathias Jabs switched to Soldano for the Crazy World album. Saw them live for that one. What sound 🔥
Mike is a great guy. Glad that he seems to be doing well.
I suggest a lapel-mic or having an intern hold your interview mics 😂 I feel physical pain watching that arm. Also, EXCELLENT video.
Or a boom, or...anything else, really.
Also couldn't hurt to have some better level matching between the intro/outro and the content.
If only they had a sound engineer around
@@jacksolomon451
Highly underrated fact.
Glenn looks bored out of his mind. Checking his watch. Soldano definitely likes to talk.
And unfortunately Mr. Soldano didn't give him any good metal riff demo as he wanted
Shit-holding maybe?
He had lots of features to list, but I guess the geeky details aren’t appreciated by everyone.
The watch check was soooo disrespectful, but absolutely understandable lmao
@@jlchd lols, definitely
Love Soldano and Jet City, some truly wonderful amps!
Jet City was phenomenal!
That purple Soldano looks sick!
There's tis nifty little new invention you might like.
It's called the michrophone stand.
It may be for sale at your local retailer
Yep, it's over there on that shelf, next to the mic cups.

Mr. Soldano seems like a super nice dude. What a legend!
I still remember the day I bought my first Solano amp and played it. Wow it was everything I ever wanted in an amp and much more. The most fun I ever had with an amp ever.
An Italian- American with a lot of passion, Mike is!
This man is pure CLASS. THanks Glenn!
I'm a fairly simple man..I see Soldano, I smash like.
You the Bean!
I love thats Mike's finally getting more recognition
Modern Amp builders

Mike Soldano:

Love hearing business success stories. People forget that it's a "music business" and industry
Obviously TH-cam voice recognition doesn't know the name Soldano.. "Sultana", "salt da no"... I asked few episodes back for explaining a bit on the Soldano amps, and Glenn invites Mike Soldano himself to talk about the gear - priceless!
2nd from left: Holy crap that rig looks good.
Reminds me of the matrix code dropping down
I love that place!! If you get a chance to tour their factory there, you just become a kid in a candy store with all of the amazing products they're making!!
Glennpa's arms are showing their age

Yeah, he could’ve handed the mic to Mike if he wasn’t holding a guitar
Coke anyone?!?! 😆
My mind: I need one!!
My wallet: Dream on....
Build one ;)
I like the hot rod 25 it's the only high gain master volume amp I like because was not as fizzy as the bigger SLO and seemed to be more versatile.
Pioneer, inventor. Creator. 👊😎
For a guy teaching mic technique, this is a the worst mic technique I have seen in 2020!
He didn't cup the Mic at least.
Ola: heres a soldano amp review.
Glenn: hold my amp.
Ola: here's a soldano amp review.
Glenn: here's a soldano man review.
I have a Hot Rod plus for many years / I tested (Mesa,Engl,Marshall,VHT,Rivera etc.) But Soldano is my Amp \m/>

I commented 2 days ago on another video that we haven't seen any Soldanos on the channel... Nice surprise for me to see this video now :D
There was an SLO behind Glenn a week ago or so. I suspect that there will be a review coming soon. :)
Mike... The One, The Only, The Legend! I would give my left testicle to have a Soldano Amp!
Guess it’s arm day today
6/30/20
R.I.P. Glens arms

