I know. I sat and did the math on the burgers that I made and grilled and the cost of each meal was less than $4 and it tasted better and I got everything cooked the way I wanted it. And that was $4 for the burger, bun, condiments, fries, and a drink. Four bucks for a gourmet style burger meal, not a clown burger with cold fries. Unfortunately I see bankruptcy in their future if this trend continues. But the upside is that there will be a few restaurant sites up for sale where a person could set up shop and make food so good that people will line up to get some.
I can literally buy steak and baked potatoes from the grocery store for my family of 6 for less than what it cost to feed them all at a fast food place.. and that’s what we typically do anymore.

If you still eat at McDonald's; you are upper to middle class. Low middle class and poor people cant afford McDonald's anymore. McDonald's knows their sales are down, but the price hike they did is being covered by upper and middle class people. Poor people is what made McDonald's rich, $4 could be a full dinner for a broke person. I predict even upper and middle class people will get tired McDonald's, and move on, and poor people will be so tapped out after this economy , leaving McDonald's with nothing even if they lower food prices again.

I was thinking the other day they should develop some cool and fun games and combined it with happy meal toys. I could imagine for example some cartoon character with a mini QR code on the bottom so a kid could take his toy and scan it and then he would get the virtual character in-game to use. They need to do something to get kids excited about their stores.

MCD is simply an investment vehicle for the CEO to manipulate for this own personal gain. Anyone on the SLT will talk the talk with the masses. Brand awareness is important, the public drives demand, so I imagine McDonalds make a ton and I mean a ton of money from fries or variations of fries (in Korea/India they have the shake fry bags), i wouldn't be surprised if fries were 50% or more of their sales. As for the burgers; they probably break even on those.
