    My facial paralysis started on 8th September. I was promptly prescribed prednisolone and aciclovir. The pred' dose was high - 60mg for 10 days and now I'm minimising the dose every other day.
    Along with the medication, your videos have been a God send for me. I followed your exercises to the letter and 3 weeks later, I have my smile back along with my frown etc. The only indication I have that I'm not 100% clear is when I rinse my mouth out after brushing my teeth. There's still some very slight abnormal movement from the paralysed side.
    From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for making these videos and helping me recover. I know that this condition can reoccur but if this ever happens, I know you helped me on my journey back to normality this time. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🙏🇱🇧

    Your videos are super helpful, I have learned so much and Im seeing improvements. When I try to raise my eyebrow my cheek moves, my eye and my mouth, can you give me an advice on how to do it, without moving everything else? thank you

      I cannot really give you the right answer without assessing your face. There could be different reasons for that to happen. You could have some synkinesis. it sounds like you should stretch your entire cheek

    hi dr ,
    I have been prescribed sterioids for 10 days , i have got BP on left side of my face , my question to you is taht during my meds preiod (10 days ) should I be trying your massaging exercises or wait till the dosage period is over and then start exercising?
    also I dont want to rush and develop synkinesis so could you kindly recommend what should be routine to follow ? ( today is my 3rd day of BP taking anti-flammatory meds)

      You can already start gentle massaging. The whole program is in the Bell's palsy tutorial. Link is in description of this video.

    5 years still not yet fully recovered. I am still having problems with closing my eyes,smiling and symmetric .Do you advise me to continue with these excices or it's no longer possible to gain my normal facial movement.

    • @ButheauPhysiotherapy
      @ButheauPhysiotherapy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I cannot fully answer your questions without more information. But if you have been doing this for a while and not seeing any change, then you re likely missing something. You might have to do something in addition but also by 5 years, I don’t think you can expect more changes without further care like botox and/ or surgery. Your nerve natural healing is probably done. Have you work with a facial nerve specialist , otolaryngologist? Facial surgeon

      I cannot suggest one exercises without an evaluation because each case of synkinesis is unique. I would have to see which muscles are hyperactive to give you the correct answer. But what I would do is stretch what feels tight.

    Does Bell’s palsy affect the eye ball? I kinda feel like if my eye ball popped out a little?
    Thanks.

    • @ButheauPhysiotherapy
      @ButheauPhysiotherapy  ปีที่แล้ว

      the Bell's phenomenon, or oculyric reflex, affects the eyeball rolling up upon attempt at closing eyelid initially. The weakness of eyelid closure works in combination of the ability for the eyeball to roll downward/ gazing downward. As far as popping out, no. IT is likely because of what your eyelid muscles does, the way it is tight, etc...

    I am suffering from bells palsy on left side of my face and when I try to lift eyebrow my lip stretch to the paralysis side I don't know why it's happening or it is normal in bells palsy or not but i don't know why my lip stretch to paralysis side whenever I try to lift eyebrow can you please tell ?

    • @ButheauPhysiotherapy
      @ButheauPhysiotherapy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what you are describing, you have synkinesis, which is a complication from facial paralysis. One of the reason for it is that you likely have short, tight muscles/ soft tissue in your face that develop while your nerve was healing.