Glen is about ready to throw that mic 🤣🤣🤣 hey Glen would you be willing to review some randall solid state stuff?
Hi Glen, pleeeease do a blind test of the Soldano SLO vs the Synergy SLO, If you can do the Synergy pass through diferent power amps including the SLO power amp. Keep up the good work, cheers from Portugal.
Maybe some day
Good question with the 5150!
My favorite amp sound. I would own one if it had another channel.
The new slo30 sounds killer.
Need a 30 watt Deccatone !!!! Martin Barre, the ambassador of tasteful Soldano tone spins gold out of this amp
Soldano, the original boogie copy!
Holy shit, the guy who invented soldering
All his amps are solderless, actually. Hence the name Solda-No *Ba-dumm tiss* SCNR 😀
Any chance you can test the aston microphones? like the stealth and spirit?
I had a mark 2B , it killed for its time . Fizzy City on high gain though , Thanks for fixing it for us 😉 Glen, chill brotha
I'm early cause of soldano
Awesome interview Glen !!
Glenn: My arm is tired take the fucking mic.
Also Glenn: Get to the point and let this bad boy rip.
Everyone talking about the watch check. I've seen 3 interviews with Mike all posted the same time and all filmed in that room. He was probably on a time limit and wanted to make sure things were going on schedule. Nothings worse than when you're out of time and you haven't asked your 3 best questions yet.
Ahh January 2020. That was a different time
Watching Glenn check his watch why this legend talks hurt a bit
Had 6 other TH-camrs waiting for me to finish. Did NOT want to run into their allotted time.
Thanks for the content man its great, time to get 2 x mics I think...
That's cool but what about the mouse saga?
Ooooooh that Sweeeeeet thick razor of high gain heaven... or wherever the flying spaghetti monster sends you!
Astroverb head into a Lucky 13 412 cab was Life changing! Sooo good
Excellence !!
This is the first time I see Mike playing guitar
Very interesting, tks man!!
5150 cold turkey bias
The SLO100 circuit bears more than a passing similarity to the Marshall 2203/2204. I don’t think Mike can really complain too much about others adapting his circuit further. It’s evolution.
*talks about clean channel*
"That's sweet, can we hear the higher gain stuff?" 8:15
The thumbnail is literally Mic soldano
Ok, Glenn needs a boom operator now..Your channel is getting big, u can afford a bass player to hold the mic!
Why do I feel like Glens next purchase is lapel mics..
Yes, a lav mic would be beneficial.
If I was allowed to post a gif or meme it would be Wayne's world's "we're not worthy!!!! We're not worthy 😂"
Wish you would have asked about the actual connection between Soldano and Jet City...
So, his name is Mike soldering/welding?
Wonder how many times has Glenn been upset because someone had an older model and forgot their pedal. Inclusion of on-amp controls was a great upgrade.
I’m going to start calling you Bob Barker with that mic 😂😂
That intro is recorded by 5150 ?
If only they weren't priced a leg and an arm... I mean the new 30 watts go for like 3k usd... Imported here in eu will surely be around 3.5/4k eu...
Its crazy to think that he made the best amp right from the beginning and still is a benchmark amp after 30+ years. PD: WHY IS HE USING THAT CABLE BACKWARDS AAAAAAA
Look at Glenn over there suffering for having to sit quiet and hear another person speak for five minutes straight!
Glenn is thinking, grab the microphone! 😅
Uhm...Mike Soldano based his amps off of the Mesa Boogie Mark II. And that was after he based his first designs off of the Fender Bassman.
HI GLENN and SOLDANO
Glen, were you afraid of that little guy?
Glenn, I know this is irrelevant but I really need your help. As a teenager, is there anything I can prepare myself for before I move into the real world and the music industry? Tech tips, Do’s and Don’t’s, etc.? Anything will help. Fuck you very much, have a nice day.
Glenn needs to get into the conversation!!
very interesting next time Glenn does an interview it may be best to give the other guy the mic rather than uncomfortably holding it there for 10 mins
Hey, is the discord for patrons only? The link doesn't work...
Because my mod changed it & thought I had nothing better to do than fix bad links today,
SpectreSoundStudios ahaha, its alright. Could you reply when its fixed?
good interview, note to self ,clip on wireless mic . lol
fist time i see the name soldano ,,, no shop have it in my country and even thoman have just one in inventory ,,
Can I buy you a mic stand? Yeash!
Says the guy who leveraged a Boogie. ;)
If it had a lower price point and an option to bypass the power tubes, I'd be all over it.
Somebody teach that man to Chug! Cool vid still.
maybe he should incorporate a built in tuner as well....
I can only imagine that Glenn didn't realise that Mr Soldano could rattle off so much minutiae without coming up for air 😂 Where are the mic holding dwarves when you need one?
Glenn get a mic stand next time you interview him!
Also, find a way to practice interviewing.
Why is this just 11 minutes? Oh...Glenn, it's your arm, eh ;-)
