The Neo Geo titles for Switch, Xbox, etc. are emulations and indentical to the Neo Geo originals, Saturn and PS1 ports were always inferior (edit: mainly bc of the sound and long loading times). New games for the Neo Geo were developed for a timespan of about two decades (it had the longest active period of all systems), some hacks and homebrews even longer. The Neo Geo MVS was present in the majority of arcades around the globe and played a big role mainly in the fighting game history, I would't consider it as a "failed console"...

You are so right. Fatal fury special and art of fighting 2 are beautiful games ruined by brutal difficulty and cheating AI. I prefer to play the snes version of ffs because it's easier.
I can play these games on PS5 Xbox one Nintendo Switch Xbox series X PS5 that’s why I put this console away years ago I never played on it the problem with Neogeo is they got no third party games that’s why I hated Neogeo it’s not all about exclusive games only the games that belongs to SNK or we would have to buy the capcom console every publisher console which would cost you thousands of dollars

It was an alternative because consoles back then didn't were powerful enough to have food SNK ports, imagine a Super Nintendo or Seg Genesis trying to run King of Fighters 94, back then playing a game like that in your house was a luxury.

IMHO Andy lost from FF2 to FFSP, in FF2 he didn't need to charge his moves, good play, and beautiful CRT.

Special is an amazing game! But never underestimate the "medium" difficulty... Still not as cheap like Fatal Fury 2.

You have to cheese the AI like most old arcade games. FFS AI in particular is easy to explore.

Indeed. Sadly, it went a little bit downhill with SNK in the late 90s. But their games remain great and timeless forever.
