Great vid. Awesome win vs Zachary, he might not have the flashiest style but he is really good at getting the ball back and opening up consistently. Looks like you had a tough time with looping some of his dead pushes out of the table as well til the final 2 sets. way to take the win!
Also your last opponent is a nightmare. Amazing blocks/feeling and super smooth loops with tons of spin.

Thanks man - yeah Zach was tough to play against for sure. Even during the warm-up, he wasn't missing a single loop lol

Really liked your blocking on those last few points in game 5 and hitting the winner at the right moment; nice strategy!! Tough match between you both!!

    Here’s what I see:
    1. You need to practice your FOWARD drive than sticking with loop. If you can, you can add more forward swing to your loop so that it’ll have more power and spin to it.
    2. Practice to brush the ball using your short pips so that you can receive fast balls easier. Remember that you CAN ALSO attack using short pimples.
    3. If a player calls for a towel break and he goes to his coach, you can ask if it’ll be a TimeOut or just a towel break since you don’t have any ampire. If it’s just a towel break, don’t let your opponent go to his coach as it’ll be an additional timeout.
Overall, nice game bro. More tournaments and trainings to come! On to the next one!

Hey, Josh, good comeback against Zachary, he had a good forehand loop as well, it was a battle of who would attack first. I noticed that you usually block passively, even against high loops, but I remember watching you train the punching when you first swapped to short pips. I think you're missing an opportunity to be more agressive with your game if you just put your bat there to block with your backhand.
I tried short pimples last summer for a couple of months, and punching services and loops were two of the things I liked the most about short pips, alongside with the ability to slow the tempo and make opponents miss the next shot. Your forehand is amazing, if you can bring your backhand to be a bit more dangerous, I believe that your game will go up a lot.
Edit: Also, against Tarun's tomahawk serve, something that one of my coaches taught me and it's really effective is pushing against the spin, try to mirror his bat and push the opposite way where the ball wants to go, it's the safest thing you can do and will send the ball the opposite way that the opponent is expecting.

Yeah I felt like I played way too passively against Zach - I'm actually working more on being aggressive with my SP backhands and counter loops right now since they both would've came in handy during that match. Good tip for the tomahawk serve receive - I had more trouble with his top spin actually since I kept trying to push it when I should've been looping it

I know Zach and his coach, his coach is a guy who purposely keeps his rating low(Under 1400) but talks a lot and take the worlds longest towel and timeouts lol. Taking the timeout was smart!

Great job by the way. U have a couple great serves. Sometimes when u hit the receiving opponent ball, it kicks off the table a little and u miss. The alow spinny loops always worked throughout your matches. Just hit 60 percent power patient. My humble take away watching ur game is work on: Serves low on net, vary location of serves, bh training. Those 2 u jump up 200 points! Great job man!

3 rd match was perfect example why tactics are very important and to be flexible. You should have played simple game. Heavy under deep to his bh and loop spinny not killing it with middle or fh and after/if he blocks you can try to finish the point. Receive his serve deep bh regardless he won't attack if the spin is heavy or if he does attack give it again deep bh and play the rally. Your goal should be to switch it down the line when you're comfortable and take step back to give yourself time to react to his fh. On his tomahawk you should try to attack it but not killing it he will for sure block the attack he is used to people attacking it then you block him with the pips deep bh or middle might be better after he blocks with fh and expect down the line to your fh since it is more likely after these shots to het the next ball there. He is pretty good, great control but you have the advantage in speed and movement and you should give yourself opportunity for rally and to move him around. He isn't good guy to use fancy side spins on because he has great feeling and uses it to create good angles for himself and hard for you. This is pretty much the difference between you and 1900, you have all the necessary skill set but don't know how to apply everything you have to your opponent. Against some people you can't try to kill the 3 rd ball immediately. Wish you success in the U1800!

    • @musclepong
      @musclepong  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

Yeah I felt like Tarun barely moved an inch, meanwhile I was running from side to side. In hindsight, I should've had a better game plan. Since his feeling was so good, I got a bit intimidated and nervous which led to me playing passively and when I tried to attack, I would miss my shot

I know Zach and he’s a cool guy and is consistent on blocking. His coach is a known sandbagger here in Ohio that keeps his rating 1300-1500 and uses medium pips so he’s always winning the cash from every one of those tournaments and never enters anything else.

Nice job on the first two matches.
Couple bits of feedback - as I am also a very forehand dominant player.
      1. You have to learn how to attack with your backhand. As you face higher rated opponents they will exploit your backhand to no end. If you learn how to attack with it - it will keep opponents from doing that AND you won't feel the need to try to step around quite so much. Not that your step around is bad - to the contrary it is quite good. But you can see in the third game where your opponent would push wide backhand and you would try to force the step around vs play a backhand shot.
      2. Third guys tomohawk serve - I like the thought process behind using your backhand to return that serve. But honestly man - you have a monster forehand. You should loop that ball every time is floats off the end of the table. Sure you might miss a few in the beginning - but use those misses to understand how spin your opponent is using and adjust accordingly. Aim more to the right for heavy side, and more to the middle for light side. Note this assumes a right handed opponent.
Keep working at the game and having fun! Love your channel!
