21:13 Also if you move to the right, you can find the bandit keith again to duel, so you can easily farm points for more deck capacity and duelist level
No shot! Needed to test this on my irl copy and youre right! Even after 18(!!!) years (Europe) i find new stuff i never even thought about in my fav ygo gba game! Thanks man you just made my day
2:14 This is a reference to the legendary Yata Lock from the TCG which featured people using pre-erata Chaos Emperor Dragon's effect and pre-errata Sangan to wipe the board and empty the hands while fetching Yata on to the field with Sangan's death trigger presenting a Hard Lock. This line of play was directly responsible for the game's first Ban List which featured all the cards on the list. CED didn't come off the list until it was errated and Yata only recently came off the list due to the game power-creeping it. Konami hated this line of play so much, that if you ever pull off the Yata Lock in any of the Yugioh games, the AI will automatically surrender. Also, various pieces of the Lock tend to end up on the rotating ban lists of games like 7 Trials specifically to keep you from doing so. 25:55 Yeah unfortunately, that's a pretty tall ask in Reshef of Destruction. That game is hard as shit.
This is some nostalgia. I remember I I trolled someone at a locals for putting me in a Yata lock. I’d wait as long as I could with my turn timer, then I’d end my turn. I’d even ask how his day was.
It was during the peak popularity of the show although the card game is still popular, it will never hit the same mainstream popularity it did during its initial duel monsters run in 2002-2005 and the gba was the perfect platform for all those games
17:15 Funilly enough, the Super Dancer machine has a marquee of DDRMax on the top, so you could say its a reference to both Dance Dance Revolution and Super Dancer.
Zamn this is some good ass fucking content. A lot of the sounds and music from Sacred Cards are ingrained into my brain and it's kind of nice knowing that the arcade music wasn't just a one and done tune but actually from a cute song.
12:45 There's one other I know of that has the Konami Code in it... World Championship Tournament 2004 will let you rewatch the credits sequence (and get an updated completion percentage) by entering the code on the main screen, after having viewed it once.
2:26 fun fact! I recently discovered the Yata Lock prevention, via Surrendering, happens in Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Tag Force SPECIAL as well! It may just be leftover code from all the way back then.
17:12 Another fun thing about the dancing machine is that it is definitely using the DDR Max logo with the red fire like background and how the logo is shooting out at you.
Every-time I see you post a video I’m like “ahhh I bet this won’t be very interesting, but I’ll watch the first few minutes” Then I end up defeated every time…
Miracle moon on sacred cards kinda reminds me of my first time playing terra battle on my phone. God knows I loved that game. Also recently in Sacred Cards i realised that on the blimp Marik shows that he has good feelings for Odion even though his soul is lost.
Not sure if this was mentioned already but in duel academy one of the raw yellow students wants to be game designer and makes references to games like solid snake
Have you considered doing some content for DS era Yu Gi Oh games? Most of them are disappointing in that you get access to really just one starting deck, but World Championship 2011 is probably still worth putting some videos into.
I'm starting to play ones I haven't played yet casually to get ready for the DS era but they're all pretty long lol. also making content for a game with 2 screens got me shook but shouldn't be too bad
@@pretty_fly_for_a_jeskai I loved the DS games except for 2010 and 2011 because they added more cards but made the monsters almost gone and then just removed the monsters completely
I've never pulled off the Yata Lock in-game or in person, but I swear I forced Rex Raptor to """surrender""" once in Yugioh Legacy of the Duelist on my PS4 a couple years ago. I had Red Eyes Flare Metal Dragon on the field and he had like 800 life points left. He used some card, I forget what, and lost 500 life points due to Flare's burn effect. Then summons some generic dino, and... attacks? Into my Flare Metal Dragon? And takes like 1500 damage??? I was so confused. I know it's just AI being AI and sometimes it's just weird, but I like to think he sudoku'd to save himself the shame haha just headcanon.
I remember the player's room being filled with easter eggs in Nightmare trobadour too. From what I can remember you could see a copy of Forbidden memories, the first tome of the yugioh manga and an obelisk card on the players trunk
This video so interesting! I never knew about these when I played these games when I was a kid. I'm definitely going to get the Konami Bonus in Duel Links now.
