Ah, the oldest naming trick in the book. I've seen it on such characters as Mac and Tosh, Chip and Dale, Kat and Ana, Snips and Snails.
Really enjoying the sketchbook spread videos. It makes me feel motivated to draw and not be concerned about a perfect outcome.
Love the kitties! We have 4 cats. Miss Kiddums, Sassy, Tim-Tim and Prissy. They are Maine coons. I miss the rambunctious kittens they once were. They still get the zoomies but not as often. They mainly just lay around and sleep.
Oh, I almost forgot to ask! Do you ever plan on doing more of those videos where you get those snack crates and you draw creatures/animals based off those snacks? I loved those videos.

I have cats named Lamb, Broccoli, Peaches, and Sausage. Food-based names reign supreme.
As somebody who has had cats named "Noodles" "beans" "casco" and "taco" yes food names do work.

Think the background color in the middle is perfect. It makes the cats pop and doesn't distract from them at all. Also maybe sacrifice one of your socks and stuff it to turn it into a cat toy? Maybe it being foot shaped and smelling like you will help with Ham

3:37 Ahhhh, prismacolors. I used to love them but eventually I couldn't justify losing 3/4 of every (expensive!) pencil in broken lead lol. This turned out very cute tho!

I'd like to see your color pencil style with no lines. It looks fun and textured
Haha, you need one of those pencil extender things! Put your pencil nubs into those metal or plastic tubes, so you can still hold onto them.
As a calico owner who draws, I usually just try to get the facial markings and any standout markings(solid white leg, white paws, etc.), then just randomly place the spots/stripes/patches

These are so cute. So happy you guys got kittens. My husband and I got a third last year and thus far I have trained him to sit, give paw, stand up, and spin. He is the only one of the three that will spin for food and now that he knows the trick, he will do endless spins to get food! It is hilarious. lol
I'm glad you show all the pencil breaks, my exact struggles with prismacolor..and never using some colors and others are nubs ;)
I didn't even know you had kittens! THEY ARE SO CUTE! I love the name Ham & Cheese. I never thought to teach my cats how to sit.
The leads breaking is why I switched, and happily from Prismacolor to Faber Castel. They work a bit differently, but I never have the issues with the lead breaking like I do with Prismacolors. They're glued differently.

My cat Soma says meow and sends purrs. Soma is a climber, too. =) And Soma is a Tortoise shell, with a complicated pattern too. And I always forget with side has the orange-y coloured spot on two of her toes.

kasey! pro tip for Prisma colours to avoid the pencils snapping/led falling out, try sharpening with a Stanley knife. that way you're just pulling the wood away, not the color. your pencil life spans will 100% double if u do this

I definitely understand the struggle with Cheese's fur patterns, lol. my cat is a tortoiseshell and the various times I've drawn her over the years it's been a struggle trying to figure out the best way to capture her coloring in a way that doesn't drive me insane. XD

My cat refuses to close his eyes when he yawns so he'll make direct eye contact with us while he does it, and it looks pretty similar to what you drew for Cheese lol
Also I love the names, they're perfect. And the way you draw the whiskers detached is inspiring, maybe I'll try that next time! I'm always scared I'm gonna mess up the face by putting whiskers over it.

cheese looks like a Dilute Calico pattern with Tabby stripes. soooo pretty. i LOVE dilute calico, the softer grey and cream orange as opposed to normal very dark calico.
my first cat, who i was extremely attached to, had that pattern. cheese reminds me of him. (his name was Mister). 8 weeks ago my Mama cat had kittens, and im keeping one. a siamese named Oliver. hes the absolute cutest. so cuddly and clumsy and curious. youve inspired me to make an Instagram account for him.

I love them! And I love that they’re called Ham and Cheese. My kittens are Carrot (pitch black with yellow eyes - looks like toothless) and Cauliflower (gray tabby with no eyes). Kittens are demons, but cyooooot demons!

I heard that microwaving Prismacolors for 10 seconds helps with the breaking. Haven’t tried it though, so do so at your own risk!

Cheese has similar patterning as my kitty. It's IMPOSSIBLE to draw her consistently!
if you ask me I think the drawings look a lot like the real cats! Especially Cheese, but I would have made Ham over all a much darker grey and with less contrast between the tabby and the base grey. And I am pretty sure the stripes you drew on them is the classic simplistic way of drawing tabby, so even if it feels too simple/not similar I think it's recognizable to people as "these are tabby cats"
