South Africa election ruling: Court says former President Zuma can run again

- A court in South Africa has ruled former President, Jacob Zuma, can run in next month's parliamentary elections.
He had challenged an earlier decision by the electoral commission, which barred him from standing due to a contempt of court conviction.
Zuma is representing a new political party after denouncing the governing African National Congress that he once led.
Hajra Omarjee is a political editor with Business Day - a national daily newspaper in South Africa.
She says that Jacob Zuma's decision to participate in elections came as a big surprise to the nation.

My dear lady, you forgot to mention that Zuma is the only person in South Africa who was sentenced without a trial. A violation of our constitution, done by the Constitutional Court. A travesty of justice, that was the watershed moment in our country. A violation of the constitution by the highest court in the land.

The courts also ruled that he should never have been released from prison & needs to complete his sentence.
