i dont think it should technically be an esport in the traditional sense since the game only requires you to have meta knowledge of both actual real life features and Google Maps features, and there is little to no proper skill involved as compared to normal competitive video games.
i really love geoguessr and i've played it for years, but it sounds so weird to have shoutcasters go crazy over these 5 seconds rounds.
the game is a lot of fun as it is and i personally don't think it should be taken as seriously and as competitively in such a tryhard way as it's happening recently.
that said, i massively respect rainbolt and all the other top players who know our world so well it's actually baffling.
