I would be interested to see a rundown of brutal kaizo blocks in Dram in Lunar Magic! It's legend for being wild, but, as a viewer, it's very difficult to grasp the scope.

If you do do this sort of thing you should get Panga on like a co stream to talk about them.
I'm not a streamer, but I do play a lot of kaizo hacks, and Dram was (unwisely) one of my first! Once I'd finished my playthrough I tried to open it up in Lunar Magic myself, but as it turns out Panga likes to disable file viewing and editing for his smw hacks, so unfortunately this sort of rundown probably wouldn't be feasible without getting a special copy of the rom from Panga himself.

I love how, when every time Barb explains a difficult trick or a problem, Captain Picard shows up in the top left corner and tells him to "make it so".... 😅🤭👍👍
Honestly, beating Frame Perfect Land is still crazy impressive even now.
I love watching these old ROM hacks. There is something about the brutal simplicity of it that is very appealing. And by simplicity I don't for a second mean 'easy', just less gimmicky than todays hacks. Not that I don't love them too of course but there is something special about just seeing standard SMW things being twisted into a nightmare! Great vid as always Barb, hope we will see some more old school hack playthroughs :)
When barb hits an unexpected kaizo block sometimes he just drops is jaw in awe for a few seconds. I wonder deeply, whats going through his mind? Is he trying to remember if he has seen it prior on a previous playthrough and forgot about it, or is he just in awe of the level of vulgarity, with which the block was placed.

I love the part where panga put in a million kaizo blocks. This is just as entertaining as watching him live. This was a good hack.

I think the reason viewers are getting dismissive of how hard some kaizo stuff is is because the classic kaizo hacks has a very different kind of difficulty compared with the more modern ones. As they were mostly vanilla, their difficulty is hidden too viewers, especially if they are not knowledgeable of SMW physics. Regrabbing is invisible to the viewer, just as the difficulty of hidden block constrained jumps cannot be conveyed to people who don’t know exactly how Mario controls in SMW.
In contrast to this, more modern hacks have lots of custom gimmicks that introduce clearly visible mechanics that add a different kind of complexity that it’s clearly visible and noticeable for anyone watching. So they look harder to beat regardless of whether that’s true. And this clearly reflects in viewers’ expectations.
Besides, for more established hacks, viewers might also have watched world record speed runs of them.