I use to play Yu-Gi-Oh! years ago and got to play most of the GBA versions. This was a welcome surprise as until now, I never even knew about all these easter eggs and secrets. Thank you for a very informative video. 👍🏽
That card rotation in the end game credits is actually very easy to do, the gba has support for rotation and scaling, if you want to find out more about it, search gba affine background. I assume the card was an affine background and they used mode 1. The scrolling characters was probably another background layer and the text could be another background layer (there's 3 in mode 1) or likely sprites
Ok, I have to get rid of this. Scrub Busta, you are amazing. I speak for all the geeks of us. Your videos about the Yu Gi Oh games and the GBA in general are so entertaining and I really love them. Especially the videos about Ultimate masters got me into the game back again. I would love to see more videos of you. Thank you and greetings from Germany :)
Impressive video! I would never have been able to recognize that GX poster with the perspective of the wall distorting the image and how low resolution it is.
The "yata lock" surrender is actually a nod to the first banlist/tournament tier 0 deck, Yata/Spirit Lockdown or just Yata-lock as people called it. Basically you stall out till theyre down cards, hand destruction, etc, and then you play yata garasu in a way he can't be cleared, and the devs saw that as a degen strat so they didn't want you to be able to farm many points off of it, so as soon as the CPU runs out of cards with a yata on board, regardless of the turn, they immediately surrender as a "heck you" from the devs and Konami for "making them ban it"
21:46 I mean, that is pretty source accurate. In the anime, he only did 3 sorta morally condemnable things across three arcs(Which only happen after this arc) and it's really the fault of Weevil's bad influence anyhow. And in the original Manga, these things don't even happen. Also, Scrub Busta just doesn't miss. The random minecraft-jaden only makes it better.
I always thought the dude in YGO WC 2005 with the locs was Johnny Steps. He was the only character in the whole Duel monsters series that had locs (that i could remember) so it made since to me back then
incredible video, bravo!! I hold all these yugioh gba games dear to my heart and I replay them a lot, so this was such a cool video to watch. I could never beat reshef of destruction but now I want to attempt it to get to that insane boss scene lol. thanks for putting this together!!
Yugioh GBA games hold a place in my heart but my first and all time favorite was Eternal Duelist Soul, I don't know how well versed you are in it but I'd love to see you do a video on it :) (Maybe even do a tier list)
28:40 that's clearly Kaiba. Short brown hair, white outfit, black sleeves. He's facing right and appears to be drawing a card from a duel-disk. It's not the cover of Dungeon Dice Monster. 28:49 is a picture of Mystical Elf. Long brown hair, blue skin, white head ornament.
The Yu-Gi-Oh games fascinate me so much more than the actual card game... Never played any of these (I was a Forbidden Memories guy), but these are so interesting.
21:12 Oh I know, you going to mention the warehouse on the right where you can find Bandit Keith after the story progress, where he got free of Marik's mind control! Depending what you chose to tell him he will either leave or stay there forever so you can refight him! Man, I played this game 3 times as a kid, and COMPLETELY missed him the 2 first times because I DIDN'T REALIZE You could enter those buildings ... 21:15 OH yeah, those people :V Well No, Bandit Keith I guess LOL I guess it will do good additional material for a future video!
such a pleasant suprise to see the new video and then the 31 minute time on it, love this channel so so much and your return has not stopped making me happy
Almost every of PaniK's card works Dark Chimera also works, but you need to attack into a Defense position monsters (with at least 1600 DEF) 3 times (-x90 LP each attack, and you will get xx30 LP at the end)
I may not have tried it in a GBA game, but believe it or not, I knew about the skull servant bonus! If I'm remembering correctly, at least one of the later games had lists of potential bonuses (maybe it was a tag force game?). On top of bonuses for stuff like alternate win conditions and yata-lock, there are ones that involve hard-to-Summon monsters like Gate Guardian/Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth. ...And then there was the Skull Servant bonus which felt out of place. I did end up pulling it off.
30:36 the poster on right is from yugioh game called capsule monsters breed and battle for ps1 I'm pretty sure because the colors resembles the art cover of the game
Nice knowing the meaning behind 573. Maybe I might know the message behind the Japanese pop city music singing random numbers in English. Also the opening "Go Rush" music from the recent series Sevens, use the word "Na" intentionally to rhyme with their funky music which then means "7", lol.
I love the deep diving into the random posters in these games. I wonder if it possible to get in touch with a dev that worked of some of the games, to find out if they know all the posters used. I mean it seems like a safe bet that every poster references the video games in some way.
You can force your opponent in duelist of the roses to surrender if you surround their deck master. It's not just this game where your opponent will surrender.

Pretty interesting video, the Goemon reference is so crazy!
I've played the Sacred Cards. I loved how that one NPC in the same area as Rex looks like Naruto.

I wish Sacred Cards was harder. Such a great game. They went overboard with its sequel difficulty tho, because SC was too easy.
