Nice fix, I've one of two of these amps, and I replaced the bulbs with an LED kit, the kit was a like for like match on the PCB and a straight swap out for £70, works a treat with no interference with a more modern look with a cool back light.
Thank you for the compliment. I was considering LED but the owner just love this retro glow. I might convince him for LED next time. Happy you made it work for your system.
I had the Limited Gold Edition of this amp. It was Lovely, with It's Blue lighting up the massive VU meters. And loads of power. I really miss that Amp. I also had the Pre-Amp that You have here as well. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Where do you find axial lamps? My Onkyo lamps burned out (factory lamps lasted 35 years), I replaced with LED's but I'm not liking the quality of light and would like to replace with actual incandescent lamps but cannot find them. You are very resourceful.
Thank you for your comment and your compliments. I’m totally agree with you that incandescent lamps look best in this machine. Those I got, I buy at AliExpress, since none European wholesale have in stock. Search axial 8V 100mA lamp, and I guess you find them. Happy hunting, and thank you for your support.
Hello friend. These bulbs you can get at different places, but be aware it is different voltage and the bulbs are in series. Use google and search axial meter lamp for possible dealers in your region.
Thank you for your comment. As for this particular amplifier, I had on my workbench as a service and not longer in my arrest. If I on day get similar amplifier for service or repairs, I will gladly make a video from your question.
@@anatticinnorway2883 I enjoyed the video and am interested in that model. Which makes me curious about what it would take to maintain within specs. Cheers

This is a nice setup.
Had hand on a similar set back in around 1990.

I have a similar amplifier with the same light problem, what are these component bulbs called and where can I buy them. :)

@@anatticinnorway2883 thank you very much. 🙂
@@anatticinnorway2883 btw, can you remember what voltages was needed in that amplifier? :)
Are you able to demonstrate an alignment of that amp?
Thank you for your comment.

The owner is an acquaintance of mine, so I will check with him if we can do this amplifier for a service video in the closest future.
Can you please list the spare parts that you used?
Hello. Thank you for your comment.
As for this fix, I used 10 pieces of axial bulbs and some time. Kinda quick fix.
Where are you living please?
Hello. I am living in the southern part of Norway.
