absolute gold my man, great great info. My thoughts- Women do better with reps/sub-max based on genetic muscle fibers. More muscle endurance type 1. Its the reason why world record marathon male/female are much much more competitive then world record squat male/female or long jump male/female etc...keep up the teaching.
Silent Mike thanks bro! Hahahaha always good feels when silent mike comes to say nice things! Yeah I've heard that theory before and although I haven't seen all the cadaver studies or literature on muscle fiber type in males/females the mention about long distance runners is actually super on point! Never thought about that but I use to do long distance running and the women were beasts lol! I remember Greg nuckols talking about some cadaver literature that showed slight differences in males/females but didn't think it was the big of a deal. I agree, that seems to make a lot of sense!
Hey Brendan, I think you're amazing and extremely helpful! I can literally find the answer to almost any fitness questions I have through your page so thank you for that! I was wondering if you have any suggestions for someone in my position. I am 29, 67.5kg in weight and around 23% body fat. I was training hard weights and cardio previously but fell off for about 4/5 months. My goal now is to become slim thick ( big lower body and lean upper body) I have had so much contradicting advice such as lean right down before trying to eat to build muscle/just start bulking right away/carb cycle... I'm so close to losing motivation again lol. So here's my question - what would a training / eating plan look like for someone who can't afford to bulk but wants to add on more size but lose fat at the same time? no one seems to address this x
Hey Sophie, from what I read, you are getting close to optimal bf percentage for women since 20% is the optimal. If you want to lean up, you would have to do a serious cutting program and vice versa. If you were in higher bf percentage, it would still be possible to add mass and lean up, but now you are already lean. I think it would be better to lean down to 20% and then build from there. www.strongerbyscience.com/which-weight-class-is-best-for-you/
SnakeC666 hahahahaha I DO! lol I think that every damn video because I know the people on mobile are squinting! I promise I'll invest soon! Glad you liked the info! Thanks for watching
Great video! Some reasons to consider why women tolerates more volume. Fiber type is different. Estrogen protects against muscle damage. Women are useally weaker and not as exsplosive as men, so they cant damage there muscles as easily. They useally have less muscle mass so there is not as much tissue to repair.
Jake Reinagel the volume is pretty low on wendlers, outside of late beginners and very early intermediates id say it's pretty sub optimal. Even at a 2x a week frequency the volume is still a little low for my liking although that's not to say it's bad. It's actually one of my favorite cookies cutter routines out there. I like the plus set for earlier trainees and I like the auto regulated joker sets he added to beyond 531 as an option. The intensity is decent too, never gets too high or too low although it fluctuates a little slow. Overall I'd rate it like a 7/10 for a routine for late beginners and early intermediates, anyone else it's very sub optimal.
Watched it all the way til the end! Lol. You deserve a lot more popularity! I've been following you for a while. You go very in depth for everything and I always learn so much from your videos. Keep on with the great content.

The video with Bootstrap Barbell is unavailable.
great video! i learned a lot. what do you think of wendlers 531? it can be very intense with moderate volume
