    I love Gilles Peterson. Definately one of the best DJ's and seems like a very genuine nice bloke. Thomas also conducted himself in a very gentlemanly way. Lovely to see.

    Super entertaining and informative. This should be a Netflix series with Gilles presenting, chatting to guests and playing music.

      LOL. It used be called Gilles Peterson's radio DJing job at BBC :)) honestly, it was much better as it was mostly audio only and one could focus on just listening

      Ditto. When I heard his radio1 show for the first time in 94 or 95, I forget...my ears were opened. From Ravi Shankar Dancing drums one minute to some completely different next song. Bar Rumba, Far East, World wide radio...just brilliant. My biggest musical influence.

    There is a high likelihood you’ll excel in music if you’re a 12 year old with 10 franks in his pocket and your first thought is to go to the record store and purchase Liberated Fantasies by George Duke. Tremendous.

    • @shawnfunstuff
      @shawnfunstuff 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So true, my 12 would at least know how to play a record, but his selection would be questionable.

    The perfect antidote to listening to some div at work droning on about 'business development'. Simply bang on the headphones and listen to two, articulate and engaging chaps discuss the type of music that they like, I like and, I suspect, most other people on this thread like. Wonderful stuff.

    was a great little insight but Gilles pulled out a ltd edition 12" -four from Cameo does not contain the track he played- the track he played is called 'The Sound Table' from the album the Knights of the Sound table.....he plays the track out as I've heard him play it on a few occasions.That said he is a excellent dj......interesting choice of vinyl

    que hilário, né? um dos DJs mais renomados do mundo, quando precisa de uma carta na manga infalível p/ pista de dança, lança um Milton Nascimento. algo que pra nós é tão familiar e próximo.. engraçado ver como a galera lá fora pira e idolatra a música brasileira! dois cara pálida lá da europa chamando o som brasileiro do "pop mais sofisticado que há"... ê laiá... é cada tesouro

    Both of my eyes require 1.5 lenses too. Big councdence. People with that prescription do not require lenses to drive. Anyway that is a big digression. George Duke is great. Its wonderful to listen to great music, not always current stuff only. I love Jackson Browne and saw him playing live a few months ago in Mintreal. The point is that young people these days go with music like fashion. They see it as a fashionable thing and will only listen to what everyone else is listening to. Its not about really loving the music, its more about belonging to a group. You are into rap and hip hop or danse music or something else as opposed to just what is great. It bothers me because creativity suffers. Musicians become successful by singing or performing the fashionable sound, not from their hearts. What a pity because everyone sounds the same and perform stuff that sounds like something else. That what the young people want, music that sounds familiar, as opposed to good. The dance lovers want music with the beat that gets them moving a certain way so they can stand and sway their arms above their heads. Nothing wrong with wanting to get into a certain groove and dancing, but its so boring as far as creativity goes. I worry about the direction of society in general and music is part of it all. Great video amd great music. Thanks.

      I get where you're coming from but i'm not sure I agree with your point. Pop music has existed for the whole of the 20th century and arguably before then, is it really anything new for music to go in and out of fashion?
